Stayed here last weekend . Very impressed . The hotel is situated in the old part of Lyon high up overlooking the city , great views . The hotel booked us a very good walking tour of the city with good guide and a superb wine tasting day in the Cote du Rhone , neither cheap but both worth the money. More important nothing was to much trouble for the hotel, they moved one of us into another room when college asked for the room to be on one level rather than split , some places might have got diff... This is a delightful small hotel (operated by Relais & Chateaux). Staff is super helpful and friendly. The room was really interesting- with many different levels- not my wife's favorite. It is a bit on the expensive side but well worth it for a few nights. If I ever return to Lyon, I will definitely stay here.

My husband and I loved this hotel. We had a large wonderful room with a beautiful terrace overlooking the city. The staff was extremely helpful and very attentive. We look forward to visiting Villa Florentine in the very near future.

Carpet worn out in places ? The aircon in our room (first one) did not work. What is it in France with aircon installed but does not work ? Very annoying. We had the dreaded shower in the bath, but at least they had it installed as a shower, so you could pretend that you were in a real shower, if you closed your eyes. Morgan the concierge was helpful, as was Anne the acting manager. I have no idea why anyone would go to Lyon, but if you have to, this is an OK place to stay. No staff in the ... Read more

When the reception staff are so friendly and welcoming the stay can only be good. Nothing was too much trouble although we arrived early and left immediately for the City. Parking is straight-forward and you car looked after otherwise parking is impossible. It's a 250 step walk down to the centre of the Old Lyon ( not forgetting the 250 step upward journey ). For those not so nimble take the car to the funicular and get to the town from there. We were very unlucky with the weather and so the poo... Read more

Set atop Fourvière hillside in Vieux Lyon, Villa Florentine is a classy, sophisticated, modern hotel located in a 17th century building that was a monastery until relatively recently. In addition to the luxurious, spacious, and comfortable rooms, the hotel has a small fitness center, a gorgeous pool and jacuzzi overlooking the city, a sauna, and a Michelin-rated restaurant. At the end of a long trip around Europe I decided to splurge (a lot... and much more than I usually would) and spend 24 h... Read more

Beautiful views from centuries old buildings modernized for comfort and enjoyment. Exceptional staff. Lovely poolside dining with city views. A climb up hill from the center of old town, but worth the effort to us. Removed from the crowds but connected to the old areas.

I am writing this review based on the premise that Villa Florentine is rated as a 5-Star Chateaux and Relais rated hotel. Therefore standards are of high expectations. Overall the hotel can be described in one word - apathetic. I am not sure what the problem is, but from our arrival there seemed to be a sense of apathy among staff that baffled me. Besides the concierge, Nicolas and the outstanding food and service at the Terrace de Lyon restaurant, the rest of the hotel was in a bit of a cloud o... Read more

Excellent service from genuinely friendly staff with a welcome from the manager in person which was much appreciated. Super views from terraces; rooms and the breakfast area plus a decent sized outdoor pool with bar and loungers. The breakfast buffet choice was huge . The outdoor evening dining experience a real treat as the menu and food were of the highest quality. Bedrooms are spacious, well appointed and very comfortable. Being perched high up overlooking Lyon be prepared for some steep clim... Read more

We were in this hotel for a business meeting. The hotel room was ample and comfortable. Meals were very good, especially lunch and dinner. Great view over Lyon from the meeting room and restaurant. Walking distance to the historic center of Lyon. Only disadvantage is that some rooms are a little further away from the main building.

I had long desired to stay here since first seeing it on a brief trip to Lyon some years ago. Its surprisingly easy to drive to given its location. The staff are attentive and welcoming. The rooms are comfortable if a little dated and in need of some refurbishment (a lot of tarnished gold fittings circa 1980's) Very quiet and clean.

While the staff were excellent the building and the rooms were definitely not five star. It's a decaying "grand dame". Our junior suite was under ground, gloomy, dark, with no view and decaying walls. If you book make sure they guarantee your room has a view and natural light. Also make sure you are ok with a climb of 220 steps to get back to the hotel. taxis are hard to find.

We loved the lobby where the decor of the convent's chapel has been lovingly preserved, the helpful staff (the concierge got us the best table at wonderful restaurants), the views over Old Lyon, the warm jacuzzi even in the fall, the lovely cuisine in the restaurant and the great breakfasts eaten in our room. We liked less the steep climb, the one-way system which means you spend about 7-10 minutes in your taxi getting out of the area before you can make any real progress getting anywhere, and o... This hotel experience was one of the worst we have ever encountered! SERVICE? There wasn't any. ATTITUDE? Plenty of it! ADVERTISED VIEWS ? Yes, a brick wall with some ivy on it. And, to top it all off we had our iPad stolen from the car right by the front door. Think twice before booking this little gem One saving grace... The food was wonderful!

a beautiful chateaux on one of Lyon's hills the room was fantastic the service as well not even one complaint (except for the location of the enlarging mirror in the bathroom). The stuff did everything in order to make you satisfied and happy. breakfast was charming fresh and inviting I wish we could stay more time. We also had a fantastic dinner in the gourmet restaurant which I shall write about separately. Not cheap but worth every Euro we paid! very recommended!! t
