What a find this hotel was. We were just looking for a reasonably priced hotel in the Bastille/Marais part of Paris, and recommendations for this one kept popping up. We booked in for three nights and were quite satisfied with the hotel. The decor is unique. Very arty and different from anything I have seen in a hotel. It's definitely not your standard Holiday Inn. We stayed in the 'Joker' room, which was decorated in a card theme with a black light Joker on the ceiling. The room was small... Read more

Had a great stay here - room was beautiful, super trendy and super clean! Bed was comfortable, breakfast was included and had a minimal but tasty spread. Located just a few minute walk to the metro, plenty of shops and restaurants nearby... I'd highly recommend staying here!

My boyfriend and I spent a week here on a recent trip to Paris. We had a great experience - all staff were amazingly friendly, and I loved the whimsical decor (we had the silver/jellyfish room). I was afraid of the tiny elevator so we had to lug ourselves up several flights of stairs every day, but we needed the exercise. I really have nothing negative to say. We didn't try the breakfast (there were plenty of options nearby). There's a metro entrance right down the street, and an open market pop... Read more

Spend there 3 nights and had a great experience. The hotel is located less than 5 minutes on foot from the Bastille metro station. The first thing you notice is the style of the interior decoration and of the rooms, together with the friendliness of the stuff. I was given a single room on the 6th floor with a great city view (could even see the Eiffel Tower) and very interesting setup (bathtub in the room). The room was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast is served until 11.... Read more

I could not have been happier with the choice of this hotel. It is Original!! We stayed in the Alice in Wonderland room and it was adorable. The hotel is in a perfect location, we could walk to so many great sites. As great as the hotel is, the staff was even better!! Fabian, the manager, could was so welcoming, helpful lovely sense of humor! Everyone on the staff we encountered was helpful, kind and very knowledgeable. We stayed only two nights, wish it could have been more!! Please visit... Read more

Fantastic staff. The hotel is quaint and located incredibly well. Amenities are useful, we'd foolishly brought along our British plugs with no adapter but the hotel happily provided us with one - thank god! We did once catch a member of staff asleep at the desk when we came back especially late but he was incredibly embarrassed and we got a good laugh out of it, he was courteous nonetheless. Everything provided was fantastic - I loved the lift! It definitely added charm. Thank you for a fantast... Read more

This hotel is in a great location in the historic Marais district. Close to Bastille Metro station. Cafes, bistros and shops within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very small by North American standards but this is to be expected.

Very close to a Bastille Metro entrance. Good condition of room, bed, reception. Customer oriented front desk. Rooms are somewhat small, but they are comfortable, clean and well-kept. Wifi was spotty: these days, wifi should be excellent for this grade of hotel.

I recently stayed the Hotel Original in Paris for three nights and really enjoyed it. I was traveling alone so booked a single room. I got the ??7 deadly sins?? theme and while it was very small, it was clean and had a lovely view from the window. It definitely is suitable for only one person though, so if you are thinking of booking as a couple to save money I would advise against it. The room was very clean and had a lovely rain shower and sink/vanity area. For a tiny room it is very effic... Read more

Good location in the Bastielle district, however the accommodation was disappointing. The first room we stayed in (402) was like a prison cell, the room was tiny with no space for anything, the shower was terrible and flooded the floor, there was no way we could have stayed in the room for 4 nights. We were upgraded for a charge the following morning when we were placed in room 101 which was slightly better as bigger but the disco lights, bed spread, noise from other rooms & lack of privacy isn... Just a few points about my stay here: - location is fantastic in the thriving Bastille area. Plenty of things to see and do with a metro stop a few metres away. Would certainly be my first choice in terms of areas in Paris to stay. - staff at the hotel are really friendly and efficient. I've no complaints at all about any aspect from check-in to check-out and everything in-between. - the room I stayed in (Joker Room) was a little tight and dark - probably too much furniture for the size of the r... I usually prefer to stay in the Marais, but this hotel is truly adjacent to the Marais with better access to the metro. The Bastille metro is literally steps away which is welcome after long days of walking. You just have to pay attention to which exit you come out of. The hotel itself is petite but well done. The rooms are tight and some of the hanging light fixtures can be obtrusive, but it is cozy. The lights add a romantic glow. The hotel has the feel of an urban respite. I slept very well t... Our family of four (kids 10 and 13) stayed here for 3 nights. The location was great and we were able to walk many places and also easily catch the Hop on Hop Off Bus. I appreciated being able to have my kids in our room, yet they each had their own beds which really helps our sleeping dynamic! We enjoyed a delicious breakfast each morning (for extra money) and it was very easy and a great way to start our day. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly.

I came upon this hotel on TripAdvisor and although had never tried it decided to give it a go. What a wonderful and pleasant surprise it was. Considering how affordable the cost was, I was expecting the worst. We stayed at the Hotel Original Paris because they had a room with three twin beds which is not that easy to find in Paris. Often you had two beds and a couch. Traveling with my son and granddaughter made three twin beds very desirable. We took the metro from Charles De Gaulle airport and got to the hotel with no trouble. There are three or four metro stops near the hotel and one of them is three doors down from the hotel. We arrived about 11 but were able to check right into our room which was... Read more

I very much enjoyed my stay here at Hotel Original. The room was clean and super comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful at all times. The location was a bit off the beaten path for tourists which was also nice: this part of Paris seemed to have more locals than the city center where I'd stayed previously. The location is fantastic; within a few minutes walk we found the beautiful Place des Vosges, the Seine quayside (pedestrianised for the summer) and the lively Marais. We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Original! The hotel is very conveniently located near the Bastille subway station, a major station that has lines out to the popular sites in Paris. Near the hotel there are also plenty of great restaurants, bakeries, tea houses, a BNP Paribas bank (partnered with Bank of America), and a small supermarket across the street. This is a nice hotel in the sense that it is very Parisian with great service, quaint and interesting. The downside is that the rooms are quite small, and on top of that (at least our room) had a separate water closer and bathroom as is often the case in small French hotels. This isn't necessarily good or bad but it's good to know ahead of time. Loved the location as it was less touristy and much more interesting with restaurants and cafes all around, plus close to the Metro.

Not sure how good value for money is this hotel. Rooms are kind of small and what they have done is include the bath tub and sink in the actual room. This hotel is in a practical location, close to gare de Lyon and the Marais. But the design is terribly tacky, the rooms are quite small (which would not bother me if this was the only issue), and on top of that, this hotel is probably the noisiest hotel I have stayed in. EVER. You can hear your neighbors in the room next door and all the noise from above, people in the hallway, the toilet being flushed God knows where... rhhhhh don't book this hotel if you want to sleep!
