The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had a personal crisis and they did anything and everything they could to help us. In addition, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is excellent as you are right across from the train station and only a 10 - 15 minute walk to the Vieux Port. The breakfast was a good start to the day. I highly recommend this place.

Well located directly across the train station. This hotel is "funky". The hallway and decor are a bit odd. The rooms are ok but not exceptional. There was a strange blue light in the bathroom that we couldn't turn off. There were strange vibrations once in a while until after midnight. However, the staff were friendly enough and the bed was comfortable.

As long as you understand what a Holiday Inn Express is, you may not be disappointed. The rooms are still clean and the beds comfy like any Holiday Inn, and the pillows comfy. The staff are, as always, very friendly and helpful. However, there wasn't even a whisper of any food in the hotel post-breakfast, and arriving late at night with family, this was difficult. No kettle, no mugs. The breakfast the next morning was terrible - deli meats were not tasty, eggs were horrible with no option f... Read more

My boyfriend and I came to Marseille for the euro cup 2016 to watch England vs Russia. After erroneously booking a hotel too far away from the stadium we were lucky and able to make a last minute reservation here and so glad we did. The service was great even with the crazy crowds for the game. Breakfast was standard for France, but you could count on a good coffee and crosaint. Unfortunately our AC didn't work so it was really hot in our room, but it was worth dealing with for the convenience... Read more

This hotel is just across the street from the main train station which makes this a great hotel if you will be arriving late or leaving early. Theres also a metro station at the train station which makes it easy to get to many areas. However, I wasn't very impressed with the area the hotel is in and next time I will stay closer to the water. The room looked like it had been halfway updated in the last few years but at the same time, there were some stains on the couch and lots of marks on the... Read more

The hotel is right next to the train station and thus also next to the metro station of St. Charles. For sightseeing its location is great and we frequently bought a day pass for unlimited usage of buses, trams and metro. If you get the city pass, this is also included. The hotel itself is really basic, it doesn't have any extra specialities and doesn't really serve food except for breakfast. However it has a nice terrace to sit in the evenings and have a drink and you may shop at the Carrefou... Read more

My dad and I were having a European trip together and were using Airbnb. Every Airbnb place was great...until we got to Marseille. I had no idea the entire city was a dirty, chaotic, ghetto. The apartment we rented was right off the harbor at the opera, however, it was overrun with kids shooting off fireworks at 11 at night. At that point I pulled up Holiday Inn and found this place. He had a room and within 30 minutes we were in a wonderfully quiet, comfortable room. Pascal was the manager on d... Read more

Enjoyed a 2 night stay here. We literally carried our luggage across the road from train station and checked in. We had a triple room and it was clean and not too small. The old port was just a 15 min walk from the hotel. The metro station is also across the street if you'd rather take that to explore. There is a bus to the airport at the train station as well which was super convenient. Overall great base camp for Marseille.

if you are going to use the metro or national rail a fair bit, this is the place to stay: it is just a minute's walk from the Saint Charles station. it's also a couple of stops from the Old Port and 15 minutes from the stadium. there are decent food and grocery options nearby and the surroundings are generally quite safe if one takes the usual precautions. comes with free breakfast and cheap private parking. the alternative to this hotel for this location is the Ibis, but that doesn't come with... I chose the holiday Inn near the Marseille-Saint Charles station because I had an early morning train departure. I was really impressed by the standard of service, accommodation and the breakfast. Large modern room with excellent soundproofing, charming check in staff and just a hundred meters walk to my train after a great breakfast. I had been staying in the old port area but would use this as my base in future.

Very comfy hotel with good staff. The rooms are huge. Really like the breakfast service. Wi-fi is free but sadly slow. There is 24h bar and this is good, because it was quite hard to find a place to drink during the night near the hotel.

This hotel had many nice people working there. We ordered a normal room with one big bed but when we requested, they gave us a room with two beds. Most rooms faced the ocean. It was close to the train station and also close to a bus stop. The breakfast was great too.

Do you have legs, you can always take a short walk :)). about 30min airport, by taxi about 50Euro. The bus to the airport gets about 200m from the hotel. Highly recommended.

When my friends told me they booked Holiday Inn Express for our 2 night stay in Marseille, I was terrified. Right IN FRONT of the main Railway Station, not too expensive, I imagined it dirty, noisy and unfriendly. In fact, it was quite ok, good value for money. Service is friendly, rooms are large and clean. The only issue - yes, it is a little bit noisy if you keep the window open (I did) and the breakfast is not very generous - no hot meals (eggs/saussages, etc.). Quite practical, just to cros... A decent hotel with good facilities and conveniently located for the metro to the Vieux Port, only two stops away. We stayed there for two nights and chose the room with a panoramic view of Marseille and the Vieux Port and were not disappointed. Our room was on the 7th floor and was clean, quiet and comfortable. When booking a room at an internationally known hotel brand in a cosmopolitan city in a western developed country that advertises wi-fi access in all rooms, can one expect to be able to connect to the internet? Not here. We spent three fruitless days trying, not being able to send or receive a single e-mail on phones, tablets or lap-top. The very nice receptionist declared it 'normal' but assured us the telephones worked. Couldn't be bothered to complain further, somewhere else next time for us.

I arrived late from Paris and booked at the HI Express directly across from the station. The hotel is modern and it took two minutes to check in. I was given a nice room with harbor view which was beautiful at night and during the day. The breakfast area is very nice and breakfast was good. There are few restaurants and shops around and you can always go inside the station shops too.

It turns out, there is not a hotel shuttle.
