"My wife two children and I stayed a week at this resort in May 2012. Remember the cheaper the resorts fees the lower your expectations should be. The food was adequate at best. Two of the specialty restaurants were closed the entire time we were there. On weekends they allow bus loads of locals into the resort inundating the pools and few open restaurants. The resort went from quiet and paecefull on Thursday to over-run, loud and packed on Friday. The beach is nice but once you get into the ocean make sure you have shoes on because it is quite rocky. Speaking of the beach. The local 'vultures' Pan handling and pawning their over priced souvenirs is quite annoying. You tell them no and they keep coming back. And god forbid you actually look at something then you have 50 more of them running up to you. They are rude and abrasive. They kept trying to sell my teenage son things and I told them repeatedly not to but they still kept on until I was forced to physically pull my family away from them. The resort 'security' just sits there and watches it all happen not saying a word to them. There is a small restaurant on the beach and they even try to sell their stuff while you are sitting down trying to eat. do yourself a favor and don't stay here. Pay the little bit extra and go to Punta Cana and stay at one of the many Bavaro beach resorts."

"The resort was beautiful. The grounds were very tranquil and relaxing. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food at the buffet was great. One thing is for the kind of resort it was you need to change the bedding, the color and style."

"I went too this hotel and I think it was great. At first you would think 'Where am I going to? Did I pick the right place?' but then when you get to the hotel, it was clean and nice. There are also a lot of activities to do like plat pool, volleyball, mini golf, and fitness. There was also really nice food an I liked it because you can eat how much you want and whenever you want. The bar was always open and you could get a drink. There were shows every night. I am not gonna lie, but sometimes they weren't that entertaining but most of the time they were. I was also surpised of the staff's attitude because they were really nice and smiling all the time and asking if you need something. Overall I think that the hotel was nice but I didnt like because they didn't clean the rooms that much."

"Overall it was a great experience! The staff was friendly though some could use some help with learning a little english. Others knew it well. The pools and area was clean except for the tennis courts and volleyball courts that weren't on the beach. The tennis court was all sand could barely see the lines and the mini golf was dark and not inviting. The nightly events were fun and the club was pretty good too. The vendors are on the beach but they are limited to how far they go into hotel grounds and if you say 'no gracias' they walk away.

My girlfriend and I did an excursion (4-wheel, dunbuggie, zipline, and horse back riding) It was extremely worth the money. From 8am-5pm, an all day event with food included.

Lastly, I would recommend this hotel for families with younger children and adults. The atmosphere is more relaxed than anything. We tried to play volleyball and soccer with some people but there wasn't enough teens and young adults present when we went."

"Reservations were not found, had to pay for a night all over again until hotel called BookIt to confirm my reservation although a rep was on the phone with front desk. Since it was past biz hours 9-5, the reps word meant nothing. We paid 1600 for one night as a guarantee, it was refunded next day since reservations were confirmed. We were in an ugly, moldy, bug filled, dark room...in the 2000 building. Housekeeping was really nice, day time staff was nice... night shift was rude and unhelpful!!! Besides swimming in rocky beach there's nothing to do unless aside frm the disco. There is one broken down pool table for entire resort, one buffet that's closed more often than open. The pools are small, more staff is definitely required.

You should all go to barcelo punta cana!!!!! Amazing!!"

"Let's see where do i start.....my room smelled like mold. We had extra guests (the roaches) rooms were VERY dirty!! and the whole thing with the towels was a joke...they would ' clean ' your room but always forget your towels....and they never had towels for you at the beach......and get this my phone didn't work so i had to walk all the way to the front desk everytime no one ever can to fix my phone, i complained but nothing was done they just said sorry. No one ever understood what you said. And they wanted a tip! well here is a tip for all, DON'T EVER STAY HERE. unless you like the smell of mold in the morning and roaches as your guest! DON'T STAY HERE!!!!!"

"My husband and I spent 4 nights and 5 days in October at the Barcelo Capella all inclusive resort in Juan Dolio, DR. Everything was wonderful. Grounds were lovely, beach was spectacular, hotel rooms were clean, food was delicious. We had no problems at all and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Staff was competent, helpful, and friendly. The nightly entertainment was enjoyable. They do a good job and work very hard at putting on a good show for everyone and getting folks involved. Lots of couples of all ages as well as families with young children and grandparents. It did not seem the kind of place where many singles went with the intention of finding people to hook-up' with.



We loved the buffet so much we didn't even bother with the other restaurants that were available. We ate all our meals in the buffet and we thought the food was delicious. There was something to suit everyone's tastes and diet. Drinks were good too and the bartenders very knowledgeable. Rooms were nice, but basic. Clean, air conditioned with plenty of hot water. I had read previous reviews and recommendations to stay in the 4000 building which I requested. We were given a room in the 4000 building and we had no problems. The only downside is the vendors on the beach. They are not pushy or rude or aggressive, but they are a constant presence there selling jewelry, carvings, etc. When you say no thank you, they move along, but there is always another one to come along. You will be saying no thanks all day long, so be prepared. It didn't bother us that much but I can see where it could be bothersome to some. All in all it was a wonderful vacation, restful and relaxing, and we plan to return next year with our family."
