I was very pleasantly surprised with this hotel! My booking there was very much a last minute affair --I had planned on a day trip to Lyon, but at the last minute, I decided to try to spend the night, and I found a room at this hotel. The location is great, and very close (walking distance) to several of the bridges that take you across the river to the historic parts of Lyon. The room was immaculately clean! The bedsheets, the carpets, the bathroom... just really clean. The room's decoratio... Read more

I have been in Lyon last December (30 December-1January) in order to enjoy there the New Year's Eve and we have chosen the Alexandra hotel because of the good position and nice presentation of the rooms available online. Except for the small dimensions of these, it was a pleasant stay. The rooms are really beautiful, they look like the rooms of a mountain hotel, full of wood, with low lights, very romantic. The position is great, you can reach the city center by 10 minutes walk. You can enjoy yo... Read more

We had a very small but nice clean room at the 5th floor with a neat bathroom. Very good address for the night on our way to the Provence. Or for a visit to Lyon. Small parking underneath the hotel. Very lovely breakfast with a lot of homemade cakes, bread etc. Will definitely stay here again next time!

Alexandra is in a great location, in the center of Lyon and with a private parking area in the building. The staff is great. The rooms are modern and well appointed but you'll think you're in New York when you try to put a suitcase beside the bed. The rooms are small, even cramped. I initially couldn't find the shower because (in our room) you have to step around the toiled to get to the shower stall. On the plus side, the room we had was reasonably priced, but we skipped breakfast because two ... Read more

I read the reviews of the Alexandra, saying how small the rooms were. And they really were. I know I got a great deal on the standard room but, I were returning, I'd definitely pay a few more euros for a little more space. That said, the hotel couldn't be more central and the reception staff were very friendly. And the room was immaculately clean, too.

We had a family room and a double room in this centrally located modernised contemporary hotel. Very clean nice staff comfortable beds. No complaints. TIP: the hotel has a garage with limited parking space. Book if you want it - costs â?¬28. Rue Victor Hugo is pedestrianised but you can drive down it to garage.

A perfect hotel for a visitor to Lyon. Located right in the middle of the city close to everything you could possibly need. The rooms are small but clean and the lite terrace is a cute spot to wind down. The staff are friendly and efficient. I'd visit again.

Alexnadra is in the very heart of Lyon. You even have to drive in the "walk only" zone to get to it. It offer a private garage. It is rather small, you better reserve your parking place in advance. Hotel is old but nicely renovated. Small, clean and comfortable rooms, very helpful staff.

This small hotel is hidden away between the Rhone and Saone rivers, whilst being quiet, it is very close to the Metro at Ampere Victor Hugo and only a Short walk from La Place Bellecour. The staff are attentive and helpful and the rooms and facilities meet a high standard...I'll come again.

Stayed at the Hotel Alexandra for 2 nights while in Lyon. As we were travelling by train, the hotel was easy access from the Gare Part-dieu train station via metro to the Ampere Victor Hugo metro station (needed to change metro at Chapennese station). Cost of the metro was 1.80 euro each. On check in got a great room (number 32) that was overlooking Rue Victor Hugo (a great pedestrian mall with lots of shops). Our room was exceptionally clean & was perfect for us as we were only in our room to s... Read more

We just wanted a nice clean basic hotel and this is what it is. Very friendly staff greeted us upon arrival. The rooms were fairly small and basic but immaculate. The breakfast was overpriced and had we known better we should have had this in one of the cafes close by. I would recommend this hotel to anyone without hesitation.

Nice small hotel in city center of Lyon (shoppingstreet) and with private parking. Rooms rather small but ok for a city center hotel. Very clean and nice design. The strenght is also the friendlyness towards the customers, you feel at home, the ladies at the reception but also the breakfast lady are very customer focused and nice which in the end will make the difference.

The metro station (Ampére, line A), couldn't be any closer, and the roos are very large and decorated with q refined style. If not inlcuded in the price, breakfast is rather expensice, but just out of the main entrance you have a nice cafè, Paul and Brioche dorée, which respond to any budget you may have in mind. Also easily accessible with the Rhone express and the metro line. Absolutely for either a weekend or a loger stay.

Overpriced for what it is. We had prebooked a stay for here 4 nights, based on the great reviews and 4 star rating - but I cannot honestly agree with the glowing reviews and praise. Tiny rooms, dark, no fridge, minimal hotel facilities. Best part was being able to park the car on the premises, at a hefty cost of course. The staff were nice enough - not all could speak English - but they always made such an effort to communicate as best they could which I really appreciated as a foreign guest. My... Read more

This hotel is a few hundred metres from Parreche railway station and right at the Ampere Metro station on Line A. It is in the Rue Victor Hugo which might seem pedestrianised at first glance but which is actually quite busy with cars, vans and bicycles. But the hotel itself is very quiet - we had a room overlooking the street and were not disturbed. We were very grateful for the air-conditioning - the temperature outside was 30C or so. Most parts of the city that warrant a visit are within walk... Read more

The hotel room is nice with a good breakfast choices like breads, cheese, etc (you must try their hot chocolate). It was really near to the train station so it is convenient for a business travel who don't have many time. The room is not really big but it has a cabinet and a tea inside. You have free water you can get outside they provided in a small fridge.

A very central location in a pedestrian street, nice clean room a bit small, charming terrasse, the staff is very pro and kind. A bit noisy in the morning due to the cleaners in the street, but it's ok. I recommend it

This hotel is not highly visible from the street and is quite small. The reception is always helpful and friendly. The rooms are really small but comfortable. The shower has a lovely shower head but is tiny. It's a bit strange they put the kettle in the bathroom? The bed is very comfy. Breakfast is simple - but there is a selection of treats as well if you so desire. The location is great a few minutes walk from place bellacour and the metro is literally right there. The Alexandra is recently renovated and is in a great location about 10 minutes walk from the train station. There is Metro station directly outside of the hotel and the system is easy to use. I recommend the Lyon City Card which provides access to all major museums, river cruise and public transport. We also used the city hop on hop off to see parts of Lyon that we weren't able to see in other ways and it was good value. We arrived at the Hotel Alexandra after a long day at work, a delayed flight and endless trip through the ongoing works at Lyon airport. So how nice to be welcomed by a friendly man on reception. He phoned around three restaurants (all closed) before finding us an open brasserie. And excellent it was! Next morning we ate fantastic freshly baked cakes and fruit, compotes and yogurts at breakfast. I have stayed in many hotels but never experienced such personal and friendly staff at the buffet. The hotel, although convenient for central Lyon, was confusingly difficult to find as the entrance (on the first floor) and the small 8-space garage are accessed via the busy pedestrianised rue Victor Hugo. We had chosen a "chambre elegance" and I am glad that we did, because I cannot imagine how we would have coped with a smaller room. This room was small, yet this category is advertised as the largest in the hotel - Heaven help those who chose smaller rooms. The shower (no bath) was difficul... Read more

The Alexandra has apparently recently been renovated. Everything is very tastefully done. Room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Very well situated if going out on foot. Parking is limited however so we had to park some distance away. That said we could offload baggage at the door as cars are tolerated on the pedestrian street. Nearby there are some good spots to eat, but main eating spots are about 15 minutes walk. Being on the pedestrian zone means it's very quiet at night although a big truck... Read more

Perfect small hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Three of us shared one room for one night and it was perfect. The place is so secure and safe. They lock down the hotel after 10pm and you just have to buzz to get in. This place is so safe that we forgot to close our door, we left our door open for Gods sake. When we arrived back at midnight, everything was just the same that we left it. Nothing missing. Thank you to the great security!
