Awful hotel. The toilet in our room was not cleaned and was quite disgusting and unsanitary. When we complained it took forever for them to do anything and they were not very apologetic for this nor did they offer any way to make it up to us. We booked a double deluxe room for 3 people so we were expecting 2 double beds however one of the beds was a low rickety little bed. The walls are paper thin and we could hear full conversations from the rooms next door. Nowhere near the star rating it has.... Read more

Food at breakfast was good, rooms were clean and beds were comfy. The hotel had great views of the castle from the deluxe rooms and was a 5/10 minute stroll into the centre. An enjoyable weekend.

My wife and I stayed here a week while vacationing in Scotland. We found the staff to be very helpful and they gave us our good recommendations for eating and things to do. The location is okay but a bit away from the center, below the castle. Our room was a bit cramped for two people and the bathroom was truly tiny. My wife asked for a sheet rather than the duvet the bed came with. They brought the sheet but then on many days the housekeepers would take the sheet away. There were no towel... Read more

Much has been written about the friendliness and approachability of the hotel staff and, on our second visit here (shortly before the UK was about to initiate divorce proceedings from the rest of Europe) this is what struck us most. Indeed, one of them even described it as like working in a family - in spite of the fact that members came from the four corners of the globe, some with a tenuous grasp of English and for a relatively short tenure. From walking into the hotel one felt that the staf... Read more

Having paid over £200 per room for a family birthday I found this hotel to be totally overpriced for what we received. We had to request to change one of our twin rooms as the room was small with a tiny window overlooking the car park. We were told only available room was a disabled room to which we moved to. Only to be greeted by the reception staff a couple of hours later and asked to move again.

The rooms are up to date but small and so are the bathrooms. The staff was great and very helpful. We were able to store our luggage while going on a 3 day highland tour.

I stayed for 6 nights at the hotel and had a great time. The location is great - close to (walking distance) the touristy area (Edinburgh Castle), lots of restaurants and the Meadows (park). The hotel seems a bit old at first glance - but the room was clean and spacious. Good facilities - including a gym. Internet was ok too. I am happy with the food options offered at the breakfast buffet. I find the hotel staff were friendly too. Overall, I enjoyed by stay and will consider staying at the... Read more

This is in a perfect location for accessing old town and new town on foot. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. We had the end room which has a rounded bank of windows which was very nice. Even though it was on the second floor, I didn't hear outside noise. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room. The only thing I found off was the decor. It was bit too modern for my tastes considering the historic area. Breakfast was good and with plenty of selections. The bar was always bus... Read more

Have stayed in Edinburgh several times and this time gave DoubleTree by Hilton a try. The hotel is very convenient to all the main attractions. Approx a 10 minute walk to the Castle, Grassmarket area or shopping areas. The room we occupied on the 4th floor had a view of the castle with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was pleasant and we never had to wait for a table. Staff at the hotel were helpful. We would return to this hotel again.

My husband and I were at the hotel for a weekend. The policy of the Hilton is always give a cookie at the entrance. The room was very nice, large and roomy. Very nice bathroom, but they could put glass door in the bathtubs instead to fabric curtains. The morning coffee could be a little better because the juices are concentrated the instead be natural. The-cleansing service is impeccable. The hotel is well located and you do not use bus or other means of transport. It has a supermarket nearby.

Stayed here in February, hotel at first sight is nice and quality looking, bar was up marker and had a nice atmosphere. Only let down was my room, ended up getting a room which had a view onto a brick wall and was made worse with an extremely small window, meaning room was virtually dark even in daylight, not the best considering it was a valentine get away. Breakfast was also a bit of a let down, waited over 20 mins in a queue until eventually got sat down at a table.

Stayed here on Friday 18th November 2016, we arrived at 11.30am and when we got there our room was ready which was great as we got checked in, Receptionist was very warm and welcoming, loved the warm cookie on arrival it was delicious. Room 203 was very clean, bed was very comfortable. Bar was great to have drinks in, couches were very comfortable and it was a nice atmosphere where we enjoyed out cocktails. Quick efficient service from the staff. Definately would stay here again. Thanks

Perfectly located for a short walk to the castle and the Royal Mile. Typical Hilton Double Tree quality with nice comfy beds, decent water pressure in the shower and a surprisingly good breakfast. We had a great view of the castle from our room. Be warned the black out curtains as so effective you will need to set an alarm so you don't sleep through the whole morning!

Immediately being approached by a staff member at the front reception desk. Myself and partner felt relaxed by the confident and well presented staff approach. A precise and brief chat left a feeling that everything at this hotel will be efficient and well organised throughout my stay here. The bed in the King Deluxe Room gave us both a very relaxing and enjoyable sleep.

Over priced hotel with reasonable breakfast though cooked breakfast is a little poor quality. Rooms are small and a little tired. Location is relatively good depending on where you want to be. Bathroom small and a little run down

Great City Hotel, with a great Service. The Breakfast buffet can be better with a wider choice of different food. The Gym is well furnished and the equipment new. But all in all good value for your money. Around the hotel you can find nice Pub's and Restaurants.

Same standard you'd expect at a doubletree... nice welcome and decent room (after we were moved due to being in someone else's room). We were here for a gig in the castle so was nice and close. Had food in the restaurant which I'd eat in again.

Read the reviews on TripAdvisor, we liked what we saw and booked the room for our mini family break. The hotel is a bit of walk from the Waverley train station but in a good location, its just minutes away from Edinburgh Castle. Lovely room, can see the castle from our room. The staff were helpful and friendly. Had breakfast in the hotel, selection and food were alright.

We stayed here during a few days in Edinburgh for my girlfriends birthday, I choose this hotel for its location and reviews frequently mentioned the friendly, helpful staff. Both of these points are true the location is great and the staff were very friendly upon check in. However some of the negative comments regarding street sound did not prepare us for how loud it would be. Now I was prepared for street noise in a hotel in the centre and would never mark a hotel down or traffic noises etc... Read more

Myself and my parents stayed here for 2 nights. Decent hotel, clean and friendly staff. We decided to share a room between the 3 of us, slightly disappointed that they couldn't be bothered to arrange the extra bed properly sticking it by the wardrobe instead of across the other side of the room. We phoned up to see if they had a room with 2 double beds we could swap too, unfortunately they didn't so we ended up moving the furniture around ourselves! Breakfast was very nice, lots of variety from... Read more

I cannot recommend the staff more highly than the team in this hotel. They were so friendly and approachable and the hotel and its amenities were perfect. Nothing was too much and every staff member communicated in a way that left you feeling valued and listened to, they were exceptional.

Perfect place to stay in Scotland's beautiful capital. I could not have been more pleased and the staff were excellent and tended to my every need. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a stay in Edinburgh - just be aware that the hotel is a good ten to fifteen minute walk from Waverley station, so not ideal if you have lots and lots of luggage.

We spent two nights there over a weekend It was really very good . Great location and the Castle view rooms are superb. There may be a bit of noise late at night on the weekends - Edinburgh is a very social city ! I'd suggest you go high or towards the back of the hotel if its a Friday/Saturday night. Unless of course you are out partying too ! Before it was a Hilton , it was the Point Hotel , and before that a Cooperative Department store. In its day - it was where Edinburgh people went for e... Lovely hotel with lovely rooms. Great breakfast and service. We would definitely stay here again. The little one enjoyed her stay. Great location, which made it easy to just walk to the city center to go to the Christmas markets and shopping.

The location initially seems off the beaten track- but a quick left and right and your in the thick of it. Breakfast is good and easy and the room are spacious and clean by a bit dark. Staff are friendly and the warm cookie on arrival is a nice touch.

Spent 2 nights here whilst attending a conference. As you can see the view from my room was exceptional. The bartender was excellent and very knowledgeable without being overbearing. Room was pleasant and breakfast staff were also very pleasant and courteous. Great location and will definitely return in the new year.

I have stayed home in hundreds of hotels all over the world for leisure and business, this was a great holiday. By far the best buffet breakfast I've ever had! The staff were amazing, so friendly and extremely helpful. I will definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Edinburgh.

First class hotel with first class staff. Location is superb especially if you like the Old Town. Ample car parking available.Everyone to their own but we are a well travelled fit and able couple in our early 60s and we found nothing not to like about this hotel and its location. Will definately stay again.
