We stayed here for three nights in April 2016, based on a review seen online and the fact it looked so pretty - and French. It was, indeed, a very sweet hotel. Our room was very small, with a tiny en-suite shower, but it was fine for our needs, and, although it faced the front, was very quiet with the window closed. Because of the shutters it was, however, also quite dark. The breakfast room was very lovely. All the staff we met were really friendly, were happy to speak English and were ver... Read more

As someone who has travelled extensively around the world I found Hotel Villa Rivoli a real gem! The staff was so welcoming that it was like coming home! The service was excellent and my room was perfect. The old world charm of the premises and the ambience was fabulous. I hosted a Business Networking Cocktail in the salon of the hotel and myself and my guests were completely satisfied with the impeccable service we received. The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting Nice and the famed P... Read more

I reserved through booking.com and honestly the pictures and the descriptions is not so real. The room we booked was 4 person and we travelled 2 plus our kid. The room was so small with decoration very cheap in details. The beds and materass very good. The bathroom extra small. No possible to enter more the one at time. At the morning we had a very bed surprise at the breakfast room. Was very small and full of people (a group of tourist not so polite) that even if they finish their breakfast the... Read more

Check-in was very straightforward and the reception staff very helpful in suggesting things to do and places to see. All staff spoke very good English and were very patient with our struggling French! The bedroom was lovely, very clean, lovely comfortable beds, everyone slept well each night. Air conditioning in room was very welcome. Bathroom small but perfectly adequate, although we would have liked a bigger shower! Breakfast was very civilized, not the rush and noise and clatter that you ... Read more

We would definitely recommend this hotel, but with perhaps two things to consider. It is a small hotel, lovely and clean, and very friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast is very nice, and you can enjoy it outside in the small courtyard garden which is delightful. The position of the hotel is great, just a short walk to the promenade Des Anglais one way, and the main railway station the other. The old town, port, and many other tourist attractions are also within easy walking distance. Taxi is 30 Eur... Read more

We really wanted to like this hotel given it's location to the promenade and all the restaurants in Old Town but unfortunately the room condition made our stay very unenjoyable. The first night in our room we noticed whenever you flush the toilet, the shower would gurgle and burp up a horrible stench. We complained to the front desk and asked them to look into it. Second day there we checked back in with the front desk to see if anybody was going to address the problem and they stated they where... Read more

This is a Nice Hotel that's still walking distance to the train station. It was only a few blocks from the beach. It had a great breakfast with good indoor or courtyard dining. The people were nice. Everything was classy. We had an odd room with the toilet room on one side and the sink and shower room on the other side which would not be ideal long term. There was a small balcony overlooking the street. There was not an elevator. This was a long walk to the tourist area but the lower pri... Read more

We really enjoyed this little hotel. The staff are extremely welcoming and accommodating. We arrived a couple of hours before check-in; one room was ready so we waited about 30 minutes for the 2nd one. We stayed in Room 6 on the 1st floor (2nd floor-US). It faces the street and has 2 sets of French doors leading to Juliette balconies on each side of the fireplace (not sure if it is functioning or not). There is a mirror above the table across from the bed and a wardrobe with a safe. The be... Read more

We stayed in the apartments from the hotel. They were clean, quite well equipped and very central. The apartments were in a beautiful building with shuttered windows overlooking a courtyard with flowers, trees etc., They were very secure and safe.

We spent 2 nights at Hotel Villa Rivoli at the end of a 3 week vacation in France. We were looking forward to a little bit of luxury after staying at Airbnb and BnB's throughout Provence. The photos on their website showed a charming hotel with toile wallpaper in the rooms. Sadly although our room had a small balcony it had no charm and no toile wallpaper. It was comfortable and very close to the beach, the cinema and some lovely, local bars however we did feel disappointed with the hotel itself... Read more

The Hotel is a pleasant change from your average large chain hotel. Old world charm but still with all modern amenities including free wi-fi. Nice friendly staff. The location is ideal for the beach, old town and Nice Ville train station (all walkable). Bus stops to the Port and further afield are all very near.Lovely breakfast and garden.

This hotel had that old world French feel to it. Walls actually had fabric on them rather then paper and the room had a small balcony that you could enjoy coffee on or simply watch the street. Located just off the main drag so the road noise at night was next to non existent. This is a European hotel, so you can't expect a large bathroom or shower. But, if you are going to see the sights and just sleep or spend minimal time in the hotel this is perfect. Staff was very friendly and spoke multiple... Read more

...well, this is what we were hoping to experience staying in France for a short summer break. The decor and ambience of the hotel gives an auro of wonderful old world charm. Not really a hint anyhwhere of a modern hotel but very comfortable non the less. We could not fault the helpfulness of the proprietor and the staff. All good english speakers and great advisers of what to do, where to go etc. Some invaluable tips of restaurant venues. We went looking for eateries with authentic French cuisi... Read more

I was really looking forward to this stay as had seen the pictures of the rooms online showing pretty wallpaper and spacious rooms, it also stated they had parking available which was a must as we were driving. Receptionist was lovely and helpful. Location is good for the beach and easy to find. When we arrived I was told we had been upgraded - great! Not so great, I don't believe for a moment that this was an upgrade as the room we had was small, not decorated with wallpaper as in the pictur... Read more

Tired room, tired carpets. Paper thin walls. Room literally shook after a neighbour closed his door.Toile applied with a staple gun, you could see the staples around the door frame. A shower so small, a normal adult could barely fit in, no soap holder! Breakfast reasonable. Staff: didn't find any of the "so" helpful people. Generally speaking a bit confused about the day-to-day running of a hotel. Owner makes an effort but not sure it is really her game. Location is good. Not recommended.

Having stayed at many of the larger more well known hotels in Nice I was pleasantly surprised by the Villa Rivoli. It was excellent value for money, having a wonderful location, faultless staff, and cute rooms. The breakfast was more than sufficient and reasonably good value. I would most definitely stay here again.

Hotel Rivoli really is a super hotel with friendly and hospitable staff. It is exactly what you would expect, and hope for, of a French hotel in the wonderful city of Nice. It's easily accessible from the train station and very close to the front with all it's restaurants and bars. Rooms are light, clean and very comfy. The Wifi was playing up when we were there but that's an easy fix and I'm sure it will be Ok very soon.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this little gem of a charming hotel in beautiful Nice. Thanks to the owner's dedication to a tastefully decorated room with French flair, excellent service and a delicious breakfast in a magic little garden, we will remember our stay with fond memories and are looking forward to coming back.

Stayed for a long weekend in April and while this is a good three star hotel we did experience an example of poor service and response. Prior to our arrival we asked the hotel reception to book dinner at the restaurant 'chat noir et chat blanc' and specify a gluten free requirement. This restaurant is actually recommended in the hotel marketing video! The booking was confirmed by email but when we arrived outside it was completely closed - without any explanation. We found an alternative but whe... Read more

I spent one night at the Villa Rivoli (last night so this is fresh!) and I had a really enjoyable stay. It sort of made my trip to Nice perfect - the hotel matches the city's warmth and it's preserved history perfectly. Having done a lot of searching and reading reviews, the hotel sort of threw me when I arrived. It was a little older, a little more worn than I expected, and the room was a bit more homey and bordering on kitsch decor-wise than I expected. So I dumped the expectations. It is lov... Read more

Great traditional hotel in a perfect location. Intimate and personal service and very enjoyable. Quite quirky and stylish rooms and definitely very "French". Perfectly placed for access to the sea, train station and restaurants but quiet enough to be away from the masses. The girls on the front desk are excellent at their work and made the stay even more personalised. Highly recommended and can not wait to return!

We were very happy we chose this location for our Nice holiday. It is situated a stonethrow away from Promenade des Anglaise were we first planned on staying but we are happy we didn't. The road, like any road in Nice is very busy, non-stop traffic. This hotel is a 5 minute walk away which is perfect. It is a beautiful hotel with nice frensh interior and very romantic rooms. This is a lovely hotel, with an excellent breakfast buffet, with an option to have one's breakfast in the garden. The room we had was a good size, but the shower was a tight fit. No elevator/lift, so one must be able to climb stairs. The reception staff is extremely helpful, giving recommendations for good locations to eat, directions to the train station, as well as, to Old Town Nice. The owner/manager, Barbara, is also very welcoming and approachable.

My wife and I spent 5 days at the Villa Rivoli towards the end of a three-week swing through southern France in September 2015. The location is ideal, being barely steps away from the Hotel Negresco and the Promenade des Anglais. The property itself is a charming late 19th century building, with a small leafy courtyard and a nice combined breakfast/sitting room with a cozy fireplace. Breakfast was average and adequate. As for the room itself, we made the mistake of booking a "Tradition" room... Read more

Stayed two nights. Booked a double 'semi-basement' room. Excellent location just a few minutes walk to the beach. Rue de Rivoli runs down one side of the Negresco hotel. Room was very clean and the staff were excellent, really friendly and very helpful. The room was very small and even for one person, it could only be used as a place to sleep. Semi-basement meant there was a small, high window which was at street level so it was quite dark. However, it was also very reasonably priced and, for me... Read more
