"this is one of the most beautiful places on earth. We loved it. We were at the resort from April 13th to the 20th and enjoyed every minute of it. The resort was breath taking, the food was amazing and there is something for everyone. We had a ocean front room with jacuzzi - Royal Service and it was worth every penny and was nicely decorated and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We plan to return."

"First off I want to say that i read review after review before leaving for my vacation at the Paradisius and i have to say i was a little nervous, but from arrival to check out the whole time i kept thinking to myself those people who wrote bad reviews must be either A-out of their mind and some people just find it in their nature to complain about any little thing or B-competitors in the area trying to make Paradisius look bad.
I was there from 3/7-3/14 and you couldn't wipe a smile off my face if you tried. Even the service in the airport was great, we took a cab to hotel cause we wanted to get directly there and it cost $38 US, completely worth instead of having to stop at every hotel along the way. We were greeted at concierge where Santos took great care of us. Our room was spectacular and we just got a luxury suite with jacuzzi, NO BUGS, AIR WORKED GREAT, ROOM CLEANED EVERY DAY overall amazing. Our room was a great location from pool or to beach or to bar.
One thing that really irritated about these bad reviews is people complaining about the walking. for all those who said the walking was too much, YOU ARE ALL LAZY AND BORING!!! You are in paradise people. Nothing was more than a ten minute walk and that is if you are walking completely across the resort. Either way the grounds are kept beautiful and walking off all those food/beverage calories is much needed. The beach is so clean and to be honest all the vendors on the beach is all part of the experience. I found it interesting to see all the things they had to offer, i bought a few pieces of jewelry and my boyfriend bought a box of cigars. The weather was great the entire time
The food was great too. We ate breakfast every morning at the GABI Club in the reserve with our friends. The Grill's traditional steak was awesome, I loved the mexican restaurant MOLE and we had a special night at FUEGO-Warning they are very strict on dress code so make you read word for word before going in-my boyfriend had to go back and put closed toe shoes on- it was a 7 course food tasting. There was 6 of us and although some of the food was a little out there for me, i tried everything and it brought great conversation amongst our table.
Overall the service by all staff was great, never had to wait long for a drink or food or room service. I literally teared up when we had to leave but immediately came home and tried to plan my next vacation back to the paradisius. We plan on making it an annual trip.
My advice to all future travelers You are in paradise, if you really want to get disgruntled about the tiniest things then you are just an angry human being by nature. RELAX, ENJOY YOURSELF. YOU ARE ON VACATION NOT AT WORK SO LEAVE THE STRESS AT HOME!!!. Thank you Paradisius, i do not think i have ever had a better time anywhere else."

"We stayed 7 days and loved it. The folks that complained about the different service levels should have done their homework and found out about the prices for the different levels. One level was for 18 and over and another catered to families. We were very happy with the resort. It had a great workout facility and my son got to play golf everyday. The resort is not that big, so we never felt the need to take the shuttle and walked everywhere. We ate at most of the restaurants and had no complaints about the meals. At the buffets, the salad bar was great and the fruit was fresh. The staff was always pleasant. The pool area was very big and we never felt crowded. Overall it was a great experience."

"I booked this property because they had 2 pools and 11 restaurants. I was surprised to find out that this resort had what is called 'reserve royal service' that entitled certain guests to certain restaurants, club, pool and 75 percent of the beach, there was also a path to the beach that regular guests didn't have access. You felt like you were on the titanic as 3rd class. The buffet restaurant called Naos had terrible food. The Grill had a decent steak. The Japanese restaurant advertises sushi but actually is hibachi. The only good thing I could say is the mojitos were good. A long wait for trolley cars to take you around, the toilet was not working. I will never return and I will stay away from Paradisus resorts and Melia all inclusive resorts. Very disappointed!!!"

"We had a 4 night stay at this hotel. Many complaints, not happy overall with the resort. Waited for trolley carts to take you around the resort, told we could not use a portion of the beach, restaurants, club or pool as that was for Reserve members. We were treated like 2nd class guests. The food that was available was horrible! We will never return or vacation at any Melia resorts."

"Very nice resort. The overall experience was very good. I was surprised to know that the stay included a scuba dive session (free). I took advantage and the Master diver who was very good. Food and brand alcoholic beverages was also a plus. Also enjoyed the night shows especially the fire display. club was cool too. The staff was friendly and helpful. the only thing that could have been improved was to make it at least a 3 or 4 night stay (i only stayed 2 nights), i should have addressed the airconditioning issue on the first night and my wife didnt like seeing hair in the toilet since the toilet didnt flush very well. Other than that it was very nice stay. Also, they have a very nice 'kid zone' where the kids can be dropped off from 7am - 7pm with very nice staff and cool looking location...my nieces didnt seem to miss us since they showed them how to cook pizza, paint, swim, etc., I would go there again"

"I cannot say enough good things about the PARADISUS Resort and the wonderful staff! My wife and I have never had such fantastic service in such gorgeous surroundings! We stayed in one of the ROYAL SERVICE LUXURY JR. SUITES and it was worth every penny! We stayed from July 1-7 when the resort was at 87% capacity.
THE ROOM was very CLEAN and the DECOR was ultra modern and chic. We loved the FREE ROOM SERVICE and FREE MINI BAR. Oh and especially the FREE BOTTLE SERVICE that also comes with Royal service. Furthermore, the complementary bottle of Rum and authentic Dom. Rep. treats when we arrived were very appreciated! We even tried the 'PILLOW MENU'... my wife got a Lavender scented pillow and I got an orthopedic. Wow.
You CALL, and they come within 5 max 10 minutes with a golf cart to TAKE YOU WHERE YOU WANT TO GO (so you don't have to walk all the time or wait for the bigger golf carts that make stops throughout the park like a bus).
You really do get a section of the BEACH just for Royal Service so there are always big bali beds and lay out chairs available, some of which are covered so you can choose sun or shade. You also really get a private Royal Service POOL that is beautiful and never crowded, with a great BAR in the pool and beds in the water and all around the pool. We had some great times there and talked to some great people!
My wife and I are active people, so we loved all the ACTIVITIES. We especially took advantage of the SNORKELING and the PING PONG tables, along with just SWIMMING in the pool and in the beautiful ocean waters. We tried to practice ARCHERY, but it was occupied the few times we went. FYI: We heard the ECOLOGICAL TOUR that is offered ($85 pp) was really authentic and fun.
The FOOD was terrific! I read some people's reviews whose opinions differ, but the restaurants we tried were great (Japanese, Mediterranean, Italian, Brazilian, and the normal buffet). As a Royal Service guest you get to eat BREAKFAST and LUNCH in the ROYAL SERVICE LOUNGE. The lounge is a more intimate and quiet place to eat, use the internet, read, etc, and DOES have AIR CONDITIONING and REALLY GREAT FOOD. If you need anything at all, the Royal Service Lounge is where you go! You also make DINNER RESERVATIONS there instead of standing in line with non-Royal Service guests on a first-come first-served basis.
We were very sad to leave, but it was awesome when they gave us our FINAL BILL and it was a whopping $1.00. I love All Inclusive..."

"The resort is truly quite beautiful. The beaches and the pool were amazing. The food was great, and the staff was friendly. The rooms, although lovely, had issues with air conditioning. The rooms my family occupied were fine, but the one my husband and I had was hot. It was cooler outside than in our room. When we approached the manager about the problem it was like they didn't want to hear it. We were moved to another room, but when that one wasn't cool either it was a battle with the management in order to moves us yet again. I certainly didn't go on vacation to argue over air conditioning. In the end they moved us into a room that was more than comfortable and made up for our inconvenience. We had one of the best vacations we have ever had, excluding the a/c issues."

"This was the first all inclusive for my wife and I. We had a great time the resort was amazing and it helped that the weather was great the whole time. It was not a busy time of the year for them so it was great getting a chance to know some of the staff and even talk to other patrons without fight for a cabana or beach chair by the pool side. I was skeptical about whether everything was all inclusive just because it always sounds too good to be true but they definitely delivered.
There was one weird thing that ended up working for the better. I called the actual resort about a week and a half in advance to double check what section of the resort our room would be in ( they have a general section and then The Reserve with the private pool and bigger suites). They said that ours is not The Reserve but if we wanted to upgrade it was $60 per person per night (so for us an additional $600) I told time i'll get back to them on it. I never did because I didnt want to spend that much extra. When we actually checked in to the hotel the guy at the front desk said that I actually upgraded the room and that it would be an extra $300 dollars. I know for sure that I didnt upgrade and i believe the knew that too and wanted to see if i would upgrade for half off. I picked up on that thinking that $300 for an upgrade was quite a Deal and thats exactly what it was. It made all the difference and im glad I did it. Im sure they did it because they knew that the resort was not busy( it was the end of May right before Memorial Day weekend).
We had the king suite with the two person Jacuzzi in The Reserve. Great room.
The food was pretty good. certain dishes were great, but overall everything was just fair-good with the understanding that its all inclusive. Drinks were good the bartenders were great. We did the Adventure Boogie excursion and that was fun. It was all the excursion we needed. I would have liked to go to the ziplining though. We did more relaxing and drinking by the poolside than anything else.
It was the best vacation we've ever been on and its great not worrying about things. We tipped throughout even though we didnt really see other people tip. We brought about $100 in singles and gave it to bartenders waiters and left a little for the maid at the end of our stay. We'll definitely be back."

"A bit disappointed. The food was really not good at all. Also I found the advertising/marketing to be a bit misleading. The lighting in the rooms were very dark. We had to pay for top shelf liquor. (We did not stay in the Reserve or Royal Service so I am not sure if that was included in that package). We would have liked air conditioning in at least some of the restaurant areas. Only one that we went into had air conditioning but it wasn't really all that cool. Also we didn't like the bathroom door situation. It was just a sliding frosted glass. It was very pretty but it lacked a sense of privacy. This was our first visit to an all-inclusive so I could be a bit harsh on our review but we were a bit disappointed."

"Overal the hotel is nice but ... Check in is ridiculously slow. Two people at counter and it literally takes 15 minutes to check each person in. Check in person has to make 7 trips and use two computers to get their job done and God help you if they get distracted along the way. Better go for drinks if you're fourth in line. Bait and switch. We reserved one room and they gave us something different. Told us it was better but it was not. They would prefer to tell you what you want to hear then deal with conflict. Skip the hotel transfers and take a taxi at whatever cost. We showed up and sat in a bus for 30 minutes only to run a hotel circuit of 6 stops of which were last. Total wait from moment we got to bus and arrived at hotel was 90 minutes. Same was true on return trip. If you are used to travelling and enjoy fine food then you will be disappointed. We liked the numerous restaurants and atmosphere but in the end the food was just so so and in fact we had to pass on a couple of dinners because it was bad. We reverted to pizzas when we gave up. Service is a little rough, you will be seated right away but may have flag down someone for drinks, coffee or desserts etc. In a couple of cases we had to do it multiple times because they just forgot. Beach was incredible and the pool was nice as well. There is more waiting at the pool bars. The sooner you get used to waiting the better off you will be. Room service was fast and good and the $5 fee is worth it. "

"Great resort to visit! Rooms, dining areas, pool, beach area, lobby, and overall resort grounds were amazing. Beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Food options are many, however, quality is definitely not the best. Drinks flow abundantly, but (as you can expect in any all-inclusive) watered down; it took about 8 rum&coke's to give me a slight buzz, and the tropical mixed drinks are delicious but more like smoothies than alcoholic beverages. Anything not covered in the price of the all-inclusive package is extremely expensive, so beware- $23 for sunscreen, $35 for a bathing suit top! All in all, I was a happy tourist. No need to leave the resort as there are plethora of activities to do there, besides, it's dangerous out on the town."

"This was my first experience to an All-inclusive resort, so all I had to compare it to was others' experiences and personal research. Below are some things future guest should expect: BAD - Waiting time to get through D.R. Customs (around 1 hour) - Shuttle ride from airport to resort last roughly an hour, because we had to wait on other passengers to arrive - Check-in at resort took 30 mins GOOD - The staff was awesome! Always happy, smiling, and willing to help in any way - The room was very nice, contemporary decor, and modern appliances - The room service cleaned the room at least 3 times a day, re-stocked fridge with beer, water, drinks, etc. - We never had to wait on drinks or food, because the resort is plenty big to accomodate its occupancy - The food quality was good, especially the Terra. Dining service was excellent as well - The resort has a true 'outdoor' feel to it. Every restaurant, bar, lobby, etc. is open to the outside and presents a Caribbean experience - Good name brand liquors (Beam, Bacardi, Tengurey, Stolichnaya, etc.) - Surprisingly equipped exercise room with barbells, dumbells, elipticals, treadmills, bikes, machines, etc. - Pools were great and always clean. The grounds in general were always tidy - Nearly all the guests were happy and enjoyable to talk to - The dance club was fun, and there are shows every night in the lobby that people attend for night life - There was very little solicitation, but they almost always respected a simple 'no thank you' Overall, a great experience that my wife and i will never forget. We made many friends with the workers and bar tenders. The people within the resort are what made our experience so great."

"Our trip to Punta Cana was a pleasure. Bavaro Beach is absolutely beautiful and all of the pictures of the Paradisus live up to every expectation. The grounds are clean and well kept, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the weather was great. The buffet food is acceptable, but if you can I would encourage trying the sit-down restaurants. The food was much tastier and prepared by dish, instead in a huge buffet line. We really enjoyed 'El Romantico' and 'Terra' above the rest. The bar tenders are awesome at keeping the drinking flowing, although you will quickly find those who make the best drinks. We stuck with Jorge and he never let us down! Be sure to sign up early to take out water sport equipment-it is worth getting out in a kayak or small sail boat. There are plenty of excursions to chose from right on the beach or in the lobby of the hotel. A key feature of the resort that was not explained until the moment we checked out was that you have to be out of your room by 12pm, but you are free to use the beach/bars/restaurants of the resort until you depart for the airport! They even have a courtesy shower and small room to keep your luggage up at the front lobby. Wish we had known that before our last day! Overall, Paradisus was an amazing experience and we would recommend it to anyone."

"Upon checking in, I was told that the resort overbooks during Easter week and there was no room available for me until after 3:00 the next afternoon. I was put up in a poor quality hotel for the night and no efforts were made to compensate me for my inconvenience. Because of this error, I missed two cruises and two spa facials and was not reimbursed for either, nor were either re-scheduled for me. The mini bar was not re-stocked until the last day. When it was, an opened bottle of water with a straw was put in it. Disgusting!!! Also, there was no bathroom door and I was staying with my 15-year-old daughter. When I complained, I was told they were sorry. Very inappropriate! My advice on booking a vacation at this hotel: RUN! RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!!"

"The resort is worn. The beach setting is magnificant. The Italian and Rodizio resturants were pretty good, but the other food was average to below average. We reported the toilet in our room leaked water onto the floor the day we checked-in and reported it again later in our stay, but no one came to fix it in the five days we were there. It paradise, but I will look for another resort/hotel next time."

"Very bad experience. Food was below par. Hard to communicate with the staff. We had a very bad experience. It was hard to communicate with the staff, as most of them don't understand English. Food at the two buffet restaurants was horrible and had a very limited choice. On December 31st the hotel serve the worst food possible. We saw many other people complaining about the food. There were long waits for the trolley to go around. No coordination between the guest services and the security staff. Furniture in our room was broken. TV was not working. First half a day got wasted in fixing these problems and moving to other room. AC was making noise liken a train engine. During shifting the room we lost one of our bag, which security office got it but it took us forever to get this bag as they said they don't have it. It took us three hours to get medical help. I will not recommend anyone to go to this resort."

"We decided to go on vacation last minute and booked at the Paradisus Punta Cana. My husband and I have travel a good bit and have stayed in all-inclusive resorts, regular resorts and cruised with Royal Caribbean. Here is what you need to know.
First, yes, the resort is big and you will have to take trams/golf carts rides, BUT different things are walkable depending on where your room is located. If you stay at the Reserve, which is a TIME SHARE, you are not walking distance to the beach, you are not on the beach. We stayed one row back from the beach and we were able to walk to everything but the Reserve and the main lobby.
Second, the Reserve is part of the Club Melia Time Share Company. They will do EVERYTHING to convince you to sit through their 90/120 min sales pitch for the Reserve. If you don't mind taking some time out of your vacation make sure to ask IN ADVANCE what you are getting in return for listening to their pitch or you might walk out empty handed. We did not care so we told them no at the beginning of the trip and they did not bother us again. You are NOT REQUIRED to take the tour, if you do not want to SAY NO.
Third, if you are going in the summer which is the hottest time of the year for the DR it will be hot and the resort only has a few air-conditioned spaces. This would be my only complaint about the resort. Even the places that are air conditioned did not seem cool enough.
Fourth, the food. The food and restaurant are not Five-Star but they are not terrible either. The buffets are all well done and the food was always tasty and warm/cold, which ever it was supposed to be. The al a carte restaurants were good. We went to each restaurant and tried a bunch of different things. We never had a terrible dish, some dishes were just okay but nothing bad. Our favorite was the Vento, Mediterranean.
Finally, being a couple with no children made the Royal Service a great added bonus. We were able to book the Royal Service on cheapcaribbean.com at the same price as the regular resort. Royal Service basically trumps ALL at the Paradisus. You have a separate driving service, lobby, and concierge. If we needed anything we called the Royal Service Desk and they handled it for us. You also get a separate private pool for adults only. I was actually surprised when they told people to leave, very exclusive.
Overall our stay was great. The service is outstanding and my husband and I had a wonderful relaxing vacation.
Construction Warning: They are currently building a new Gabi Club on the beach. It did not bother us but it did obstruct the view from the Royal Service Lobby and Pool. Construction should be complete DECEMBER 2012."

"Great resort. Not my first all inclusive, but my first trip to the DR. The resort is very tropical (the plants and layout make you feel like you are miles away from civilization). The food was fantastic, many options and great service. The pools and beach great as well. Only complaint (more like a surprise) was how many people spoke Spanish, from staff to guests, had to remember back to being in middle school and taking spanish then (believe it or not it helped). If I go back to the DR, I will be returning to this resort."

"i have been talking highly about my vacation to my colleagues and everyone wants to go there...the amenities great, the food is safe especially the water to drink, awesome activities .there was no dull moment and foremost, the white sand and beautiful beach.you can drink till you drop if you enjoy drinking...I misplaced my jewelry and security came right away to help me search...I felt bad because I found it when I got home.i hope they get this message of apology. My experience with Paradisus was one of my greatest trips to the islands...the Best! I look forward to going back.."
