Me and my boyfriend stayed at this lovely hotel for one night during the spring bank holiday weekend. We stayed the Sunday night into the Monday. Overall, we had a really lovely and enjoyable stay. We arrived in York just after 1PM after being advised check in was 2PM but we phoned up and spoke to a very helpful man who advised a room was ready for us to check in earlier. We parked our car in the NCP Multi story which is literally a 5 minute walk from the hotel which was handy. Check-in was easy... Read more

Another perfect family stay. The usual high standards of Staff, Cleanliness, Food & Drink. Reasonable prices and a good discount for the Council Car Park a few yards away. (monitored 24 hrs a day). Within easy walking distance of everything and a quiet location. This Hotel continues to keep its standards and is still our 1st choice.

The included breakfast is self serve buffet style with an excellent selection of hot and cold options. Public parking is a short 5 minute walk from the hotel. This is a good location for visitors. It is a short walk from the train station and easy for getting around town for the sights too. The breakfast offering was very nice and the staff was great. The only downside was that the rooms are a bit small but that was not so bad. The staff sent us to really nice restaurants for dinner that were an easy walk too. If I was in town I would stay here for sure.

It's nice to know that you get same as you do at home with Hilton. While the room was small, the amenities, linen, beds, towels were first class. No skimping. We used the gym and it as great to work out with good equipment, clean area. The hotel is close to train station which means it's a bit of a walk to the sights but overall, a quiet neighborhood. The reception staff at this hotel are extremely helpful & friendly - nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are good, if rather small, and none have a bath; we wangled a disabled room which was considerably more spacious. Breakfast is generous and free. The bar food menu is tasty, if limited. Finding the hotel by car is a real challenge (we were talked down by speaking to someone on reception!)

Just stayed at the Hampton by Hilton. Excellent hotel, location, lovely breakfast & staff ! Comfy beds and spotless hotel. The only downside I would say is the very thin curtains at the window it lets all the light in so I've had next to no sleep. If it wasn't for that I would have gave it 5*

The hotel is a 5 to 8 minute walk from the train station, depending on walking speed and luggage. Our room had pretty views of York; I imagine most or all of the rooms do. Wherever one might be staying in York, I think it would be hard to NOT have pretty views. Other hotels are closer to York Minster, Museum Gardens, the Shambles, etc. But the Hampton is only a 15-minute walk--a very pretty walk--to that area, and is very quiet and comfortable. Stayed here with friends on a hen do. Three of us shared and the pull out bed from the sofa was not comfortable. Thin mattress and lacking that hotel feel I had two nights feeling like I was sleeping on a friends sofa. It also took up lots of space in the small room, which was then a tight squeeze for three of us. No proper door to the bathroom meant everyone could hear everything which is less than ideal. Adjacent to the York city wall, the rail station and not too from from the York Minster. The hotel felt like Hampton Inn at home, except the breakfast was better. At least 20 mbps wifi speed. Stayed here for one night on our Yorkshire trip. Glad we decided to book for a room here. The hotel is up to good standard chain of Hilton. Located on the quiet street. We were on the first floor but had no noise problems at all. NCP car park just two minutes away and you can get a discount for tickets at the hotel. Breakfast was great too, wide selection staff were helpful.

Overall, I liked this place. We got a room in the lowest floor. The first room we were put in smelled strongly of mold. After asking about it, we were move to another room, on the other side of the hall; this room was fine. Otherwise, the place felt very homelike. They served decently priced cocktails, and the room and linens were very clean. The maid service was good, and left the room feeling very clean each day. Only negative is the shower pressure, which is very low, apparently at any time. Everything else, room, check in (very helpful), location (excellent), discounted parking (£13.50 instead of £22.50 per day - but beware limited headroom for vans), was excellent. Breakfast buffet quite nice, certainly reasonable for the all inclusive price of £85 for a double room on a Sunday night.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, it is situated only a 5 minute walk away from the train station and a 10 minute walk into the city centre. Staff are polite and courteous and make you feel welcome from the offset. Excellent value for money!

It was a horse race weekend so the hotels were mostly full. The hotel was .3 mile from the train station making it an easy walk. This is a new building with large rooms including a desk, couch, chair, and similar to a queen size bed. The staff are helpful and the room comes with the all important face cloth for the bathroom. All sights are an easy walk with quiet nights away from the main roads and night life.

We had a voucher for a freebie so thought we might get a below par room, not at all. We had a very nice room. The hotel is within easy walking distance of all the attractions in central York. The check in staff were friendly and offered maps and help with directions. We asked for extra tea and coffee which was provided with a smile. A great experience.

Comfortable hotel and friendly staff. However extremely limited on food menu for dietary requirements. For someone with minimal time to head into town for food a more thought through menu would have taken this hotel a lot further.

We booked two rooms for one night stay. Very clean and the rooms were nice with big walk in shower. Staff on reception and housekeeping were lovely. However, the breakfast wasn't up to much, very American themed which is ok if you like your eggs scrambled. Not accommodating when we asked if we could have a fried egg which, when you consider the price of the hotel, is very poor. Hot breakfast buffet was like warm.

Apart from the miserable greeting from receptionist this is a nice modern budget hotel with all the basics included. You don't get the niceties some hotels offer (room service etc) but if you're only there 1/2 nights its perfect. Ideal location to explore York-approx 10 min walk to the Castle,15 to the Minster. We did have dirty tea/coffee cups in the room but apart from that everything else was very clean. Iron was in the room as well. Car park is an NCP 5 min walk away-hotel will validate you... Read more

Spotlessly clean, comfy rooms, near to York Centre with a top class breakfast thrown in for free. Loved it and will come back again, our rooms faced a night club and bar but there was no noise heard through the double glazing. Our trip was on the first weekend of the Christmas markets, and York town centre and pubs were bursting to the seams, so we came back to the hotel bar which had comfy seats a good atmosphere and good food and wine at prices which were comparable to pub prices, not the usua... My sister and I stayed here on 16 November. We had a really nice, twin room on the third floor. Unfortunately, as other reviewers have commented, the rooms at the front all overlook a rather noisy drinking establishment (and gentlemen's club - a misnoma, if ever I heard one) so, despite the fact that the hotel is triple glazed, we were still woken up by loud noise. However, this is not the fault of the hotel but rather the inconsiderate behaviour of silly people but it was just such a great s... Read more

Stayed for 2 nights in a comfortable modern room. The hotel is in an excellent location just 5 minutes away from the main attractions in the city centre. This modern hotel provides pleasant rooms with comfortable beds and more than adequate bathroom. The breakfast is okay but can get busy so with limited space you may experience a short wait. The bar area is not very inviting so we did not use as there are so many places in the city. Parking is just down the road and after discount is approximat... Read more

Excellent location, immaculate hotel, wonderful breakfast with waffle maker, proper mugs for tea and a relaxed, help yourself atmosphere but lots of staff on hand to help but not over attentive and annoying. Relaxed gin and tonic in the bar a the end of the evening, a really good stay d excellent staff.

Stayed with work as a stop over up north. This is perfectly located for the station so ideal for an overnight. Room was comfortable and clean. Food was pretty standard but did the job. I ended up going the long way round walking from the station but still only took 5 mins with my trolley bag on wheels. Very helpful staff. Only fly in the ointment was the fire alarm going off at 3.30am (a false alarm as stopped after about 5 seconds- but. It was it loud!!) which I then failed to really settle dow... Read more

This hotel is incredibly hard to find if you have not googled it first, or phoned reception for help which I did. After this it was a doddle, walk past The Grand Hotel turn left and there it is. I was checked in by quite a scruffy young man but this was understandable as he had just lugged four cases out of their storage for guests who were leaving. He was personable, very polite and processed my check in very quickly. I was given a room in the ground floor just passed reception which is a floo... Read more

Excessive rate , hotels getting greedy . Hotel prices dictated by computer costing, no room for front desk to negotiate, take it or leave it attitude they cant override the system . The rooms are to sleep in what you would expect. All we want was a clean room , shower and toilet and not pay the earth for . Even had to pay for my own parking another GBP 20 , they don't tell you that when you book.

We were extremely happy with our stay. The room was modern, clean and very comfortable. The staff were very happy and accommodating printing out historical information about York and getting fresh milk for me. The variety of the all you can eat breakfast, including freshly made waffles was impressive. The staff were happy for us to leave our bags to continue enjoying the town after check out. Definitely want to go back again!

My second stay here... excellent location, twin room with 3/4 beds quiet at night due to triple glazing ( our room faced the road and night club... no sound at all) staff helpful and efficient. Breakfast was good too, lots of choice of hot and cold food. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We came up to visit our son at York Uni and to go to the Christmas market. We wanted to stay near the railway station as we were coming up from London by train. It really is a most comfortable hotel. The rooms are spacious, the beds are very comfortable, there is free wifi and the staff could not be more helpful. It is thoughtfully well equipped and we were easily able to procure the toothpaste that all three of us had forgotten. We arrived and met our son at the hotel and all had a bar sn... Read more
