Stayed here for 3 nights and was suitably impressed. Large suite with kitchen, separate living area with table and sofa (converts into a double bed),huge bathroom and large bedroom with plenty of wardrobe space! Perfectly located just a few streets back from the Promenade and a few minutes from the pedestrianised area. Lovely rooftop area and pool with gym equipment,if slightly on the small side. We had breakfast included and it was really good, nice selection of continental and hot options. Bre... Read more

This hotel is well located about 5min walk from the old town and just few blocks away from the beach. The hotel offers good value for money during the off season period. Junior suites are spacious and big bathtub was a nice surprise. PARKING: If you rent a car you can park it by the street free of charge daily from 20.00 to 09.00 o'clock. During the daytime maximun parking time is 2 hours which costs about 2,60 â?¬. So, you might not need parking garage service the hotel offers for 25 â?¬ if you... Read more

The front desk staff needs some work on being friendly.the best service was from the restuarant staff. The hotel is very noisy and the room was just ok. The location was great and you can walk to the center of town for food and shopping.

Good location. Very nice and helpful personnel, assisted us with a lot of stuff and had some great tips on where to eat and what to do. Rooms are ok, but nothing spectacular. Pool area was nice but quite busy. Breakfast wasn't really price worthy, suggest eating out. I would stay here again.

Stayed there in the end of April for three nights. Very helpful staff. Nice and friendly. I could change my room and I am very thankful for that. First room was noisy as next to traffic. Overall great room. Very clean. Big bathroom and nice kitchen corner. Did not need public transport during the stay as the hotel is close to sea and the centre but otherwise the bus stop is just some metres from the hotel. Carrefour express is also very close. Enjoyed the pool and sauna.

I booked this place, fairly last minute, forgetting the Cannes festival, the Grand Prix and the Summer break, when I tried many of the places I had stayed in before I found them all to be booked or they couldn't offer me a full week. I have stayed nearby and have passed Goldstar on many occasions so We decided to give it a try, and there aren't many hotels with a pool in Nice Centre. On arrival we were greeted by very pleasant and helpful staff we were allocated room 405, which on first appear... Read more

My family stayed at the Goldstar for 4 nights. Great location quieter then old town. Very spacious rooms. Helpful staff. When I arrived I needed help with a tour I had booked and they called and made sure everything was set up correctly. Easy to get to places by walking. Only a couple of blocks from the promenade. Walking distance to great restaurants. Would highly recommend.

We book a room with 3 single beds - we got two and a sofa bed - this is very different to 3 single beds if you want a comfortable sleep. The subsequent use of a sofa bed makes the so-called suite a very cramped and tiny affair. There were many aspects of our stay which failed to meet the expectations of a four star hotel: - cramped room - poor shower temperature control - a "glamorous" swimming pool where you hit your head on the walk bridge - the type of service where getting a new key card ... Recently stayed 1 night in the junior suite - very nice room, spacious, modern and clean. Sound proof room with sun shutters which was great. Free Wi-Fi was included. You expected the good things anyway if you paid 700 Euros per night. It was incredibly expensive - thanks to UEFA Euro game on that night! However, stingy toiletries in the bathroom and we expected a lot more given it was a suite. Power save water in the shower which was not great. A/C needs to be improved as it was not powerful en... This was just an okay hotel. The best thing is the rooftop pool area. However the room itself is just average and needs some updates/modern touches. For one, its just set up very strange. When you come in, you're in the kitchen and then have to walk through a living area in order to get to the bedroom. There was a serious lack of outlets and all of them were in strange places (like behind chairs or in the other room but none right next to the bed and none of the bathroom. Secondly the bathroom i... One of the most important things I like in a hotel is to feel welcome at the reception. The staff at Goldstar needs big improvements there. And that kind of set the tone. But the room was good and big for French standards and location is really good. Breakfast is under average. Like I said, could be great but.... Needs lots of improvements.

We stayed here for a week last December. We were in a junior suite. The room was quite spacious with a long, open-plan kitchenette, and a small dining table, which was handy as we preferred to have breakfast in the room - with crispy, warm croissants and aromatic coffee from a fantastic local bakery - and luscious home-made preserves - than to have the standard breakfast at the hotel! The location was probably the best thing about it - just a short walk from the Promenade des Anglais, rue Mas... Read more

Lovely clean accommodation with friendly staff. Our Suite had a decent size double bedroom, a small sitting room with pull down bed and a kitchen with small hob, microwave and fridge, and a lovely spacious bathroom. The hotel (all suites) is excellent with a slight oriential feel to it.The staff were all very helpful and pleasant, particularly those working on reception. The fact that we spoke very little french was not a problem (in the hotel or out and about). Stayed at the Goldstar Hotel for 4 nights in September. Hotel was great. Location, rooms, facilities and breakfast were all good. We were lucky enough to have good weather and made the most of it- Swimming pool and a roof terrace was a big hit! Staff were all friendly and rooms were always cleaned to a high standard. Plenty of restaurants around to eat out and less that 5 min walk to the promenade. Would definitely recommend and would stay again. Also loved the glass lift!!

After reading reviews & looking at photos I thought this place would be nice but unfortunately it wasn't - at best a 2-3 star hotel. Firstly the car park - it is so tiny and tight!! You need someone out of the car guiding you as its so tight & stressful. A main reason we booked this was the pool for our daughter as as was dying to go swimming. The photos make this area look a lot nicer than the photos unfortunately. They say a roof top bar but my husband wanted 20 minutes with no sign off staf... Read more

The Goldstar Resort is located a few minutes walk from the Promenade Des Anglais. We did not eat in the hotel. There are lots of places to eat in the locality & a super breakfast cafe Co-t Cafe which serve great breakfasts. We had a suite which meant our room on the 5th floor was really spacious. The reception staff were so helpful making sure we were armed with the correct bus information & tourist advice at all times. There is a small pool & sun terrace on the top floor.

The service in the Hotel has earned this high rating. All staff were very friendly and helpful. From taking our bags to our room when we arrived, helping with sightseeing to bringing freshly baked croissants to our breakfast table because they knew we were waiting for them. Based on the quality of some of the materials used in the building, I can see how this used to be a 4 star hotel ... but it is not anymore. The hotel is in urgent need to renovation ... panels missing in the sliding windows of the pool; leaking pipes in the toilet; dirty pool; ... The staff experience was mixed: friendly at breakfast and the bar / not so friendly at reception. If you are looking for a "real" 4 star ... better wait until the building is revamped, and some of the staff changed !

But Goldstar is not what the pictures lead you to believe! The only plus points are the size of the rooms/suites and the quality of the cleaning. We were there for the marathon and have enjoyed an upgrade to an Ambassador Suite. It was very spacious with a huge bathroom and it was also very calm as the hotel is not directly on the main thoroughfares. Staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast on the top floor and good.
