Our room was exactly the same as in the picture , very clean and very comfortable, although a small breakfast dining room the food was far beyond expectations including three or four hot items The staff were very efficient and friendly . We found the position of the hotel well placed to visit all the major site seeing attractions. I recommend any first time visitor to go on the open top bus tour

Exceeded expectations with large bathroom, heated towel rack, and central location. Clean, modern hotel with helpful staff. Comfortable queen size bed with quality linens. Quiet night's rest. Near shops, restaurants, and Bellacour Plaza.

Once we found the entrance of the hotel, my husband walked in, checked in, they said stop in the bus lane, everyone does! Well, we did, but the locals were not happy, we were honked, rude looks, but what can you do? In other cities we noticed hotels, had a sign on the footpath stating 2 minute drop or pickup spot. Mercure should get a sign. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable. The room was clean, quiet.

After a long flight, we were well greeted at the hotel reception. Situated on a beautiful street, this centrally located hotel has a lot going for it. The privilege rooms are big with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom equipped with all the amenities: towel warmer, fluffy towels and beauty products. It is a quiet hotel, but once you are out it is a busy street, filled with attractive stores and near the Rue de la République, a large and busy pedestrian mall, great for shopping. There is a... I had a really great experience here with my wife. I enjoyed our room, although the bathroom setup was a little awkward. We had a good view into the street of Lyon. I thought the service was really nice. They were very helpful before I came with restaurant suggestions and what to do in the city. They also helped out with a booking that I had at a restaurant nearby. We had a water heater, with coffee/tea bags, which I really enjoyed. The wifi speed was really good. The hotel itself is als... First visit to Lyon and this hotel was a splendid choice. It's situated in the old part and full of history and superb eating places. Nearby and across the river are the traboules, courtyards and facades - real hidden gems. Staff at the hotel spoke good English and were most helpful. Will certainly return.

We reserved months in advance for a quiet "privilege" room facing courtyard with optional breakfast, at "paid in advance" no-cancellation rate. We were upgraded to a privilege room with street and Republic Square view, with double windows which made the place (Room 212) as quiet as a tomb! Breakfasts option pricey but good with either soft / med / hard boiled egg maker or scrambled eggs buffet (nothing made to order), all kinds of coffee, tea, croissant, meat, cheese, hinky sausage, mystery baco... Great stay from start to finish. Staff helpful, genuine and welcoming when we arrived and when ever we asked for assistance during our time there. Our room was lovely, corner position with a balcony was generously proportioned and well appointed with a nespresso, comp mini bar and robes. It was my husbands birthday so they left a lovely treat of delicious macaroons too. Good location too, in the shopping district so plenty around but not too raucous at night as it might be in the old town. W... Read more

The hotel has quite nice lobby. The room just standard, I don't like the position of the window, is down below your waist. The bedside table is very2 small, you can barely put stuff on it. The bathroom and toilet are separated, this is the first I see design like this. If you wake up at night you might get confuse which door you'd go to.

There can be little doubt that this is a perfectly located hotel for most tourists what is more, though in the heart of the city it is surprisingly quiet. Most tourist destinations are easily accessible from here but while the next street is full of restaurants and the hotel staff helpfully recommends them I would avoid them, they are touristy and pretty dull. We had two reservations about the hotel, the toilet in our room was almost impossibly small making comfortable use a challenge, large p... Read more

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in a privilege room. It was big and spacious with a separate toilet and bathroom. The bed was big and comfortable and we slept really well. There was a Nespresso machine to make coffee in the room. We liked everything about this hotel, especially the location. It was in the middle of everything and we walked everywhere - restaurants, shops, sights. There was a good selection for breakfast. The hotel has a bar which opens in the evening but we did not... My partner and I stayed in a corner privilege room on the 5th floor with views overlooking the fountain in the square. Lovely location close to all of the tourist type restaurants and plenty of things to see just by wandering around. Hotel staff were extremely helpful with directions and maps (including locating a hairdresser for my other half to have his hair cut).

The hotel des Beaux Arts is located in the center of Lyon, place des Jacobins, à 5-minute-walk from place Bellecour and the metro and right next door to a pedestrian shopping street. This makes it perfect for tourists and business travelers alike. The hotel was renovated in 2014 and the rooms are fresh, clean and modern. Standard rooms are good already, with large beds, bathrooms with either shower (more modern) or bath (retening some of the old hotel style). All rooms are different in size ... Read more

Two night stay is definitely not long enough, could have stayed for a week. Excellent location for shopping & seeing the sights. Rooms very chic & boutique. Staff excellent & friendly, the only downsize, breakfast not included, also the breakfast not that great, breakfast room over crowded and well over priced compared to other hotels.

This was my favorite hotel we have ever stayed at in Europe. We had a corner room (509) with fabulous views of Place des Jacobins. The bed was nice and firm with crisp linens. Very spacious and beautifully decorated. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Great location in the center of the city with lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. Perfect in every way.

We opted for a "privilege room" and I think it is worth the extra for more space and the Nespresso machine. The hotel is located within walking distance of almost all the major sights in Lyon. Lyon itself is like a mini Paris(elegant bulildings, good shops, museums, lots of restaurants of very high standards) but without the hoards of tourists and traffic. THe staff at the hotel were very helpful especially when the day that we wanted to travel by train , we found out that there was a rail st... Read more

The Mercure Lyon Centre Beaux Arts is almost just as it sounds: a boutique hotel perfectly located in the absolute center of Lyon with a friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel and tidy, spotless rooms. I wrote "almost" because "Mercure" might suggest a standard chain hotel The Beaux Arts Hotel is actually an older hotel flawlessly updated after being acquired by Mercure. The "4" for facilities is only because the lobby, the rooms, the elevator and the breakfast area are all a bit crampe... Read more

What a pleasant surprise Lyon was. My wife and I went with several friends for a wedding (university friend whose husband is from Lyon). We booked a three night stay at the Mercure Lyon Beaux Arts Hotel and it was very peaceful and relaxing. The hotel was easy to get to from the airport. Mercure des Beaux Arts for four nights. Great location in center of Lyon and walking distance to metro and tourist information. As for the hotel the room was excellent. It is much larger than typical European hotel rooms and included a sofa, king size bed, big bathroom, and nice decorations and art work. The hotel downside is parking. In order to unload and check in you have to park illegally in front of the hotel in the bus lane (not a problem for French people) but a bit stressful for American... Read more

Great location (central but still quiet), nice old building but properly renovated, helpful and polite personnel, free drinks/tea during super hot days of >35 degrees. As o gold member i received an upgrade to an executive room, even though at first they did not offer the upgrade and i had to ask and reluctantly gave it away. As i have seen this attitude in other Mercure hotels too, please the managers of Mercure hotels or AccorHotels, stop this attitude, u may lose dedicated customers!

As many other reviewers have noted, the location of this hotel is excellent, being just a few minutes walk across the river from the Old Town and near to other popular districts. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and staff were friendly and helpful whenever we had a query. The air conditioning worked well which was a bonus with temperatures over 30 degrees outside. Most reviews have mentioned most of the things that are good about this hotel. For us it was virtually perfect, but there are one or two weak points. Comfortable, quiet, clean rooms with good air-conditioning, but there are no views. This should not matter, but could deter people who do not want to see the inner, small area around the staircase. We are elderly and of somewhat limited mobility, but that was no problem, but the lift is small, and you may wait a while at certain times- walking down... Read more

It was about 10 minutes by taxi from the TGV station to the hotel, and after a long journey by air and rail, we were thrilled to find ourselves here. The reception staff were welcoming and had so much info to share. Their restaurant advice was spot on for what we needed. While the hotel may look a little dated in the corridors, the room was very clean and roomy. Others have advised that it's worth going for the Privilege rooms, and that is true. Two reasons for choosing this hotel: it is in the very center of most of the action in Lyon and you can walk to most of the places to visit and, last but not least, it is a beautiful building with glamorous rooms and a well assorted bar next to the reception. You may want to skip the breakfast, since for the same price or less you have lots of options in the cafes in the nearby.

A city centre hotel but with no car park or restaurant makes it hard work. It might be OK for somebody able-bodied with little luggage and in dry weather.
