"Resort is clean and well maintained, our junior suite with 2 beds was clean as well. Central A/C worked fine. Had issues with non-working phone and closed safety box. Issues were resolved from 2nd attempt. Staff at reception is pretty friendly and effective, other staff just didn't care about customer service. You could get more attention by trying to speak Spanish, but I know just a few words and my wife doesn't know any. We didn't have issues with pushy Privilege service sales, but actual fact of 2-level service is a disappointing factor. Animations were nice, we actually won one of the contests and got 2 bottles of Dominican rum as the prize. Evening events were decent, actors were amateur, except fire show on the beach, which was pretty cool. Room bar was really poor on drinks. Only privilege service gives you top shelf liquor, otherwise at your disposal is terrible beer and different cocktail mixes of poor quality. Again, might depend on your ability to communicate in Spanish. Buffet food was bad, so our dinners we spent in themed restaurants, which were really good. We tried every single one of them and were not disappointed in any. They don't require reservation, but some of them have lines even before opening, so make sure you get there early. Resort area is pretty large, pools large and very good, beach is nice, sometimes has seaweeds, depending on high or low tide. Overall experience is decent, but I'd not return there for the price paid."

"We have been to Punta Cana many times. So, I would have to say that Ocean is a cut above average, but, not the best. Still, I would recommend to not be disappointed! Resort was very clean. The bedroom furniture nicer than most. We were here in November, since it is a 'slower' season not all restaurants were available all of the time. We ate at the La Brasa steak house & it was very good!! Some of our group tried the italian, the mexican and the coffee house/pastries. All were very good, La Brasa being our fav. The rest of the time we ate at the main buffet. Main buffet would have different themes & we were always satisfied with something or several things there. The beach buffet during the day had fewer choices. Most days they even had the same dishes. The staff at the beach were not as friendly, but, we loved sitting out under the awnings and enjoying the view. The rest of the staff were very friendly, especially if you show them some courtesy & they also appreciate when you can speak some spanish even if it is something small!! Please remember a lot of these people work 14 - 45 days staight before getting some time off!! I was very impressed that the majority of them could still smile and be friendly! We also were impressed with the Circus show in the theatre. The other nights were very reminiscent of other resorts, but, I have to say Ocean has some really good dancers. We went into the casino one night. Had fun. Won a little. Disco same as most. It opens at 11:00 pm & stays open till 3:00 a.m. Our group had 3 rooms. The week we were there unfortunately, it rained quite a bit. Two of our rooms flooded in the middle of the night from a storm!!!!! Do not leave your clothes on the floor! There is a straw market to the left of the beach with just about anything you can think of to buy! Be prepared to haggle! This resort has sailcloth for awnings on the beach vs. palapas. We prefer palapas!! Also, it is posted everyday on the activity sheet that the resort does not condone saving chairs,but, there are alot of inconsiderate people out there. So by the time we would get to the beach, late morning, all the covered sites were taken with the majority of the people to never be seen at their sites!!! Over all, we enjoyed our vacation. If this is some of your first experiences with all-incl., it is great!! If you've been to many, you will find this to nice, but, kind-of average!!"

"Hotel very nice and clean. Hotel staff very friendly. Beach sometimes was dirty but they would clean, pools were very nice. Restaurants moderate even though food selection was limited. I traveled with my 11 & 12 year old, they had a good time at pool, beach with animation crew. They enjoyed kids club playing pool, bowling, xbox, wii and the nightly shows in the theater. Overall we had a great time."

"I had booked the trip as a surprise for my partner to celebrate both his birthday and our 11 year anniversary, which happen to fall on the same day. After a long day of travel, we arrived at Ocean Blue to check in. After watching a couple sets of people check in ahead of us, we finally got to the counter and were ready to get settled. The gentleman behind the counter started to process our information and then a look of concern came over his face. We were asked, in broken English, to wait a few moments to the side for someone to come speak with us. We stepped to the lounge area and the resort employee processed to take the next group of people. After just a few minutes of waiting another hotel employee approached us and began to explain that the resort was overbook and they had arranged accommodations at another resort not far from here. We were surprised to say the least. And certainly disappointed. What was probably most disappointing about this was that there was no option given to us. After spending a great deal of time determining how and where we were going to spend an event that was special to us, suddenly, we had the rug pulled out from under us and we were being shipped off some place else like we were nothing more than a reservation number. It was explained to us where we would be staying and that we would need to sign a release form to do all of this. The release form was presented to us in spanish. While I certainly understand the need for a release form, what I don't understand is that the gentleman from the hotel explained to us that they had informed the agency the day prior to the fact that they were oversold, yet no attempt to contact us was made. Ultimately, we felt strong armed into signing this release. Either sign the release or not have any place to stay. Fearing not having a place to stay We didn't have any other choice. The gentleman we spoke to at the hotel, assured us that when we got there we would be upgraded to a deluxe suit with a hot tub on the balcony. He could promise us an ocean front room, which we had asked from because of the inconvenience, but he said he would get upgraded and have all the amenities. When we finally arrived , the check-in process was smooth and the staff was adequate, however, the room was not what we were told we would have. We were in a junior room at, what seemed like, the farthest end of the complex, in the family area. While, ultimately, we made the best of it and have an enjoyable experience, it could have been a great deal smoother and we could have been more prepared had there been better communication. "
