We had a winter holiday in the Dom republic and was not disappointed with the Bahia Principle in Samana. The hotel rooms were roomy, large bathrooms. The beds were large and comfortable. We had an excellent view over the bay. Breakfast was excellent (although I usually have porridge - YES they have a kettle on the go). Waiter staff very attentive. Choices of restaurants on an evening, our favorite was the surf and turf offering, simply gorgeous, Plenty of pools, one at the main concourse, others ... Read more

My daughter and I spent 7 days at the resort from May 9-16. AC flights were on time, check in at hotel was fast, drive to the hotel was short and the Air Canada representative was amazing. The hotel was stunning and the view from our "standard" room was beautiful. The fridge in our room was filled every day with beer, pop and water...which was included. While it was the start of rainy season and the weather reports every day said rain, if it did rain it was only for a few minutes and usually... Read more

We stayed in the Luxuary Bahia Principe Cayo Leventado last year so knew this being a Grand Bahia wouldn't be the same standard. But we were very happy with our choice. We decided to book a taxi from the airports this time as the transfer is just so long and we are so glad we did. It only took 3 hours and was far more comfortable. We had a lovely room in the main part of the hotel overlooking the pool and sea. Be warned there are a lot of steps but there is the shuttle bus or lifts in the m... Read more

I really liked the hotel, spacious and clean. Beautiful surroundings. All the staff were very friendly. Food was great. Spent most of the time round the jacuzzi pool. Went to the beach several times. We stayed in one of the bigger rooms outside of the hotel. There was always a shuttle bus at hand when you needed picking up & taken to the main building. Late afternoon we would go & have a tasty cappuccino outside the spacious bar area where we sat under a large white canopy with tables & wh... Read more

This review is based off our Privilege Club expereince for Grand Bahia- Cayacoa: Our recent visit to Grand Bahia Principe- Cayacoa was overall disappointing as far as privilege club service we received. We been to almost all the Bahias in the Caribbean over the past few years and this was by far worst experience with service and amenities we have received in the club. We traveled with six adults and one baby April 10-17. We arrived on April 10 after a very long day of travel and Miguel intr... Read more

The Samana resort is really good, less of a party scene and more of a nature and Dominican culture scene. Food at the buffet was fantastic, lots of variation and cooked really well. The staff is really cool and fun, they give a vibe of genuine kindness. The only Con was there's only 1 hour of internet a day in the lobby however, this could be viewed as a pro since your not there to be in front of a screen 24/7.

Absolutely gorgeous impeccably clean hotel with a staff as awesome as the magnificent views. The hotel suite was amazingly beautiful and spacious. The full private balcony we had faced the water and was magnificent. Sights and sounds of nature was amazing. Took so many photos. So much to do. Loved that we could swim in any of the pools, use kayaks and stand up paddle boards right on the beach and walk to the beautiful public beach which was quiet too. The drinks were delicious too. Superior maintenance of the entire property and high marks for customer service through out the resort. Very pleased. We stayed at the Bahia Principe Cayacoa June 11-18. We usually go to bigger resorts, But were pleasantly surprised as we were not constantly getting lost. The hotel is very clean and beautiful on top of a hill, which at night with the lights all lit in the village reminds me of New York city. Beautiful site while you sit outside on the terrace and enjoy the music and cocktails. The animators keep everybody happy by getting everybody up to dance. Wonderful people. The service was great. The beach water is not as great and clean as in the pictures and there are TONS of locals that go there and beg guests to get them food and drinks or give them money or even their resort bracelets and it sadly got annoying a lot of times, not too sure if this is something the resort can do anything about but we didn't feel too safe.. A lovely hotel, very well kept and with incredibly friendly staff. A choice of three à la carte restaurants in addition to the main buffet restaurant. Food in the main buffet did get a bit repetitive, so I would definitely recommend using all of the included visits to the à la carte restaurants. Every room has some form of sea view - the hotel is in a stunning location. A very relaxing week.
