We thought the hotel was nice. They greeted us with a smile and were very polite. We had a room on the 3rd floor with a balcony, which I would strongly recommend.Rooms are small but very clean. The location in the Colonial Zone is one of the best.Overall a good experience.

Just one word .. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT ever think to chose this hotel just to save few pennies and then spoil your vacation, this is a horrible place to stay even for one night, Buffet breakfast is just ok and rooms are too small, noisy due to outside honking of cars, vehicle moving noises and rooms are smelly due to dampness. This is a very old property, surrounding area is also shabby due to dustbins around the streets making your room smell with filthness.

I've traveled and have stayed at so many places...I've never been treated as poorly as I was here. They have a ridiculous guest policy (guests can only stay an hour before you are charged $26, which in DR, is a lot of money); I wasn't even informed of it until they started questioning me about my friends who'd come to visit. The staff has no manners. My (female) friend was in a towel in my room, and several male employees showed up at our door and would not leave. She had to mention that she fel... Read more

We were in Santo Domingo for one night, and we stay in Antiguo Hotel Europa. We pay our room from our country at may because we look at the pictures and description from a lot of web-sites. We don`t need nothing special because we stay only one night, but we don`t expect that what we got, even for one night. In description there is all rooms with balcony. We don`t have not balcony, but WE DON`T HAVE WINDOW in the room!!! We have filing that we are prisoners. There is no air in the room. We don`t... Read more

For price, location and comfort this was one of the best hotels I have stayed in and I have travelled to over 30 countries. Miguel (manger) could not do enough for me. He went out of his way to make sure I was happy with my room and I was comfortable at all times. Miguel has an A1 hotel staff. Thomas, Miguel and Edu (front desk), Elvin, (bartender), another gentlemen who I cannot remember his name and Marisol (Cleaner) are also very good at what they do and are very personable and friendly. I... Read more

I have no words to describe this horrible experience! I visit D.R. over 15 times per year so I know what is a Good hotel And Good service! This hotel is under construction they are trying to do some fixing in the rooms, one by one!!! This is not remodeling Or refurbishing! The hammering, the electric saw machines the noise, the dirt And dust are unbearable! The tiles of the hallways (floor) are loose so when you walk you can feel them and sometimes you just trip over them ! The tiles on the bat... Read more

The hotel was centrally located as listed on their website. Check-in was no hassle at all and, for the most part, we were the only ones in the hotel. The surrounding area is a mixed-use area. There were apartments in the area as well as stores and street vendors. We were also close to a number of main streets. Calle Conde and the overall major marketplace attractions are close by. The room was small, but also to be expected. It is an historic hotel full of old world charm and modern day inconven... Read more

We stayed one night in this hotel. The rooms we're very basic but clean, same goes for the bathroom. The rooftop area with a bar and view over the historic centre is a plus and made up for having a room without a window.

This is a hotel where location, location and location fits the bill. Make sure to ask for a room with a window/balcony...all staff members are very helpful. We were down the block from historical Santo Domingo (we did a walking tour for a hour and only $20), the Reserve Bank was a few blocks away and we exchanged currency there, they had a nice continental breakfast on roof top, secured hotel, walking distance from everything and Uber accessible. We were able to take advantage of the capital an... Read more

Where do I start? First off, be aware that many of the rooms in this old building have no windows, and that the hotel has done nothing to offset this with lighting or decorations. You will get a dark and depressing room unless you have a window. When I first checked in, they put me in just such a room on the first floor which was also sandwhiched between two work rooms and the AC didn't work. I don't normally make a fuss but I refused to stay there. Honestly, I don't think that they should ever ... Read more
