Firstly, there was no car waiting for me at the airport and I had to wait for more than an hour for someone to come and arrange for a shuttle to the hotel. the guest services told me that there was no room for me as I had arrived a day earlier!! Finally he did give me a room as he had been informed about my arrival. Once I checked in, he told my friends who rang up, that I had checked out of the hotel an hour back when i had not. The room was large but the bathroom fittings were garish and the ... Read more

I stayed here because my usual hotel was full. What a bad idea. The room I was given was right next to the construction site next door. When I asked for a different room because of the noise, my request was denied-but later I was moved. The new room was dusty and the shower flooded. I would only recommend staying here if you have no other alternatives.

This hotel was given by Ethiopian Airlines as a layover. I arrived at night and the check in process was smooth. I had a late dinner at the restaurant on the second floor and I enjoyed the meal. In fact I customized the pasta that I ordered and the chef came out afterwards to make sure I enjoyed the meal, I found that very thoughtful. The next morning I had a quick breakfast and there was adequate selection. Check out was smooth. Overall I enjoyed this quick layover.

Good hotel for layover on Ethiopia airways. No aircon and noisy room. Friendly service and good airport transport. Food mediocre. The night I was there wifi Internet was not working. As a layover much beter than staying at airport but would not stay there for a extended period of time

Near the airport. But the hotel needed a renovation. The funny thing are the bathroon with a very kitsch bath with music, light and water. I had fun. The reception should also be improved too slow and not professional for a hotel with many rooms. Near bars and restaurants

I spent a night here after missing my Flight back to Uganda. Hotel has airport pickups. Its in the middle of the town. The rooms were spacious and elegant. What i loved most was the bathrooms in the suites.. The breakfast was awesome too.

We stayed for 3 nights and were able to enjoy the glitter and kitschy ambiance of the hotel. Sometimes no hot water, or no water at all...sometimes a party (saturday a very loud 'event' took place on the second floor. We were on the 8th floor and still it was loud...I wonder how people survived on the third floor that night...certainly not by sleeping. The breakfast was good as well as the restaurant and the service there was OK....depending on who was serving. At the reception things don't alwa... Read more

Never use Commercial Bank ATM's. They dont work properly, they charge your account without receiving cash , and then their 24 hours customers service foolish you that will return the amount back in 5 minutes while they lie. Absolutely useless.

I stayed here because Ethiopian Airlines offered me the stay for free while laying over in Addis Ababa. The hotel is perfect. The airport transfer is seamless. Once you leave the arrivals hall, there is a Friendship Hotel booth where you can ask them for the free shuttle. You are in the hotel within 8 minutes of driving. The hotel rooms are large and have good bathrooms. I actually liked the balcony that allows you to take in Addis without having to leave your room. The hotel has English ... Read more

This hotel is a decent downtown choice. I had a good experience in April 2016 and a bad one in July 2016. Rooms are large and modern. Furnishings are new but cheap. Beds are very hard and uncomfortable. Breakfast has decent options but bad coffee. Reception is chaotic at best. Staff are easily overwhelmed and the evening front of house manager was very rude to me. Negotiate the room rate down.

I was at the Friendship last year as a layover passenger so I expected another good stay. A lot design wise has changed but the service is still good. I came late at night and quickly got some rest but the wifi and the food was good. Breakfast buffet was great and there were a lot of people also in the restaurant so it seems the hotel is doing well.

My wife booked the hotel based on a suggestion from a close friend. Thanks hotel has superb service with Profesional and friendly staff. We were very much close to the part of the city where you can find most businesses and offices with different options to spent some leisure time. What makes the location even out standing is the fact that it is only 6 min from bole international airport. As of the rooms they were tidy and spacious with full amenities. I suggest the hotel for any one who is pla... Read more

Many new hotels have come on stream in Addis Ababa in recent years, particularly in the Bole district between the city centre and airport. Friendship International is one of these - very adequate facilities, clean and friendly. Food was reasonable, not outstanding. Unfortunately none of these new hotels have any garden space around them - access straight onto the street. But perfectly adequate for a few days on business.

The hotel rooms and the main conference room were large and accommodating. However if you are going to install yellow rugs you better be prepared to clean them. I don't think that has happened for years. The hardest bed I have ever slept in. The staff are friendly and say yes to everything even when they don't understand what the question was. Be prepared to take time to ensure you are understood. Close to numerous restaurants and shopping.

Other reviewers already mentioned hard beds (most uncomfortable bed in my life) and lack of a/c in the rooms, I can only confirm that nothing has changed in that regard. I'd like to focus on some other negatives: - Wifi was non-existent in the room and only occasionally worked in the reception/lobby area but it was barely functional. - Their "guidebook" in the room says that they can sell you stamps and send your mail for you. When I tried to get this done the reception worker looked me like I a... Read more
