Beautiful resort, very friendly staff and workers! Gorgeous beach! Clean rooms! Great food! What can I say, everything was wonderful ! We would definitely return! Weather was nice, one cloudy day with alittle rain. Would be fun to go with a larger group, family friendly. No complaints! Good nightly entertainment , variety, lots of dancing. Pool bar activities, music, exercise, dancing lessons, and lots of relaxation ! Good drinks, lots of them! Thanks to everyone !š???

Not what I was expecting. Last year we stayed at the Riu Palace in Cabo twice and absolutely loved it. Because of that we were excited to try another palace. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. The buffet never changed its food selection one night while we were there minus the soups, but who wants to eat soup when itā??s 86 and SO humid? The breakfast was also the same every day. The Reservations at the restaurants were hard to come by but yet all the times we were at a restaurant there wa... Read more

The hotel is very impressive, from the outside. The bedrooms are disappointing and very smelly with sofas heavily stained and smelling of sweat. Despite a room change and asking the maid if she could solve the odour poblem, it did not alter a thing. All bedrooms we looked at were drab and smelly. The main swimming pool is a health hazard with cloudy pool water most days, overcrowded and so noisy. Beach lovely but sunbeds scruffy; the garden areas were pleasant. Meal times ok but again the furni... Read more

This was our fifth stay here, which we choose for the spectacular beach (lots of shade available), excellent service, and outstanding grounds. Breakfast & lunch (outdoors or inside) at buffets with many choices, but little daily variation. Dinner with reservations at a la carte small restaurants - I recommend the Italian (ate there twice) this time. Free wifi in lobby - get password from reception. We booked an inexpensive 3rd floor garden view room: very clean, linen & towels replaced, water... Read more

Travelled to riu palace punta cana for 2 weeks on 12 May 2016. We were a party of 11 family& friends with 2 children. We were rather concerned after reading some of the reviews. HOWEVER. We LOVED this hotel and had a great time. Food was good. Buffet had lots of choices for all meal times. Tried all the restaurants. Loved the steak restaurant the best (beach restaurant). There was an awful smell in the room that you can't get away from. The smell followed us home, I wanted to burn my clothes. The rooms are outdated. The furniture in general is really outdated. There's barely any lounging area (comfy) spots inside the hotel. There's no grill on the beach and the entertainment sucked! I expected more from Riu. I would not return here again!

We have just got back from our one week vacation from the RIU Palace Punta Cana. My boyfriend and I travelled with another couple and had a wonderful week! The staff was extremely friendly and the grounds of the hotel were beautifully kept. The food was standard (you can't expect too much from the Dominican) However I'd recommend booking the a la carte restaurants. The rooms need to be updated but they are still cleaned to perfection everyday. This hotel is a great price point for what you are g... Read more

I stayed at the Riu Palace recently. The resort is beautiful, grounds are gorgeous....but everyone wants to know the problems. So here goes. We booked a junior SUPERIOR suite and just so you know all that means is you will be in a standard room with a courtyard view (there are no Ocean views). We were under the impression that we payed extra money for the jaccuzzi suite, which is not the case. Apparently that is a secret honeymoon suite you have to request and pay even MORE for when you get ther... Read more

First of all I need to say this 7day trip was won on a local radio station in St. Louis. My wife and I and our 24 yr old son went. It is a very nice place, the staff, resort and restaurants are all nice. The resort is within a larger complex of about 4-5 Riu resorts. Riu Bambu, Palace, naiboa, bavaro and Macao, the last being an adults only. Palace and Bambu both have swim up bars, unable to enjoy the Macao as it was not included with our arm band. Scary reviews. Booked it anyway. The four of us had a great experience with the palace. Two kids 14 and 12 years old. First out of the USA trip for the kids. Food was good. My son loved the Don Manuel buffet. I thought the staff was friendly. People complained about language issues. We speak no Spanish and survived. Life lessons for the kids. We used the safe and had no security problems. Mini fridge was always stocked with clean water and other beverages. Felt safe enough for my kids to roam a... Read more

This is the 5th Riu Palace property we have stayed at. The other 4 were in Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Even the other non-Palace Riu properties were better than what we experienced here. I'm not saying it was a bad experience, but it sure wasn't anything special as we have come to expect from our experiences at other resorts. What is so aggravating is that it would take so little effort and cost on management's part to put some "Wow" into this place. As a guest at this Palace, I was surpris... Read more

This hotel was beautiful, but there was a musty odor that hit us as soon as we opened the door to our room. They were pretty responsive about coming to spray, but it was useless. The odor persisted like the room had not been aired out in centuries. The furniture was also pretty worn. This was the only negative.. The positives were the attitudes and friendliness of the staff. Hearing about my mothers experience at The RIU in Ocho Rios Jamaica gave me high expectations for RIU Palace DR. The rooms smell like mold for one. We were in the room when the cleaning lady came and she tried to sell us beads.. We left to go to the pool for a few hours and came back to no electricity!! The wait staff worked VERY hard and always had a smile and were ready to help in any way. They were very accommodating and provided wonderful service. The buffets were just O.k. By far the best vacation I have had. I went for a destination wedding, all inclusive. And this place was ALL inclusive, even the mini bar in the room. Although the hotel offered multiple excursions, the Riu compound offered so much, you really do not have to leave. The beach and it's view is absolutely breathtaking. AND the staff; phenomenal!!! They were professional and extremely helpful. I can go on and on about the staff. They aer a true example of what customer service should be like.... Read more

First the negatives. Resort definitely needs some attention in the restoration area. Pull out couch/beds are the originals. Key for safe lock is hilarious. They replaced the original with a square peg insert that they give you when you check in. Ingenious from a resort that wants to save money but from a consumer side a cheap message and hint of thinks to come. Our mattress in the first room smelled so much we moved to another room which was smaller but smelled clean. Only problem was the... Read more

We stayed for seven nights July 2016. It is a beautiful resort right on a lovely beach with palm trees for shade. Our main concern was that our room and all the dinning areas were always very hot with poor ventilation. There was mold on the wall of our room and a very very musty smell every day. Three days we had to put towels on the floor to keep from slipping on the wet floors. It was never cool and dry in our room. We were greeted with a cold drink by wonderful wait staff. We had about a half hr wait for the room. The lobby was beautiful but the rooms were worn and cigarette burn and stains on the sofa and mold in a few corners of the shower. Other than that, the staff, entertainment, food etc was awesome.

We booked through Expedia,Beware! We paid 500.00 extra for the much larger suite as pictured on the Expedia site. We were in a Junior Suite. The hotel insisted that this small room was a suite. Blue (Expedia rep on site) told us we would have to contact Expedia when we got home to settle up on the difference. Expedia called the hotel, hotel said we were in a sute..so case closed! Misrepresentation...scam...call it what you wish. I have photos and a our room number. I can guarantee we were NOT in... Read more

Let me just say, I had been going on trip advisor nonstop before my trip to the Riu Palace Punta Cana and I was very nervous about the mixed reviews on here. But, I can honestly say I don't know why people are such nit pickers. It's quite simple, no bed will ever be as comfortable as the one you have at home and when you are staying at a resort just keep it in mind that tons of people are in and out of these places all the time so a little wear and tear is to be expected but this property has b... My wife and i were looking forward to spending 14days at the Riu Palace as we had good reports from friends who had been there prior to our visit. I can honestly say we were not disappointed at all apart from one rainy day due to the bad weather that passed the Caribbean side of the island which we new might happen prior to us arriving. The view of the hotel as we arrived made us feel excited at what lay ahead and when we walked into the huge main reception area we new that we had done the right... Read more

Just back from 2 weeks here. There a number of good things and bad things about this hotel. The staff - Benjamin in the pool bar was excellent and we never had a wrong drink. He even suggested new ones for us to try. Matos and Victor were good around the pool during the day. In the main buffet restaurant Joel and Michael were very good. Unfortunately in the other bars and on a night the staff were not as good. I had to send at least one drink a night back as it was normal Pepsi not diet as req... Read more

It been the second time after 5yrs comming back...food, pool, beach, lobby everything so close and convenient. One of the main reasons we came back. Not too much walking to get to places. Awesome food in every restaurant... but rooms are very humid and they need to either renovate ir improve cleanliness.

Spent 5 nights at the Riu Oct 17-21, 2016. Resort is beautiful. Food very good and good choices. This is expected of a Riu Palace. But the best part was the STAFF!! These folks are so kind - Hands down the best service I have ever had!! and I have stayed at more than 7 All inclusives before! Diroache' was at the buffet everyday greeting us, making sure we had our coffee and mimosa in the morning and even pulled out our chairs as we went to and from getting our food. This was our 2nd visit to the Riu Palace Punta Cana and as our 1st visit, it didn't fail to disappoint! On arrival, Nelson on reception was as helpful as ever. Thomson was supposed to request the rooms we had the year before, however this wasn't possible but Nelson gave us the same rooms on the 3rd floor. He told us to look out on balcony....yay! We had a hot tub on a terrace at no extra cost! Housekeeping were amazing! Clean towels twice a day and beds turned down in the evening! We were deli... Read more

Food: Exceptional and quite a variety. We loved that you didn't need reservations for the restaurants. If you love steak, go to the Japanese restaurant. If you like lobster tails, go to the Steakhouse. Rooms: Ask for the fountain view facing the middle on the 2nd floor. If you get a room on a floor any higher, the view will be obstructed with palm trees. The rooms were clean, and comfortable. Beach: The beach was exceptional, and not much seaweed. It's sometimes difficult to get drink... Read more

The resort was very nice overall the staff waiter and waitresses were friendly and helpful.Food was way above average with many different things to choose from. My main issue with the resort was the public facilities were a long walk from the swimming pool bar and the beach making me have reservations about going into the pools in the afternoon after people having been drinking for several hours. Issue number 2 was the resort needs on sight transportation to aid you in going to shopping and othe... Read more

We have had good experience of Riu Hotels who particularly cater well for our 7 year old daughter. Whilst fading in some areas the room was fine and nowhere is too far away from Restaurants and swimming pool/beach. Food was generally of a good standard and varied although wine was poor unless you asked for better quality Spanish Red which was available but for some reason not generally available. Evening children's and family entertainment was again good and keep our youngest enthralled. The Chi... Read more

We arrived in our room to find one of the beds wet, only to discover it was urine. Housekeeping came along and changed the sheets. We were eventually moved to another room, that the hotel intimated they wanted to charge another $50 per night for. It didn't happen! The pool was dangerous, there were big patches of missing tiles, hand rails were loose and moved when you got hold of them. I was not impressed with this resort. While I did enjoy my trip overall, we had multiple issues that made it so I will not come back or ever suggest it to anyone. While the grounds and beach are beautiful and kept up very well, the rooms are another story. The rooms have a musty smell that carried home onto our clothes. Another problem is that it was just my husband and I in a junior sweet, and instead of a king size bed we had two smaller beds put next to each other, which certainly wasn't comf... Read more

We visited this hotel three years ago and returned recently with friends having had a great time on the previous visit. When we booked we were informed by Thompson's that this hotel was no longer rated 'platinum' and the little extras that go with this status have been removed, I should of known. Everything about this hotel says 'wind down', I also learnt that it is closing in the near future for a refurb, it needs it. The staff were on the whole totally inattentive to your needs. Loved our stay at the Hotel Riu Palace in Punta Cana. Everything went as smoothly as possible - check in, cleaning service, service at the bars and buffet (Juan I was particularly good), room service, etc. Every employee had a genuine interest in making our getaway fantastic. The rooms are starting to show their age, but they are kept extremely clean. Pool was beautiful! And the beach was great. So much for so little money! We will be back!

We just returned from a fantastic trip to the Riu Palace. When we first checked in the power was down in the whole resort which made it a bit difficult to get things figured out after a long day of travel. Dinner was still served via candlelight and power returned part way through our meal. Overall here were my observations: Rooms - clean and spacious. We were on the first floor with a nice view of the Plaza and fountains. We had a king bed and had the pullout couch made up for our 3 and 6 year... Read more

VERY clean throughout the hotel so cannot complain. Very humid place so everything is damp cannot be helped!!! Food is a bit same-ish in the main restaurant but not a problem using the specialty restaurants. All shopping and trips were way over priced and everything is in US $

There was always some kind of activity going on so we were never bored from morning to night. The food and drinks were delicious and just the place itself was absolutely beautiful.
