We were fortunate to find this great value through Apple Vacations. We stayed May 8 - 15th. Direct flight, transfers & all inclusive, very affordable. Check in was a little weird...we asked about an upgrade which is normally $14. per day & were told by Earnesto that if we tipped him he would upgrade us for no extra cost?? Our room wasn't yet ready, so he told us to come back in about an hour. We got our armbands, our information packet was labeled Room 4230., gave him $20. tip. Went back in hou... Read more

Overall had a good time, but could have ben better. Had problems at the hotel which took too much time to get fixed. People at the front desk seemed unsympathetic to our problems. If they spoke better English, maybe things could have been better. Hotel grounds were great and beach was really nice with plenty of lounges and covering to get out of the sun. Buffet food was good and sit down restaurants were very nice. Mexican one was just OK though. The worst part of the whole vacation was all the ... Read more

OK, so I'll list the pros & cons: Pros: big beach, large pool, excellent buffet, great nightly entertainment, balconies are large enough to relax with great views if you stay in building 4. Room shower was huge! Cons: solicitors everywhere on the resort, we got tired of constantly saying no. Gym was horrible, hardly any equipment worked. Wifi was impossible to use. Snack bar closes very early. Pool closes at 7pm. Garbage on the beach was an eyesore, cigarette butts everywhere. Staff was slow i... Read more

On the resort we were constantly approached to buy art alcohol excursion and buy timeshare and take pictures, that u can buy. But but but it was with it.

Our trip was more than we expected. We got a great price and stayed for a week with another couple. They have free kayaking and snorkeling as well as all inclusive drinks and food. The restaurant food at night is delicious and their free entertainment shows at night are great as well! We asked for doubles because we thought our drinks could be a little stronger and the bartenders had no problem accommodating. Like many others, I am a repeat visitor to the VIK. This was my 6th time. I like it because it is smaller than many of the Punta Cana resorts. Some people may prefer the larger resorts. But all I want is to be on a beautiful beach with food and drink easy to come by. The beach is close to the rooms. Food is easily available all day, and the bars are easy to get to from the beach. The food choices are varied and plenty. The three a la carte restaurants do not require reservations, which i... Read more

It was a pleasure to return to this beautiful resort, May 2016. I especially appreciate that there are many palapas (for shade) on the beach and around the pool. The beach is beautiful, great for swimming and activities. I was in bldg 5 with view of ocean and sunrise. These rooms are not completely renovated as in bldg 4 where I stayed previously. But bldg 5 received flat screen TVs while I was there. I met a pair of delightful young women, recent college graduates, from USA. They had an un... Read more

The chicken Fajitas are excellent at the Buccaneer restaurant. We did the pool aerobics during the day.. took rafts into the pool and ocean all day. Signed up for a couple of excursions. The Vik was a pleasant stay over all. However, upon arriving we were told our room would be ready by 3:15 (check in is at 3) which was fine because the maids only have 3 hours from check out to check in to get the rooms ready. But when we went to the front desk at 3:30 to check in they said it would be another 20 minutes. They were not very apologetic about the delay. But 20 minutes later we did make it into our room. The VIK is a nice hotel on the beach. I was pleasantly surprised especially after reading some reviews. It is not a 5 star resort but you are not paying 5 star money. It has 5 buildings on its property with #5 being beachfront. My friend and I stayed in #5 on the ground level. We asked for and received 2 beds. First off when you get to the Dominican Republic be aware there is a $10 US entry fee everyone even children are required to pay. Apparently this tourist card can be purchased online, but either way the line moves pretty fast. After that line you go into the immigration line. * It's a small airport so the lines do move pretty fast. * As you travel to the resort you will pass thru some run down security stations. I read posts from a while back on many said the same thing. I asked about it at the front desk and they said they were working on it. I don't believe that. This place is great. I've been vacationing in the DR and throughout the Caribbean for over 20 years and while the VIK is not Opulent by today's standards, it is a Wonderful little resort. It's safe, clean, up to date and contains everything anyone (who doesn't believe that the world revolves around them) could need to enjoy a carefree week of vacation. This resort is a nice resort, the grounds were beautiful and the size of the resort manageable. The rooms were basic but what do you really need when you're going for the beach? The AC is cold in the rooms. If you're a high end alcohol drinker this is not the place for you, but if not, it was acceptable. This is a budget resort, the food options good, drinks good, rooms good, service good, the beach? Worth a million dollars.

Requested ground floor due to husband's plantar faschitis (sp?) and trouble walking/stairs. Received third floor. Requested pool view. Received garden view with balcony overlooking trash pile (garbage bags, tree limbs, etc.). Did receive two beds which requested. Will have to say beds were very comfortable. Finally the time came for our long awaited vacation, we were coming here to celebrate my birthday, originally I had made reservations to stay at the Bahia Princess, however, after carefully reading all the of the reviews and the notes from the VIK Arenas Blancas and reading about the sea food BBQ that takes place every Friday, I decided to change hotels, BIG MISTAKE!!! We recently returned from our vacation wishing we were still there! Very beautiful and enjoyable. The ONLY complaint we had was the room. Several cosmetic issues need to be fixed as well as the A/C. It seems to have a clogged drain line causing the room to not cool as well as it should have and the ceiling to leak with backed up water. Not severe enough for us to request another room. Be sure to go to the beach early in the morning. The best spots go quick. Go pick up your towels and lay them on... Read more

Nothing fancy which was fine for us. If you aren't traveling with children this place is probably not for you. There are no clubs (for night life) on property, the do have some shows but you have to endure the children's show first which is basically repeated every night. There is no curfew for children which means they are running around all night long. Food was average at best, must bring long pants to eat in Italian restaurant.

This resort has a beautiful beach and the pool is great as well. However, these are the only good things I can say about this resort. I understand that you get what you pay for, but the standard of this resort is VERY low. Food in the buffet wasn't great, and there was no good options. Buffet is not maintained well, food looks kind of messy, and not delicious. The 3 restaurants that are there have very short menus and the food there was also VERY VERY average. Most of the staff was ok, but the b... Read more

I have stayed at many resorts and always try to find the good points and make the best of the trip. I will start off with the good points. The beach and pool area are great. The resort could be a great place with a few changes. The food was bland and a lot of times over cooked. The beef kabobs where so tough you could not chew them and saw many people leave them on their plate. There are no ice machines on the floor you have to wait on a bar to open to get ice. The beer was flat and drinks made ... Read more

We really enjoyed our two week vacation at the VIK. The resort is right on the beach, this allows easy access to walk the beach for miles, take in the views and visit little markets along the way. We had no problem getting a chair on the beach at any time of the day, the pool was often busy and we found it a bit more difficult to find a chair around the pool. The rooms were not fancy but were very comfortable and the A/C worked well. The housekeeping staff were so kind, friendly and did an ama... Read more

Hi. Am presently at the Vick arena Blanca Punta Cana. A couple of thoughts for those planning on coming here for a vacation: FIRSTLY. Bring your paperwork. On checkin it seems to be vital that you have it. STAY AWAY FROM THE GAL BEHIND THE COUNTER WITH GLASSES. Her name is Naomi and she made our friends checkin miserable. SECONDLY: do not judge this resort with the attitude you get from the front desk. They certainly need help with speaking to clients. They were inattentive. Talked on cell ph... Read more

Where to start. Lets start from positives: the beach is great. location is prime for 4 apples resort (I guess it should be 3 apples but it is just me - we used apple vacation's rating). The negatives: well I really think it is just one (main one) which leads to all other - top management is detached from reality. They really don't know if there are any complaints, if everything works OK if guests are satisfied with services etc and they should know because they are making decisions that could c... Read more

We've visited many all-inclusive hotels in the Dominican Republic and Mexico, but this was probably our least favorite. If you like lots of personal service, don't visit here. Many places are self-serve. Good: - Amazing wide beach with plenty of palapas and chairs (if you have your heart set on a particular chair/location, you'll need to reserve it by 8 am) - Swimmable and walkable sandy beach - Delicious fresh tropical fruit at every meal - For the most part, very attentive, friendly staff A... Ok so first off I attended this resort from September 1st - September 8th 2016 with a couple of friends. I would classify the resort overall as 4 star. I chose this resort for the price, the fact that it was smaller, right on the beach, and not like one of those 5-in-1 resort designs you see so prominently in the DR. This was my first trip to the DR but I have been to 3 other Cuba based resorts (2 in Varadero and 1 in Cayo Coco). I never go to a resort rated less than 4. * Food - Great a... Read more

The important thing for travelers to know is that this is a SELF-SERVE resort. That's why there are so many bad reviews about service.
