This is the place of the exquisite, elegant but also unexpected. You arrive at a hideout in the wilderness; surrounded by grapes, a huge forrest as well as wild pigs! It turns out to be a chateau & vinery with a first class restaurant, top notch rooms (some with terrace) and a service which is hard to match. The spa is brand new and offers state of the art treatments. Highly recommended; make sure you have more than 1 night......

We visited during Nov, there were four of us and it took a 1.5 hour drive there. On arrival it looks really nice. We did some wine tasting which was good and friendly staff although seemed a little lacking in knowledge. We decided to go to Le Bistro for some food and a coffee, this is where it all went wrong. The Bistro did not have enough staff to cope they kept ignoring us trying to get an order in. In turn, we went to the till to order instead but the lady running it was so rude telling us to... My husband and I stayed for one night. We came early, had a lovely lunch and lay by the pool afterwards. I teater myself to a massage in the spa whitch was amazing. Lovely dinner in the evening. Our room was everything we had hoped for with view. Standard room, but we could have asked for nothing more. Very friendly staff, great service. It is a bit pricy, but a real treat if one can afford it.

Stayed as a surprise treat for a weekend, there is absolutely nothing bad I can say about this little piece of paradise. The staff were friendly, food amazing and as for the tranquil setting that was just perfect. As a fellow mural painter I absolutely loved the art work on the walls, the detail was amazing. One tiny criticism, the wifi was not brilliant but when surrounded by such beauty it became irrelevant.

Sat outside and were served an amazing 5 course meal with wines. Attention to detail was excellent and probably destined for a Michelin star it 2? First class service food and drink. Spend some time walking through the beautiful gardens after lunch. This is very special

An exquisite place in a wonderful setting. We took advantage of a relaxing day to use the wonderful spa and indoor and outdoor pool. Lunch on the terrace should have been a delight. But it wasn't. Despite the incredible number of smiling staff we sat for nearly an hour before delicious home made bread was brought to the table. By then we had almost finished our wine. Our slightly peculiar starter of small pieces of vegetable was just about ok but the main course of sea bass was an insult t... Read more

I arrived with my husband on Friday for a weekend with family and a wedding that would take place at the hotel facilities. The place is absolutely beautiful, large rooms, cozy, amazing food, and all the good things you would expect from a Relais & Chateaux. However, on Saturday afternoon there was a thunderstorm (including hail), we had a power outage, and there was no power generator. As we had the wedding that afternoon, it was delayed for at least 4 hours, we had the ceremony with candle ligh... Read more

We were privileged to be invited for a significant birthday party weekend by great friends. What a treat! Difficult to find anything to fault in this cross between a Napa Valley and a Franchshoek winery. The service was unstintingly friendly and professional. The food was exceptional and wine delicious. Our room was extremely comfortable and highly appointed. The public spaces, pool and gardens were a delight. The winery very impressive. A fantastic weekend!

Our last day in Provence following a delightful week. The whole experience was rewarding. My only word of warning is that we found it very difficult to find, do ensure you have very clear directions, our Sat Nav became confused and at one point we even suspected it didn't exist! Do enjoy the chateau to the full, even the boule was fun!

We stayed at the Chateau de Berne for 2 nights for our wedding anniversary. We flew to Nice then hired a car and the journey took approx. 1 hour 20 minutes from the airport. We had the beautiful Jasmine Suite and the room was amazing. Lovely décor, an amazing bathroom which overlooked a courtyard and the fluffiest softest towels I've ever had at a hotel! Watch out for the 1 way glass - during the day you can see out but people can't see in but at night, if the lights are on, the whole bat... Read more

You just have to go here, its as simple as that! Tucked away in a quiet corner of Provence is this hidden gem. From sweeping vineyard vistas to kitchen gardens, fine dining and of course delightful rose that flows like water. It's a perfect place for a romantic weekend break. You are close enough (and far enough away) from Cannes, Monaco, St Tropez that you can take day trips without much of an issue. It's not going to be the cheapest trip you've taken but for special occasions or one of those "... Read more

Stunning Chateau with all of the trimmings. We spent a luxurious day out at the Day Spa, Pool and Bistro and although it was expensive in Provence terms, we had a glorious day and lived liked royalty. Our two young daughters even had an "enfant" massage, overpriced but gorgeous all the same. Chateau de Berne's Rose wines are fabulous, actually the best i tried in Provence and the Bistro tasty and staff lovely. The grounds of the Chateau are simply stunning and the hotel itself is remarkable. I w... Read more

This is a wonderful peaceful oasis in a marvellous location with attentive, well trained and enthusiastic staff who made our stay really special. We booked a four night relaxation package and enjoyed every moment of our stay in room 25. The view from the bath is not something that I usually write about, but my wife would gladly have stayed in it all day. (There is mirrored one way glass!) Stunning hotel...so many pleasant surprises there. Great rooms - ours had several balconies- fantastic restaurant on the territory, stunning swimming pool and even garden with vegetables and berries (also ducks and chickens living nearby, we visited and played with them). Very authentic, gorgeous and calm. All services are well designed and executed including the helicopter landing right on the territory - made it extremely easy to arrive and depart. Would definitely come back!

After a very busy period we wanted to book a short stay in a place that would allow us to get a good rest and not move really at all for a few days. The Chateau de Berne looked perfect. Sadly we found ourselves in the car everyday because it did just not provide us with the comfort we sought. It could be an amazing place, the view is just lovely, nestled in amongst the vines, beautiful gardens, clear night skies in which we could see shooting stars from our terrace. Food at the Chateau de Berne just gets better and better. We had lunch there last year and were frankly disappointed but we have been twice this summer and dining there now is one of life's pleasures. Innovative menu expertly cooked and superb service in elegant surroundings at a reasonable price. What more can one asked for?

When paying five star prices at a hotel member of Relais and Chateau you expect exceptional service and facilities. We have certainly had this at other member establishments. Chateau de Berne was closed last winter for a major refurbishment, so you would expect the fabric at least to be in good order. Why then was the catch on our bathroom door broken, so it could not be closed and the hand shower head damaged. We understand the door catch on at least one other bathroom was also broken. Clearly... 10 of us had a Birthday lunch. It was a beautiful Provencal sunny day and we sat outside. The setting is excellent. The staff were highly attentive, pleasant and most spoke English. The menus were in English as well. The selection for 1st, main and dessert was quite extensive and we, between us, sampled most. Superb presentation and deilcious to taste, without being overfaced. The hotel is in a stunning location in the Luberon forest. It is a bit remote, but this is not really a problem because the hotel has everything a guest would want if seeking quiet and beauty. The breakfasts are sumptuous, and the Bistro offers very good value. The formal restaurant is excellent, and surely will earn the Michelin star it seeks.

Although the grounds and public spaces are lovely, my accommodations and the service aren't close to the level to which I'm accustomed at the many other Relais and Chateaux affiliated properties where I've stayed. My room was small and unremarkable. The shower was tiny. It was surprising that a hotel at this price point would cut corners with their bathroom amenities, but rather than individual bottles of shampoo, shower gel, and hand soap, they cam out of the kind of large refillable dispensers...
