Very well managed hotel in an excellent and quiet location for City and Pompidou Centre. Excellent breakfast buffet. Staff all helpful - reception gave sound advice on local restaurants. Good size room.

We stayed twice in a row overnight in the Mercure in Metz. The service was friendly, the breakfast buffet nice and the location very convenient. The rooms are comfy and there is a fenced guest parking. Just around the corner there are plenty of small restaurants and bars with a lively atmosphere although it's obvious that the city suffers an economic crisis. The Centre Pompidou is not far by foot and worth a visit.

Unfortunately I can't say much about the price, since I was not the one paying, but I can tell it's a very nice and clean location, with very polite and helpful staff. Rooms are very good and the food was just great (I had there dinner and breakfast). They also have a big free parking and the hotel is located in the center of Metz, so pretty good for taking a walk.

It's a pity to pay almost â?¬180 / night and with an inside room temperature between 25 en 30 degrees that the hotel refused to switch on the air conditioning. So if you're not visiting this hotel in the summer, remind that the rooms are just that bit too warm to sleep. So better avoid the hotel if you don't like high room temperatures during the night. PS; I visited the hotel in May.

We recently stayed 1 night at The Mercure and found it to be a perfectly adequate hotel in a good location with free parking behind the hotel. The breakfast buffet, while a bit expensive, was very good. The room was basic with firm beds but provided all we needed with the added bonus of tea/coffee making facilities. The location was great as there were some great restaurants nearby and it was an easy walk to all the sights Metz has to offer. Pleasantly surprised by how lovely Metz is.

Myself and a friend stayed in this hotel earlier this month. It is just a three minute walk from the train station so very handily located. The room was fine with comfortable beds and lots of choice on the tv. Tea and coffee were provided in the room as well and there was a small fridge with a complimentary bottle of water which was well received. The bathroom had good facilities with plenty fresh towels and a powerful shower too. Breakfast was typically continental in substance and was most enj... Read more

Breakfast was the usual mixture of a bit of everything so even the most fussy could eat . The rooms were light and airy and we were at back of hotel so fairly quiet also tea/coffee provided with small fridge with free water bathroom was of a standard you hope to find great shower and cleaned to high s... A very pleasant, friendly hotel close to Metz centre. The staff are helpful & speak good English. We use it as a stopover on the way to Italy & will do so again. Parking is secure & they take dogs. The rooms are clean & comfortable & the hotel is in a quiet location. All in all, great for a transit stop.

I visited this hotel on my way back from a business trip in southern France. The hotel is nice, being a le club Accorhotels member I got a privilege room for free. The room was nice. The free secured parking in the back of the hotel gives a safe feeling whilst storing your car. The bar is OK, no beers on draft which is a pity. The wines from Mercure's cellar are nice and tasteful. The hotel is located on a nice spot, on a five minute walk from the city centre. Breakfast is typical Frenc... Read more

Metz works as a stop over to our summer holiday and didn't hesitate in using the same hotel. We stayed one night. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. Tea/ coffee making facilities were in the room. Parking outside in a secure area was free. Fairly central location.

Nice enough for a stop-over, clean rooms & bathroom (but the shower leaks all over the floor) and a very comfy bed. Free secure parking for our motorbike. Staff were polite but not much effort to be helpful, had to ask for a map and was quite difficult to find bar staff (also not very friendly). Nice bar area with comfy chairs. Breakfast was really bad, very busy and hot dining area, undrinkable weak tea, congealed eggs, warm yoghurt, unripe fruit, items were not replenished so thank goodness f... Read more

Stayed here for an overnight stop. The hotel is located on the edge of the town centre. Easy access from the main road network. On site secure parking. Short walk to shopping centre, restaurants and river. Modern and clean rooms with good facilities. Staff very friendly and attentive. Very enjoyable continental style breakfast. Good stopover for travelling up and down France.

A bit dated but functional and comfortable with spacious room and bathroom. Location makes it very walkable to centre of town and Centre Pompidou. Secured parking included in price. I booked months in advance with full payment at members' price (advance booking special) but apparently a later promotion made my deal appeared expensive (around 20â?¬ off, breakfast included) so should have waited.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. 2 adults & 2 children so we had 2 interconnected rooms. The rooms are dated & small, a bit dusty but ok. There was secure parking but it was full on our second night so we ended up having to search nearby streets for parking. Annoyingly we were only given the code to exit the car park on checkout - up to that we were forced to make an international Call to get out of the carpark. The hotel was fine, nothing especially good or bad about it.

Very comfortable room. Offered free breakfast because Accor member and over 60 (not come across this before). Helpful staff. Close to centre. Came for Mirabelle festival but this wasn't what we expected - this hotel made up for our disappointment. Use this chain regularly and this is one of the best we've come across.

Within walking distance of the city and its sights and with secure car parking this is an ideal base to stay and explore the city of Metz. Check in no issues with all staff having good levels of English. We stayed two nights and our room was fine, wi fi perfect and if you cannot live without it BBC world television. I know that it is my fault but the young serving staff of the restaurant both in the evening and for morning breakfast had very poor command of English. Not something I would have ex... Read more

A convenient stopover heading north through France to Zeebrugge. Secure car park with code activated barrier to exit. We had a standard room which was large but basic. I had booked via Accor site, package included a free drink each. We enjoyed this in their comfortable bar area. We walked for ages trying to find somewhere to eat after 9pm on a Thursday night. Breakfast was enjoyable in a modern restaurant area.

Stayed for one night during motorcycle tour. Staff helpful and fluent English- secure parking at rear which was free. Room was basic standard but clean and I had no issues. Breakfast was usual continental with scrambled eggs, coffee from a machine and range of meets, cheese, cereals. I didn't use the bar or restaurant. £97 which included breakfast and the parking so good value.

All good in general - as one would expect from this kind of establishment. I believe I even got upgraded to a better room for which I say thank you. I was a bit disgruntled though by the handyman who insisted that he had to do something in the bathroom while I was in an important conference call. I told him "no" but he briefly came in anyway. I had to ask him to leave. Not good :-( Not disastrous either ...

The location of this hotel was ok,a 10 minute walk to the Cathedral but the area rather run down and it didn't feel safe after dark. The room was rather cramped and resembled an Ibis room in size and decor. The bathroom minute. Tea/coffee facilities in the room but the cups made of cardboard so not pleasant. The restaurant was excellent despite rather erratic service. However, the restaurant closed on the weekend!

Upon arrival by car. The hotel has a secure parking area out back. Unfortunately the corridor from the car park to reception had a very strong sewage smell. This lasted the whole 2 days we was there. Check in was quick and pleasant. The receptionist spoke good English and helped to advise on the hotel and location; especially places to eat on a Sunday night. The room is basic but reasonable size. The shower screen needs to be bigger to stop the floor getting wet. WiFi worked well and was free. T... Read more

We stayed for three nights. The room was modern, clean and quiet. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Secure parking at the back of the hotel was a bonus. It is located within walking distance to plenty of places to eat and the cathedral and shopping area. Only negatives were the size of the cardboard coffee cups in the room. We don't mind them being cardboard, but not everyone wants a tiny espresso! Also, staff smoking at the entrance to the hotel, in the doorway, is not a good loo... Read more

Modern, comfortable rooms with good parking at the back of the hotel and just a short walk to the centre of town. Only downside was the lack of real vegetarian food at the buffet dinner we had, although that complaint is basically true for the whole of France!

Don't stay in this hotel. We stayed one night. It was horrible. In the evening the dog next to our room - yes the allow dogs in the hotel (yuck!!!) - was constantly barking. The next morning I had 20 awful itching bites from bed bugs. When we killed them, they left big red spots on the blanket (my blood). The bites got heavily infected. I have to take antibiotic creme, cortisone creme and antihistamines pills. It will take weeks to heal. Last not least we almost drowned the toilet when we flushe... Read more
