We were fortunate to find this great value through Apple Vacations. We stayed May 8 - 15th. Direct flight, transfers & all inclusive, very affordable. Check in was a little weird...we asked about an upgrade which is normally $14. per day & were told by Earnesto that if we tipped him he would upgrade us for no extra cost?? Our room wasn't yet ready, so he told us to come back in about an hour. We got our armbands, our information packet was labeled Room 4230., gave him $20. tip. Went back in hou... Read more

Overall had a good time, but could have ben better. Had problems at the hotel which took too much time to get fixed. People at the front desk seemed unsympathetic to our problems. If they spoke better English, maybe things could have been better. Hotel grounds were great and beach was really nice with plenty of lounges and covering to get out of the sun. Buffet food was good and sit down restaurants were very nice. Mexican one was just OK though. The worst part of the whole vacation was all the ... Read more

OK, so I'll list the pros & cons: Pros: big beach, large pool, excellent buffet, great nightly entertainment, balconies are large enough to relax with great views if you stay in building 4. Room shower was huge! Cons: solicitors everywhere on the resort, we got tired of constantly saying no. Gym was horrible, hardly any equipment worked. Wifi was impossible to use. Snack bar closes very early. Pool closes at 7pm. Garbage on the beach was an eyesore, cigarette butts everywhere. Staff was slow i... Read more

The result was great! We were in block 4 room 4118, view on beach and pool! Very quiet, but no WiFi even in lobby it was a challenge to connect. Food was good always fresh but the spam. On the resort we were constantly approached to buy art alcohol excursion and buy timeshare and take pictures, that u can buy. But but but it was with it.

Our trip was more than we expected. We got a great price and stayed for a week with another couple. They have free kayaking and snorkeling as well as all inclusive drinks and food. The restaurant food at night is delicious and their free entertainment shows at night are great as well! We asked for doubles because we thought our drinks could be a little stronger and the bartenders had no problem accommodating. We stayed in building two which was nicely updated, great air conditioning as well. th... Read more

Like many others, I am a repeat visitor to the VIK. This was my 6th time. I like it because it is smaller than many of the Punta Cana resorts. Some people may prefer the larger resorts. But all I want is to be on a beautiful beach with food and drink easy to come by. The beach is close to the rooms. Food is easily available all day, and the bars are easy to get to from the beach. The food choices are varied and plenty. The three a la carte restaurants do not require reservations, which i... Read more

It was a pleasure to return to this beautiful resort, May 2016. I especially appreciate that there are many palapas (for shade) on the beach and around the pool. The beach is beautiful, great for swimming and activities. I was in bldg 5 with view of ocean and sunrise. These rooms are not completely renovated as in bldg 4 where I stayed previously. But bldg 5 received flat screen TVs while I was there. I met a pair of delightful young women, recent college graduates, from USA. They had an un... Read more

For Vik Hotel Please bring your own WASH CLOTH. AIR conditioner SYSYEM POOR. Room lining out dated Food, not worth it, not good. No elevators. We were on the third floor. Native do speak English. Since tourism is their main source, they need to make more of an efforts to learn English. Workers are not helpful. CB DUTY FREE employees followed around like we were trying to steal something. The place isn't spectacular.. you get what you pay for... but we had a LOT of fun here. We were lucky to get building 4 which is close to the pool and ocean. The meals are okay. The chicken Fajitas are excellent at the Buccaneer restaurant. We did the pool aerobics during the day.. took rafts into the pool and ocean all day. Signed up for a couple of excursions. You have a lot of vendors trying to sell you stuff but you just say No Gracious.. and they leave you alone. The beach has a lot of sea... Read more

The Vik was a pleasant stay over all. However, upon arriving we were told our room would be ready by 3:15 (check in is at 3) which was fine because the maids only have 3 hours from check out to check in to get the rooms ready. But when we went to the front desk at 3:30 to check in they said it would be another 20 minutes. They were not very apologetic about the delay. But 20 minutes later we did make it into our room. The room we stayed in (building 2) was clean and updated. The AC worked perfec... Read more

The VIK is a nice hotel on the beach. I was pleasantly surprised especially after reading some reviews. It is not a 5 star resort but you are not paying 5 star money. It has 5 buildings on its property with #5 being beachfront. My friend and I stayed in #5 on the ground level. We asked for and received 2 beds. In the Expedia listing, it said 2 twin beds but it was actually 2 full beds which was a nice surprise. It also had a lower seating area with a pullout sofa and a desk with a chair. The... Read more

First off when you get to the Dominican Republic be aware there is a $10 US entry fee everyone even children are required to pay. Apparently this tourist card can be purchased online, but either way the line moves pretty fast. After that line you go into the immigration line. * It's a small airport so the lines do move pretty fast. * As you travel to the resort you will pass thru some run down security stations. (If you have been to the Riviera Maya I'm taking about the resort guard stations ... Read more

Most of the staff was very nice. My biggest complaint was the internet. If I was going to do this again, I would pay for international data on my phone because you are literally NOCOM. I read posts from a while back on many said the same thing. I asked about it at the front desk and they said they were working on it. I don't believe that. Anyway, just be ready for that if you are trying to keep in touch with loved ones or finishing up some daily tasks, it isn't going to happen. Also, the ... Read more

Visited Punta Cana for the first time in late May. Got a great deal out of Chicago direct to PC. It was everything I hoped it would be for the price -- it even exceeded my expectation. Buffet, Italian and Mexican restaurants were good. Loved the bar on the beach. Spent most of the day on the beach. Loved the view and walks on the beach. Room was nice (Bldg 2). Shows were fun to go to at night. Found all the souvenirs I wanted in the beach shops to left of the resort. Low key week with plenty of ... Read more

This place is great. I've been vacationing in the DR and throughout the Caribbean for over 20 years and while the VIK is not Opulent by today's standards, it is a Wonderful little resort. It's safe, clean, up to date and contains everything anyone (who doesn't believe that the world revolves around them) could need to enjoy a carefree week of vacation. There are obviously bigger and better resorts available, but if you see a nice price/deal for the VIK and you are not a fussbudget, hop on! You ... Read more

Beach was beautiful, pools were nice. Plenty of food, but get there on time. Rooms were okay. They had an old fashion television set. The walk up the stairs was tiresome, especially when my key card kept deactivating. Dont arrive early. No early check in. Arrive at 3:00 PM or sit in the hot lobby until then. Bring your own wash cloths. It took speaking to the maid, front desk and 2 phone calls to guess services before I was told that face cloths are not standard. Front Desk check-in per... Read more

We spent 2 weeks at this resort in June 2016. There were 8 of us, including 2 kids 10 and 11 years of age. We had a great time. The beach was clean, the staff was very friendly and pleasant, food was excellent, great entertainment, beautiful gardens and spacious territory. We went snorkeling and kayaking and had rides on banana. The only thing I did not like is that they have no pedalos - it would be great if they had them there for free, and they would also require passports to rent a kayak for... Read more

This resort is a nice resort, the grounds were beautiful and the size of the resort manageable. The rooms were basic but what do you really need when you're going for the beach? The AC is cold in the rooms. If you're a high end alcohol drinker this is not the place for you, but if not, it was acceptable. This is a budget resort, the food options good, drinks good, rooms good, service good, the beach? Worth a million dollars.

I was here in March 2016 for one week and wished it was longer. The hotel was spotless - the staff very friendly. When we made our reservations there were no ocean front accommodations available but when we checked in, I inquired and for a very reasonable sum they put us in a beautiful ocean front suite. The ocean was so close! The beach was clean - soft white sand. The pools(two) were crystal clean and not overly crowded. The food was great and plentiful. If a person could not find somethin... The rooms were clean and the resort was immaculate and beautiful. I did not like that they let sales people into the resort so sometimes when going to eat you would have to get past them and they could get a bit pushy... also we found that their prices we pretty high. There is a small shopping "village" just outside of the hotel, the sales people there are even pushier, but the prices are better. I booked a trip for my daughter and myself and stayed there from July 7-11, 2016. When we arrived, after 3 pm, our room was not ready, as advertised. We waited in the hot hotel lobby for over 30 minutes , with several other guests. Service was very slow and no one really seemed to be in a hurry or very service oriented . I have been to many 5 star resorts, so was a bit nervous/wary about this resort. Here are some of the differences and what you can expect. Arrival - Do not expect cold drinks and cold towels.
