We had a winter holiday in the Dom republic and was not disappointed with the Bahia Principle in Samana. The hotel rooms were roomy, large bathrooms. The beds were large and comfortable. We had an excellent view over the bay. Breakfast was excellent (although I usually have porridge - YES they have a kettle on the go). Waiter staff very attentive. Choices of restaurants on an evening, our favorite was the surf and turf offering, simply gorgeous, Plenty of pools, one at the main concourse, others ... Read more

My daughter and I spent 7 days at the resort from May 9-16. AC flights were on time, check in at hotel was fast, drive to the hotel was short and the Air Canada representative was amazing. The hotel was stunning and the view from our "standard" room was beautiful. The fridge in our room was filled every day with beer, pop and water...which was included. While it was the start of rainy season and the weather reports every day said rain, if it did rain it was only for a few minutes and usually... Read more

We stayed in the Luxuary Bahia Principe Cayo Leventado last year so knew this being a Grand Bahia wouldn't be the same standard. But we were very happy with our choice. We decided to book a taxi from the airports this time as the transfer is just so long and we are so glad we did. It only took 3 hours and was far more comfortable. We had a lovely room in the main part of the hotel overlooking the pool and sea. Be warned there are a lot of steps but there is the shuttle bus or lifts in the m... Read more

This review is based off our Privilege Club expereince for Grand Bahia- Cayacoa: Our recent visit to Grand Bahia Principe- Cayacoa was overall disappointing as far as privilege club service we received. The Samana resort is really good, less of a party scene and more of a nature and Dominican culture scene. Food at the buffet was fantastic, lots of variation and cooked really well. The staff is really cool and fun, they give a vibe of genuine kindness. The only Con was there's only 1 hour of internet a day in the lobby however, this could be viewed as a pro since your not there to be in front of a screen 24/7.

A lovely hotel, very well kept and with incredibly friendly staff. A choice of three à la carte restaurants in addition to the main buffet restaurant. Food in the main buffet did get a bit repetitive, so I would definitely recommend using all of the included visits to the à la carte restaurants. Just landed back in England today after the best two weeks holiday at this hotel! On arrival we were upgraded to the golden club villas which were stunning! Location, food and staff were all excellent. The animation team were all enthusiastic, friendly and above all actually liked their job. A massive shout out to Alex, miguel, Katherine and Lewis who kept us entertained throughout. Cannot understand the negative reviews as I for one will definitely return and have no bad words to say. Pardon my "English" lol I'm French Canadian. I've been in many vacations in the Carribean. Honestly it's one of the best hotel I did stay. The staff are amazing and friendly. The activities every day by the staff is really nice. Drinks, food, room and location are A1. The only downside is for younger people who want to go in town and party later in town is kind of boring at night. But in some way we came back after our vacation not too tires of over partying. The food is really good. The pool a... Read more

We have just returned from a wonderful two week stay at this great hotel. We travelled as an extended family with two teenage children and had standard rooms on the 4th and 5th floor of the main hotel block. Firstly , the hotel is spotless from top to bottom. Housekeeping and maintenance are working tirelessly everyday and the use of alcohol gel upon entry into the restaurants ensures bugs are kept at bay ( important for a nurse!) The animation team and main pool staff were all fabulous especia... Read more

Beautiful location with spectacular views. Quite a few steps but manageable unless you have mobility/breathing issues. Small local town, very Dominican. Hotel is the cleanest I've stayed in. Staff are very friendly. Entertainment as expected but the team are enthusiastic, energetic, engaging and friendly. Buffet restaurant has a very wide choice which can appear 'samey' but they provide so much every day it would be hard to be different all the time. Three excellent a la carte restaurants which ... I booked a trip to the Cayacoa as a last minute deal with my teenage daughter and son. Having stayed at the Cayacoa I now realize how good of a price I truly had gotten. We stayed for 7 days. The hotel is beautiful and probably the cleanest of any all-inclusive resort I have stayed including Sandals resorts. All the staff work so hard to make your stay relaxing and fun. From the entertainment staff to the housekeeping staff and front desk. We had multiple questions throughout the week and ... Read more

After spending 2 weeks at this great hotel I can highly recommend it. The journey from the airport to the hotel is very long, over 3 hours with a break after 2 hours. The coach on the return trip was a very nice one with great air con and very comfortable but the one from the airport to the hotel was a bit basic but did the job ok. First impressions of the hotel were great, spotlessly clean and stunning views. Jessica, the tui rep, was very friendly and approachable and the welcome meeting is we... Read more

This hotel was full of surprises. Quite small compared to others I've been too. First the down side,on arrival reception staff not great. It was like he could not be bothered, we had had a long journey could have done with a cold drink. Just got a go away fill in this form! Dodgy plug in bath and temprementle coffee machine in room. Room was great, huge comfy bed. The tiniest bath I've ever seen, about a meter long. So bath plug not as much of an issue. Great view of the sea from room 415. Foo... Read more

We booked through Thomson and had a free upgrade to a Junior Golden Suite. On arrival at the hotel, we were taken to a separate lounge area to check in, with a nice cold "cocktail". Check in was fairly quick and easy and we then used the transport to go to our block, which is away from the main building. Some people called these buses, some called them "tut-tuts" and others called them golf buggies :-) The concierge carried our luggage to our room, which was 3136, and on the 2nd floor (no l... Just coming back from a 7-day stay. The hotel is beautiful with amazing views from any point. It is set on a cliff and surrounded by mountains. Very clean resort. Rooms are spacious and very clean. Food is very good for buffet style in the main dining room. We went to the specialty restaurant once and the experience wad good. Staff is courteous. Beach is small but beautiful. BIG KUDOS to the entertainment team; Miguel and Alex especially. We had a great time!

The hotel has a prime location in Samana and lovely views from all areas. The rooms are clean and spacious and the grounds immaculate. The food in the buffet restaurant was beautifully presented, varied and of great quality with the themed evenings even better. The staff in the buffet were attentive and friendly but often appeared overworked and tired but never without a smile. The shuttle carts are a great way of getting around and fun too and the lift to the beach is perfect. The gourmet rest... Read more

We stayed from Aug 7-14, 2016. The hotel was nice. The staff was friendly. Some issues we encountered: 1. Room was dated. 2. Bath tub had stains. 3. Ran out of water while in the middle of a shower. 4. Cockroach in the room. We've told the front desk about these and was advised they will have someone look at it. They cleaned our room and left 2 shirts and a small bottle of liquor in the room, I guess to appease us. Food and drinks are good. There are times when some are too salty. We've had ... Read more

Arrived at the airport paid $10 to get in, volunteers immediately took my suitcases and took them to the coach, they then expect a tip. Was removed off the big coach and taken to a small shabby minibus for 3 hours, drove through the small towns, so you do get to see how real Dominicans live. I returned home from my stay at the Grand Bahia Principe Cayacoa in the wee hours of Sunday morning and have since then been struggling to write a review on the time that I spent there. Why you ask? As someone who only has the behemoth that is the Atlantis resort (Paradise Island, Nassau) to compare Cayacoa to, it's difficult, as rating the latter against the former is impossible; it would be like comparing night to day.
