Le Saint-James deserves its excellent reputation. Hotel and restaurant leave a top quality impression. All the people working here are great professionals. Food and drinks are awesome. Come to Bouliac, again and again.

We spent few days in Le Saint James between Christmas and NYE. We discovered the region and we stayed in this great design hotel. The room was big with lots of light, the service was good but not top as we expected and the highlight of the stay was Le Bistro were you can enjoy local gastronomy at a good price.

We went for our anniversary and was a great choice. Wonderful hotel overlooking Bordeaux. St James restaurant was excellent. Rooms very spacious and modern. Staff great. We arrived Friday evening (6pm-ish) and the traffic on the Motorway/Rocard was terrible, so suggest avoid arriving between say 5 and 7. Outside that would be lighter.

We were booked in for Easter weekend and had no idea what to expect from the Saint James hotel. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and Mathilde went out of her way to help us, we had not booked into the gastronomic restaurant that was now full but she quickly sorted a table for us, we were too early for our room but she showed us onto the terrace organised drinks and put a rush on the housekeeping staff so that within 20 minutes it was ready. The room itself (a classic room) was a bit differen... Read more

We booked a one night stay in combination with a dinner at the Bistro down the street (not the same kitchen as the hotel). The room was upgraded free of charge and the view is amazing, although the surrounding is perhaps not as fabulous as some pictures suggest; there are a few grapes growing in the garden but this place is not in the middle of wine fields! Also, traffic noise from the Bordeaux ring road is quite present inside the room. Service at the hotel is friendly and polite, but you may e... Read more

We arrived and parked in the car park at the bottom of the hill and walked up, where we met the Hotel Manager. We realised that you should unload baggage at the top and then the car can be taken down by the porter. We received a friendly welcome at reception and were then taken to our room with our luggage. It was very different to what we expected but very comfortable and we had a wonderful view over the hotel's vineyard, Bordeaux and the river. It was large with plenty of storage, electric bla... Our stay at the St. James exceeded all of our expectations. We loved the quiet location and the attentiveness of the entire staff, in particular the help and attention given to us by Mathilde Ferhat. She was enthusiastic about her job, the hotel and went above and beyond what we expected. She is a great asset to the hotel and deserves a giant thank you from us.

We spent three nights at Le St James and loved both the beautifully designed hotel and the quiet location above Bordeaux. We had a standard room which was large and with a very comfortable - if somehow very high - bed. Views from the room are stunning - a real shame though that all shades were controlled by one remote control only, which meant - in our corner room - that if we kept the shades up to enjoy the view over Bordeaux, the guests of the very nice Michelin restaurant tables outside woul... My husband and I booked our stay at Le Saint James using points on our credit card. After an unfortunate mix up (on the part of the credit card company) we arrived at the hotel and they had no record of our reservation. The front desk manager, Emmanuela, was incredibly kind and did everything she could for us. They allowed us to use their phone for international calls, brought us complementary drinks and snacks while we waited over 2 hours for the CC company to fix their mistake. Once it was all... + Very nice hotel location and beautiful facilities + Nice pool + Helpful staff - Very dirty room (hair everywhere, not cleaned properly in general) - Room a bit ratty in general (it lookes like no one has an eye on keeping the room in shape) - The pictures in the room description looks completely different to the room we got - this might be misleading (e. g. no fully glazed room as on the pictures) - The complementary strawberries were already almost rotten when we arrived, so we did not eat i... With two couples we visited Saint James in Bouliac for a lunch. The reservation by phone was very adequate and friendly. A good start. We asked and were seated outside in the garden in the shadows with a beautiful view over Bordeaux. Staff were very friendly though a bit reserved. We ordered the lunch suggestion of the Chef and enjoyed it very much. It comes with two glasses of wine and a bottle of water. The wines we're enjoyable and fitted very well with the food. Both the fish dishes as well ... Read more

We have opted for the convince of great parking and the tranquility of the countryside . Little village near Bordeaux where the relatively modern Relais & Chateaux can be found. Service is first class as one can expect and the rooms are spacious offering great comfort. We have missed on the restaurant as it was Sunday night - but no doubt we will give it a chance next time we are around this area. Highly recommend !

Started our experience with a cooking class! Our chef for the cooking class was well prepared, patient and explained everything very well. We enjoyed our hands on class, preparing our appetizers with figs. Enjoyed our Michelin Star experience! Food was creatively prepared, as delicious as it was presented! Staff was great. The panoramic view of Bordeaux from our dining terrace only added to a memorable experience!

We had asked for a walk in shower but got an "over bath". Manager tried to change our room but not possible. As a sweetner we got lots of goodies. For which many thanks. The meal in the restaurant was out of this world. Beautifully cooked and presented and paired with the wines. Our room was a ground floor room with a patio and outside chairs. Sleek bathroom but why no door? Toilet was separate. and our bed was low (see below) but very comfy. Think it depends on the height of the window. Can't ... Read more

We visited Le Saint James as the first stop on our honeymoon. The hotel itself has beautiful views of nearby Bordeaux and is filled with stunning art. The food is excellent at breakfast and in the fine dining restaurant. The staff could not have been more accommodative during our stay. As a tip: room 17 is somewhat secluded from the others, though the layout is a bit unusual.

An excellent Hotel with superb food, a huge choice of quality wines and very friendly and efficient staff. The setting was magnificent overlooking Bordeaux and the grounds in which it stands has a small vineyard, The site has a heated swimming pool and various areas in which to sit, relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Friendly staff, great service, beautiful grounds. We checked in on a Sunday when they had their own farm market. They host vendors where they purchase their goods. This was a treat to see and then have the food during our stay. The chef is very talented. They are the only restaurant bsides the one down the street which they own. The room was large and clean. The deck overlooking the vineyard and Bordeaux was beautiful. You can see Bordeaux lit up at night from the bed. Pretty awesome. The pri... Read more

Wonderful stay! We were surprised at check in to have been upgraded to a room with a balcony and an amazing view of downtown Bordeaux. The bar was a perfect place to grab a late night cocktail and the staff was top notch. We opted for the dinner and breakfast package. Breakfast was perfect however dinner at the bistro in town was not very good, i would recommend skipping.

Jean Nouvel made it a point to maximize enjoyment from the view from every point: the rooms, the restaurant, the lobby, etc. It is located on a hill and indeed the view over Bordeaux is beautiful. Large gardens with vineyards complete the scenery. The hotel architecture is modern but is well integrated in the nature with its rusty panels that are close in color to wood. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Of course height and location of beds are studied to optimize the view. Some points were ... Read more
