When you arrive at Hotel du Sud, you immediately encounter what I think is the only real drawback - a long flight of steps up to reception. As we had heavy luggage, this was a small problem, but we managed. The elevator is very small - we had to send our cases up to our room one at a time, unaccompanied. Only a minor problem though. The staff were very friendly and helpful, answering any queries we had. While the room was small, it suited our needs, and at around 70€ per night was very good va... Read more

I stayed in the Hotel Du Sud for three nights , the location could not have been better , very close to the Marina , and shops , restaurants etc. The room was extremely small , but more than adequate , with a good bathroom. The lift has to be the world's smallest , and you still have to negotiate a very steep flight of stairs to get to the reception area. However , the hotel is still good , and value for money , though I would give the breakfast a miss , and eat out.

I stayed there for a short weekend in september, the place is very nicely located, One block from the old port. The room is clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. I will definitely return if I ever go to Marseille again for a weekend

This small hotel is in a small street close to Vieux Port - and this makes a perfect location for doing Marseille. Check in was ok - staff didn't seem very interested in feeling you welcome. The room was nice and decent, but the lift for the rooms were extremely small - I have never seen anything like this. You could hardly bring your bag with you. Bathroom was ok, and there was no noise at the room eventhough the hotel is very central. Wi-fi worked fine. Breakfast was on the expensive side comp... Read more

As in most French two-star hotels, the rooms here are compact, but they're well maintained, and the bathroom looked recently renovated and almost spacious. Staff are courteous and helpful in several languages. The breakfast is fairly basic, but was included in the room rate I booked, so it served to get the day started. Wifi worked okay, though required repeated sign-ins, and one could only use it on one device at a time (netbook or cellphone, but not both). Hotel is well located for exploring M... Read more
