The property is definitely not going to be 'classed' as a traditional hotel in the sense of the furnishings and room set-up. It is a little funky and has been creatively laid out. Definitely not boring. An old building turned into a hotel. You will not be disappointed! Situated behind the opera house, easy walk to the Lille Flanders station (with luggage) and just off the main square. Very comfortable, all you need, good wifi, quiet outside and great staff. We were there for a conference: we wer... Read more

Our room was on the 5th floor with a good view and relatively quiet for a city. The ensuite shower room was large and clean but no complimentary toiletries except for a small bar of soap on the basin. Unfortunately the air conditioning seemed only to blow in warm air. Breakfast at 17.90 euros was good but the staff did not seem able to keep up with demand at the popular time of 9am. The reception staff were extremely helpful, polite and welcoming and spoke excellent English.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this property. The room was very small and in the loft area so the layout was odd with the wardrobe in the bathroom and not much room to walk around the bed but the décor has been recently updated and is modern and all very clean. It was quiet, the lift was efficient and the breakfast was not lavish but very comprehensive with hot and cold options. Downsides were the lack of complimentary toiletries, the terrible coffee from the Nespresso machine and the lack of o... Read more

We stayed at the Mercure, Grand Place for two nights (20/5, 21/5) and want to say thank you to the very helpful staff who made our visit so enjoyable. We were travelling with our 90-year old mothers and the staff were very attentive throughout our stay. We were impressed with the room facilities, and the hotel facilities generally. The breakfast choice was excellent and was kept well stocked. Overall, a very good value choice of hotel in our opinion.

Well located just off the main square and within easy walking distance oof the station. Rooms were clean and quiet. Breakfast expensive if not included but plenty of places nearby that offer good breakfast. Would stay here again.

The location of the hotel is perfect for a city trip. You can easily go everywhere on foot. As said in other reviews, the standard rooms are pretty small, but big enough just to sleep in. If you are tall like us, make sure you book a twin. The double beds are quite small. Unfortunately there were no twins available when we stayed in the hotel. The bathroom is too small to be in with two persons at the same time, but the shower is firm and hot. The room and the bathroom were very clean. Fort... Read more

Had a "junior suite", the equipment is OK but the room is very small and the bed is too close to the door. We had heard everyone walk in the corridor at night and in the morning, doors slaming etc, didn't feel relaxed and peaceful.

This place is perfectly located in the centre, on the Grand Place and very close to both stations Lille Flandre and Lille Europe. Even if the room was very small, everything was clean and tidy. No noise problems in the hotel but if it wasn't for business I couldn't have afford this hotel. Still expensive and breakfast as well! For my next trip in Lille, I'll just go back there again so I recommend it.

We travelled to Lille for a long weekend to experience the atmosphere of Euro 2016.The hotel has very welcoming and helpful staff with a great location in the City Centre. Continental breakfast was good and couldn't find anything to criticise really, There's a great little bar just opposite which also gives a nice welcome and very cheap compared to other bars in the area although I can't remember the name for some reason :-)

Located just a five minute walk from Lille Flanders TGV rail station. Useful to have an online check in facility. Very friendly staff in all departments. Tiny room on the 5th floor with a small shower room up a step that was a big trip hazard. The shower was terrible as the wall fixing was at waste height. Rooftop views, good sound insulation. They have an excellent dinner buffet in the Cuisine Lounge area. A warm chicken and mushroom quiche was excellent. Nice potted meats, vegetables and fish ... Read more

At first impressions, this hotel seems nice with friendly reception staff, central location and nice surroundings and to be honest, there was nothing massively wrong. As with a lot of things though, it's when the little things go wrong that they add up! Our first room bathroom door was broken which meant we had to be moved (good really as our first room was absolutely tiny and was so small it didn't even have room for bedside tables). Second room much better and good size with nicer bathroom. Th... Read more

We have just returned from Lille and a superb stay at the Mercure Grand Place where the staff and accommodation were excellent! The location is perfect - a couple of minutes walk to the opera house, Grand Place and the local cafe society and the old town a few minutes walk beyond that! Lovely hotel. Very good Staff. Really smart interior. Plush is the best way to describe it. Had a newly decorated and newly furnished room. Got lucky really. Central.Good breakfast. Couldn't fault it, apart from the price. Busiest weekend of the year in Lille. City full for Le Bradderie. Flea market... Antiques weekend. All we could find apart from out of town places. Classy but pricey.

The Mercure Lille Centre Grand is a great hotel, fab location and although central it wasn't to noisy. Our room was quite basic but clean and suited two friends (twin room). We passed on the breakfast as at 17Euro a day there are many places close by to buy a fresh pastry and Lille has some good offerings. ???

Stayed here on a tour for a couple of nights. We were warmly welcomed by the lovely reception staff and greeted each time we arrived back to the hotel. Our room was newly renovated - I guess, stylish, comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was lovely. The location in the city is excellent. A pleasant stay. Would definitely recommend a stay

Stayed here as part of a battlefield tour and for one night it was ok. Nicely situated but the room was tiny even by France standards. The furniture was very awkwardly placed and there were no toiletries provided. Breakfast was included in the tour and was not bad, usual buffet fair. If you were staying for longer you might want to investigate further afield but we were ok for one night.

I travelled with a group but the service in the hotel was individual. Excellent value and far better than other chains with whom stayed before. Great location and well appointed. A lovely grand building adapted and beautiful glass where the staircase now sits. They cannot do better with the lift which is lucky to hold three and a bag but that is the constraint of such a building. My spoken and written French is not the best but the staff coped with my adventures. This is now my first choice loca... Read more

Ten of us stayed here in July for a long weekend, check in was very smooth and the building is very grand. Our room was tiny, as were most of the others allocated to our party. The bathroom door didn't open fully but banged in to the bed, although the bathroom itself was fine. Our bed was really comfy, but the rooms were so hot, even with the air con on all night. One couple in our party had to change rooms twice, due to a broken bed and no hot water. With this in mind we felt we could only give... Read more

We stayed here as part of a Battlefields group tour. It is a lovely modernised hotel and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The lift is a bit small and holds around three people and no more than one bag but because of the age of the building it would be hard to change to something bigger I suspect. Its centrally located in the centre of the city. A big plus for tourists. Our check in was fast and efficient and our room on the third floor was compact but functional . It was tastefull... Arrived late at night, very smooth check in, complimentary drink on arrival while staff unloaded bags from tour bus. Staff very friendly, rooms are very small, but only stayed one night. Room was hot and stuffy, air conditioning was not working, if had stayed more nights would of complained. Breakfast was adequate, I a good location. Overall not bad.

Good serviceable accommodation, not roomy but perfectly adequate. The main plus is really the location, very close to the main central historic attractions, not to mention restaurants and bars. Also walkable to the train station. The lounge is pleasant, although the reception area is somewhat tight. I can't comment on the breakfast. Staff were polite and helpful.

I absolutely do not recommend this hotel. I come every week at LILLE, and stay at least 3 nights on the hotel, and I can say this is the worst hotel of group accord on this city. Rooms very small, bad room service and the worst of all is the people at the reception, very not helpful (almost incompetent). Nice hotel, centrally located - just a short walk from both of Lille's train stations. Friendly and welcoming staff on reception. My room was small but comfy, and I slept well. There was no chair in my room, which felt a little strange as the only place to sit was on the bed. The bar area was just a collection of tables and chairs - there isn't a bar as such. I had to go over to reception to order a drink, which they fetched from a back room. Recommended.

The location of the hotel is perfect right in the centre of Lille, and only a short walk to all of the main attractions, as well as lots of bars and restaurants. The check-in team were very efficient and I quickly received the key to my room. I had a room on the 4th floor, but unfortunately didn??t have a city view. The disappointment started immediately with a long wait at check in - it took far too long to process each guest and no apology for the delay. The room was small, the bed was 'springy' and uncomfortable. Breakfast was overpriced with a relatively limited selection. Fast check out process did at least help a little. And the hotel is in a great location. I've stayed in other Mercure hotels and have come to expect better service.

When I first came to work in Lille, I chose this hotel for the location. This has to be the best location ever as the town centre is on your doorstep. However the downside is the size of rooms and lack of restaurant. They do have a bizarre self service system which you get a card and mark down items you take. I personally do not like this as the food is limited and it takes away the experience. Another major downside is no car park, so its either find a space on the limited roadside or use the u... While the hotel is in an enviable location, the rooms are quite small. I had a Standard Room, 1 Single Bed, and while it was modern, the bed took up approximately 80% of the room space. Ironically, the bathroom was huge. The location is amazing, close to the main squares and train stations, as well as a nice walk to the old city. The staff was attentive and spoke English.
