This is an architectural masterpiece having been transformed from a former hospital for which it has won several awards. Close to port. Excellent staff snd concierge service. Beautiful interiors and landscaping. Reasonably priced. Would stay here again.

First of all, it is a fact that this hotel is one of the very best hotels in Marseille. Its presence, location and facilities are absolutely wonderful. And it is sad that I have to share my experience. I stayed there for one night, since I was traveling around southern part of France by car with my husband and we didn't get to stay in Marseille for long. A male receptionist helped me when I was checking in. I am Asian, specifically Korean. I gave my passport to him when I checked in. However wh... Read more

We were here for just one night - our first night in Marseille on our way to a smaller town in Provence. We checked in before noon. Our room was not quite ready, so we were escorted to the hotel lounge on the second floor where we enjoyed a glass of wine and local cheeses. The receptionist came to us when our room was ready, about 30 minutes later. She handed us our keys, took us to the elevator, and had already had our bags delivered to our room. Every interaction we had with any of the st... Read more

The Intercontinental Marseille Hotel Dieu is a set within a stunningly renovated former hospital - hence the name. The view of the cathedral of Notre Dame de la Garde and the Vieux Port (Old Harbour). The rooms are very spacious and simply appointed in blacks and Browns against a white background. We were fortunate enough to stay in a Prestige Suite on the 3rd Floor which was very spacious with a large separate lounge, spacious bedroom and beautifully appointed bathroom. The view across the fr... Read more

An absolutely fantastic hotel. A wonderful refurbishment of an historic building. Beautifully designed with care paid to every detail. The service is efficient and friendly. The best hotel in Marseille.

This is a huge luxury hotel. Bus tours, corporate meetings, etc. We like small luxury hotels. Hotel personnel good but impersonal. We went to the bar the first night and really liked it - small with a good bar menu. The next night everyone was outside and we were told they'd prefer we go there. It was in the high 50's and chllly but they told us they had heaters and could give us a blanket. Really? Wrap ourselves in a blanket and have a glass of wine. The restaurant served a 3 cou... This property really is an outstanding Intercontinental Hotel in France. Upon arrival the modern and stylish lobby inside this historic building already beats you down. The friendly and helpful staff was helping us with the checkin very efficiently. Unlike some other (even 5*) properties in France, staff was really willing to communicate in english and als had great language skills. The rooms assigned were very nice inside. We had a Suite on the 7th floor overlooking the harbour from a private ... Read more

What a superb hotel. Great location in the old town. The hotel is modern and immaculate inside although it was the former hospital and the facade is listed. Staff in the hotel are all extremely friendly and helpful from the moment you walk through the door. Rooms are very comfortable and have everything you may need. The concierge was very helpful in recommending walking tours and restaurants. Whilst we ate out of the hotel in the evening, the food at breakfast was excellent and there was a good... Read more

The hotel it self is beautiful and the room was lovely. It's in a good location for exploring the nicer parts of Marseille. However, for the price you get nothing included, you have to pay to use the sauna etc, you have to pay for parking, you pay ?39 each for breakfast and when the rooms are that expensive I think it's cheeky to add on so many extras. Not quite sure what it is is they are charging you for.

Luxurious hotel in a spectacular setting. Rooms luxurious and comfortable. Breakfast in the hotel was a wonderful array of fresh foods to suit any palate or dietary requirement right down to orange juice pressed in your presence. Rooms with a city and harbour view are a modest premium, but all rooms comfortable and spacious.

We were gifted one ticket for the Eurocup match (England v Russia) and we were staying in Cap d'ail but my husband does not turn down a free EuroCup ticket so we decided to go. However, when I told our friends that I was just going to "hang around" alone in Marseille, all my friends became very concerned because Marseille is not a safe place for a single lady to "hang out". In addition, there had been riots between England and Russian fans and one fan nearly died. So we looked up 5 star hotel... Read more

I hate leaving bad reviews and although the hotel is a beautiful building the arrogance of the staff was off the scale ! The whole week was a battle with slow, condescending and dismissive service. One of the managers did apologise at one point and was very very nice. She trained in the US ! It's a beautiful building though. The rooms are well appointed. Mine faced the harbour, and was lovely but the whole experience for us as a group was marred by arrogant, pompous service.

Highly recommend this outstanding hotel which is in an excellent location.Staff couldn't do enough for you.Our four night stay was extremely enjoyable. Overlooks the port and you won't find better accomadation in Marselle. 10/10 in every aspect says it all.

This is a beautifully restored hotel with friendly and attentive staff. The real star is the building itself and the location which are both exceptional. The stairs and arched hallways are truly stunning. Quality of food and drink is good but expensive.

Absolutely "stunning" hotel. Amazing views, halls and "viewpoints" throughout. With well-appointed rooms with good setup and clean. Although somewhat modern, have a great fusion between old & classic. Our room was excellent and all we expected! Restaurant is upper end but equally good! All well priced and good ratio between price and quality. Strongly recommend!!!

This is a pretty incredible hotel. It is stunning on both the inside and outside. The rooms are very modern and spacious as are the bathrooms and common areas. The second floor bar has amazing views at night and a perfect ambiance for enjoying an evening cocktail. The breakfast is over-the-top in terms of selection and quality and the restaurant (Alcyone) is probably the best restaurant at which we have ever eaten. We had one small problem with our room not smelling good due to a prior gues... Read more

Great gorgeous hotel. Rated 4, not 5, because of better breakfast buffet for 5 stars, and overpriced. However, great experience and very professional staff, especially the breakfast manager Alex. Beautiful room and garden. The hotel NEEDS an outside pool!

We stayed here for a week in May for a break in the sunshine. Lovely room with a fabulous balcony, lovely view, so relaxing it took us all our time to venture out. Loved the spa, the restaurant, the whole experience was great, hope to be back! The hotel is very central, easy access to the harbour and other restaurants.

Very well appointed and comfortable hotel. Staff most charming and helpful. We had a courtyard room therefore no view but well appointed with excellent beds and room accessories. Location first class with views down over the old port and a direct stroll down to it with all its cafes/restaurants etc.

After a 400 Km bus ride from Mâcon, France we arrived late and had dinner with our Vantage river cruise shipmates at a hotel across town. Our group would remain in Marseilles for a three day extension and we were booked at the InterContinental Marseille - Hotel Dieu. Our bus driver took our luggage to our hotel while we had dinner. We later continued on by way of taxi to the InterContinental. Everything was all set up. Our luggage was in our room and we were exhausted. The room was spectacula... Read more

Beautiful hotel, perfect location, close to everything. Very luxurious, very welcoming. Don't miss the pool, the bar at sunset, the great recommendations by the concierge. The proximity to the old city/old port is priceless. Family rooms worked great for our family of 4, with 2 teenagers.

When you arrive at the hotel the sheer beauty and grandeur of the building and its settings will amaze you. Once you get past the exterior the interior of the hotel is just as beautiful with well appointed rooms. It's location is also great being close to town centre and it beautiful harbour lined with restaurants and bars. You must make sure you have a drink on the terrace bar which has a great view of the city and the beautiful Notre-Dame De La Garde.

The hotel entrance is a long but beautiful stairway, or driveway. If you are walking from the old port there is also a huge stairway. Exhausting. Its the location so I realise the hotel can't change it.
