We are having a magical time in Egypt, and the Marriott is a wonderful jewel. First, it's cheap compared to most of the world, but has everything you need and is perfectly clean and nice. Second, the staff is massive and 100% helpful and kind. The entire town is wonderful. Don't let the naysayers and fear mongering disuade you. It is safer here than most countries and they are wonderful warm and kind. Even our taxi driver charged us $.65 for a trip that would in NY be $20. A few stand outs, w... Read more

I have been to this hotel several times and In every visit I would leave very happy but this visit was different. The hotel once a remarkable venue, today is old, outdated and neglected. Staff are not professional, quality of amenities and the level of cleanliness is below average. Everyone is pushing you to tip them, no one wants to serve, feels like you are visiting one of those touristic streets. All in all this once great palace has seen the last of its good days... Former palace of the King, I have been told. The original building has been completely build in by new hotelstructures around a park with swimming pool. You can in some parts smell the old grandeur of the palace.Different restaurants to chose from and a shopping arcade. Nice to sit outside for breakfast, lunch or dinner. rooms are spacious and good. Everything can be found at that complex and no need to go out in the horrendous Cairo traffic.Being centrally located the hotel is not cheap, be awa... Read more

I have been to this hotel several times and it is one of my favorite hotels. Period. Every room has a balcony, which is a really nice amenity in the evenings. The outdoor cafe is open from breakfast through dinner - any time during the day people are there, meeting, talking, enjoying. What's more, the service is really terrific. The staff anticipates guests' needs, and does everything they can to make one's stay a little more enjoyable. PS. It can be worth it to pay the extra fee for lo... Read more

Okay so lets begin at check in. Please bare in mind that I am a Marriott Rewards Account holder. My flight was delayed and I arrived at 3:30am, it took me a while to finally check in to the hotel. Finally got to my room and was fairly disappointed with A) The smell of the room & B) the condition & Size of the bathroom. In my opinion for the Marriott Hotel to be charging that kind of money the rooms need to be massively upgraded. Half the lights didn't work, the room smelt very funny every time I... Read more

A big hotel with many restaurants, it was very busy overall. Service generally good, however there was no service by the pool. The worst thing we faced was the check in process; it was agreed to get two neighbouring rooms on a high floor overlooking the Nile river, but none was offered, so it took us a long time until we managed to get two rooms on the same floor, barely overlooking the Nile. Other than that, the experience was good, and there are many activities for kids as well.

The restaurant I ate in was Saraya Gallery and it was terrible service. Every time I wanted something I had to walk around the restaurant to find a waiter. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant as a place to eat in Cairo as it doesn't show the true Egyptian hospitality. The food was room temperature and the staff weren't bothered.

We stayed here for 7 days while touring Cairo and couldn't be happier. A palace built for the opening of the Suez Canal and continuously improved, it's an elegant jewel set in the center of Cairo. Like other hotels during the trip the restaurants were limited because of Ramadan but there were plenty of choices. Put a grand venue over the usual Marriott classy operation and it an almost unbeatable combination.

We stayed here in July of this year and were disappointed at the overall condition of the hotel. We had heard from people years past what a beautiful hotel this was but it seems the up keep and maintenance has slipped. The immediate lobby and tea lounge was quite nice. Our check in took a very long time, nearly 20 minutes and I have no idea why. We arrived to our room and it was twin beds. Not what we had booked. Then we had to wait again to get another room. I'm coming since years when ever I'm in Cairo to the garden at the Marriott! I had a dinner with friends and the food was okay but the service was very poor. If I compare it to the years back the development of the once top service loses more and more quality, style, professional touch! In a holiday resort I wouldn't mind this kind of service but in downtown business hotel I would definitely expected more! I feel sorry to see this happen!

Highly recommended that you book this hotel. The staff are super helpful and friendly. The rooms are really well kept and large. A 'single' has the biggest double bed in the world, so if you are a couple, do not book a double room as that will give you two beds...unless he snores... Balconies all seem to have great views over different parts of the Nile. I visited rooms on both towers and I prefer the Zemalek Tower views. Garden rooms are also available.
