This is the kind of hotel we really enjoy. Very quiet (no crowded "all-in" situations), with wonderful views from most of the rooms. The building itself needs a little paint on the outside, but the rooms are very nice. Good beds. breakfast is French but OK, so don't expect an English or Irish breakfast. More than 10 different "home made" marmalades, enough bread, croissants, some fruit juice, ... tea & coffee facilities in rooms. ample parking limited but excellent restaurant (only Oyster-bar o... We were met by Catherine who was absolutely charming, showed us to our room, got us some help with our luggage and explained about late entry and the secure car park. The situation of the hotel was somewhat surprising as it gives the impression that it is right on the beach and this is borne out by the photo of the hotel on the website. However, the photo must have been taken when the hotel was built in the thirties as there is now a road, a fish warehouse and a block of flats between the hotel... Read more

A hotel which has undoubtedly had its grand moments, and retains its 30's charm. Agatha Christie would have been at home here. We had an enormous room with windows on two sides, both looking towards the sea. The hotel is situated up above the shore, part of which is sandy beach, part rocks uncovered at low tide. We enjoyed watching the tide come in and out, leaving rock pools behind. There is a long marked path along the shore that start just near the hotel, and is very pleasant. Service s... Read more

We booked for 5 nights but extended our stay for another night. The hotel has been in the family for three generations and it's charming owner made us very welcome. We enjoyed our breakfasts, plenty of fruit and different pastries. We were fascinated by the many lobsters and crabs being sold across the road, some of enormous size. The hotel is well situated f or exploring the local area. We visited Challons for a special fair, St Gilles de Croiz, the Isle of Noirmoutier and walked along the dun... Read more

This is a classic French resort hotel that has been well maintained and retains it's period charm. My room was amply sized for one or two and very comfortable. Obviously a lot of effort had been made to retain it's period charm while at the same time providing all the modern conveniences. My room had a balcony with a view towards the Atlantic. Breakfast was very good and featured a number or home made preserves. The proprietress was very friendly and accommodating and patiently tolerated m... Read more
