We stayed in hotel La Villa victor Hugo in the first week of May. Boulevard Victor Hugo is a beautiful street although at the time of our visit there were roadworks on the street. When they are finished the beautiful vista of the street will be visible again. The hotel staff all spoke fluent English and were very helpful. The rooms are very clean and have good storage. Opt for the comfort room -it's worth it for the larger bed and extra space. Nice is a great place to visit for a short break an... Read more

A very good hotel situated away from the crowds but not far from anything really. Halfway between the rail station and the beach and just around the corner from a lot of shops and very good restaurants. The hotel is boutique and modern ,very clean with good friendly staff who speak good English. There is a lift for the rooms or stairs if you don't like lifts .A buffet breakfast is laid on every morning which starts you up for the day ahead, but do try the champagne which comes from the hotels own... This is our second stay at this hotel, we stayed here in September last year.. We booked a comfort rooms which is a lovely sized room. The cleanliness of the hotel is excellent, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is a good selection at breakfast and the quality is very good. Location is very good for restaurants, promenade des Anglais and the train station, we also walked to old town one evening for a meal. Loved it.

My wife and I have just flown back from Nice. First of all I wish to say "Thank you" to all the staff, especially to Lionel, the Receptionist who took good care of our arrival and of course the ladies, Maria and Valerie. Very clean room & quiet - although facing the trafic side, Boulevard Victor Hugo. The only thing that we missed was a minibar in our room, otherwise everything was perfect. The breakfast was delicious, the coffee the best quality I have ever had in a hotel. Congratulation "Mons... Read more

Day staff were very friendly and efficient. Night staff was OK but not as knowledgeable or eager to help. Room was very clean, bedding comfortable, closet space was limited and the European controls on the faucets were designed more for style than utility. Breakfast was adequate but rather limited for the 12 Euro charge .

Pleasant, unpretentious hotel. Very French looking. Friendly staff. We had an executive room looking out on to the street. Quite large. Very spacious shower room. Spotlessly clean. Breakfast 12 euros but you can have continental for 6, which suited us. In good position halfway between Promenade des Anglais and railway station. There is work going on in the street due to new tramway construction, but it was not disturbing. The walk to the old town is not too long and is pleasant, through the main... Read more

A very pleasant hotel with air-conditioned room, lovely bathroom, good linen and a quiet location. It also serves a very nice, good value breakfast. It's location is a convenient 10 minute walk from the Old Town, less to the promenade with many bars and restaurants in the area.

Stayed for one week with a friend exploring Nice and its surrounding areas. Fab location, a few streets from the hustle & bustle. Exceptionally clean and tastefully decorated. A little haven after a hectic day! Special thanks to Lionel for his welcome, friendliness and tips on restaurants etc! All staff very friendly and helpful but we spent most time chatting to him! Lovely stay ð???

Nice hotel, situated in the central part of the city, just few mins walk to the central railway station, shopping area, restaurant area and 10-15 mins walk to the famous Nice promenade and really nice beach. The room are nice, with panoramic Windows, the staff is very nice and professional. The breakfast is not the best one, the minimum required :)

Stayed for nine days while attending a convention and vacationing. We booked a "comfort" room and it was that indeed. Plenty of room for the two of us to spread out our things. The decor is lovely; all shades of soft gray and white. Bed linens are very nice and the beds are very comfortable. Good sized bathroom too. The breakfast room, while in the lower level, is decorated very nicely. There is a choice of two breakfasts; continental for 6 euros or full breakfast for 12 euros. It met ou... Read more

Great for a long weekend. Room was small but modern, clean and cool. Perfect for a couple. Walking distance from town but not so close that it's noisy. One member of staff was more than a little snobby but the rest were lovely.

Big room, big bathroom with french balkony, very clean and at very good location. We didn't like the breakfast room which was at the basement. We also found it a bit expensive. The main elevator is very small and quite slow. Not everyone in reception speaks English.

Fantastic little hotel of a high standard. Staff are excellent. The rooms are very good and clean. The hotel is not far from all the main attractions but far enough away to be quiet and secluded. We must mention Lionel who gave us loads of good advice and some lovely restaurant recommendations. If we decide to come back to Nice we wouldn't hesitate to stay at La Villa again.

This is a good hotel in an excellent location for exploring Nice. The street was in a quiet area just a short distance from the centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast choice was limited and drinks were available on request at the small bar area. Some of the communal areas needed freshened up (particularly the lift) but the room was clean and comfortable (though smallish with limited balcony space). Bathroom good size and cleaned perfectly. Would stay again. Good value.

Not a single smile from the staff. They did answer to a greeting if you said it first and loud enough but they'd have been the happiest just to stare at their screen when you walked past about 2 meters away. The room was very small and very noisy. I stayed for a week so I don't expect they gave me the lousiest room, so be prepared for a very cramped and noisy room.

Great location and extremely new/clean hotel. Walking distance from the city center, with very helpful concierge. Breakfast options were okay, we skipped the hot food and opted for OJ and pastries in the morning on our way out. Very comfortable beds and great bathrooms! Counting down the days till we return.

We stayed at this lovely boutique hotel for two nights. Walked to old town, went to the top of the hill (free elevator ride!), enjoyed lunch on the promenade, close to the beach! Our room was lovely, clean and the concierge(s) were very helpful. There is construction in front of the hotel, but didn't bother our sleeping at all. Enjoyed steping out onto our own 'Juliet' balcony.

I really liked this hotel, the rooms were comfortable and the reception areas and breakfast bar were nice too. The breakfast was adequate, not fantastic, but not bad either. A normal continental breakfast for a 3 star hotel. It was in quite a good location and only about 5 minutes walk from the promenade. Everything was lovely and clean. The reason I have only given it 3 stars, is 2 things. Firstly, my friend was told (and it is also advertised on their write up, that they have a 24 hour b... Read more

This is really excellent "average" hotel. Not a budget hotel, not a signature hotel - just "okay". If you are in Nice to go to the beach and places (in or outside Nice). This is a hotel for you and your family. If you are only after Beach, sun bathing and stuff - then i suggest you get the more expensive Promenade facing hotels. Contrary to recent review, I find the reception friendly. Do not expect bell boy or a bar tender (in fact, don't count their bar... its not really a "Nice" bar, i sugge... Read more

This place was nice, clean and had a boutique feel. It was at the top of our price range but we decided to treat ourselves. The stay was overall great. The room was not as small as I was led to believe from reviews. We got a room on the 5th floor which had tiny balconies we sat out on every day. I really liked the room. We had a standard. A few streets back from the beach area. Breakfast was $15 pp extra in a nice area downstairs...if going back to Nice would definitely book here.Recommended.

Stayed here for our honeymoon and it was great. The room was beautiful with great views. There was a massive bathroom with everything you need (except perhaps a plug for shavers). The only issue would be that the wifi connection is not very good. It was very temperamental and often we could not connect. Nevertheless for a holiday and not a business trip, I would definitely recommend it.

The hotel is in a very good location, 5-10 minutes walk to the promenade and about 15-20 min walk to the train station. The decor was nice, the room was very small, wall paint is starting to peel off, we struggled every night with the AC that would stop working in the middle of the night for no obvious reason. The bathroom was very clean with good supplies. Some of the staff members were rude, a friend of ours left a sun block cream for us at the reception and when we asked the receptionist abou... We stayed for 2 nights exploring Nice and Monaco. The room was modern, well decorated and had the best shower of all the hotels we've stayed in this week. I recently spent 5 nights here in a standard room. Check in was a breeze, and every time I came to and from the hotel the staff were very pleasant. One gentleman even gave me very detailed directions on how to get to Eze Village (a must see!). The room was good size and clean, a comfortable bed and a lovely view to the church across the street. Hotel and room very clean and newly decorated in silverly grey colours throughout. Bathroom was large and impeccably clean. Modern rooms with air conditioning. Tea and coffee available in reception but no tea or coffee making facilities in room (not that we could find anyway). Centrally located hotel - very relaxed with staff being attentive but not overpowering. We would definitely stay here again should we return to Nice.

I arrived late at the hotel and I was welcomed nicely. Very smooth check in, straight to my room. The room could use some paint and the ceiling needs to be redone. The interior of the room is very minimalistic. The breakfast was quite nice, with great service and enough choice for a good breakfast. The check out very smooth and friendly again. My first time traveling to europe. Easily got to hotel by riding Bus 89 from airport. Hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and it was a short walk to the beach and train station. Hotel does have a slow elevator and the shower is one of those fancy half door ones so you end up spilling water all over the bathroom floor. But other than that it was a pleasant stay.

No issues with check in/check out. Close to old town. Close to train station (about 13 minute walk each way). Overall, pleasant staff. This hotel is very pretty and in an excellent part of town for walking to shops and restaurants, and only about 4-5 blocks from the beach. The staff were excellent and spoke English well, much better than my French. My single suggestion is to upgrade the mattresses - they were a bit hard.

The location this hotel is great. A 15 minute stroll to everywhere worth visiting in nice and away from the scruffy backstreets. There are some great restaurants just around the corner for breakfast and dinner. The quality of the hotel inside and out is very good. We were on the fourth floor which was surprisingly quiet. Standard of rooms is very good. No room service though and breakfast choice is not good. We would definitely stay here again.

Just returned from a 4 night stay and would stay here again. The hotel is within a beautiful period building on a lovely boulevard ( however at present the boulevard is being dug up so not exactly picturesque, this did not bother us as most of the disruption is further along the avenue). This is a great small hotel in a good location for the promenade and railway station. There are some very good restaurants within a short walk. On entering you can see a designer has had a hand in arranging things ,which is lovely in the reception area, but a couple of things in the bedroom could be more practical. I mirror the other reviews here and agree the hotel is pleasant. The building is attractive and the location is ideal. It would be difficult to award the hotel 5 stars because there are several facilities lacking such as kettle, iron, dressing-gown, mini bar, room service etc. This didn't overall affect our stay but to say improvement isn't possible would be overly generous I think.
