"Had such an amazing experience at this resort. The beach was phenomenal, the pool was huge, pool bar and beach bars amazing. The resort was extremely clean with staff that does EVERYTHING for you and expect nothing but friendly conversation in return. Never had an issue getting a hut at the beach, never had an issue getting lounge chairs by the pool regardless of the time of day. Food at the buffet can get repetitive but we only went on Thursday for seafood night and one other night. The a-la-carte restaurants were all AMAZING. Portofino, Don Pablos, Takura, El Olivo were all great and did not disappoint. Mini fridge stocked daily and fresh towels brought to your room twice a day, once in the am and once in the pm. Rooms were huge, we did have a corner room as we requested so it was bigger than the non-corner rooms. Basically, you can't go wrong staying here unless your a complainer because the couples who I talked to that did have minor issues, had them resolved immediately (one couple requested a king bed and they put doubles in the room but fixed it within 2 hours). I also talked to people from other resorts as we walked up and down the beach to see them and none had as many happy guests as the Ambar. Not to mention the other beaches looked seaweedy and tiny and lacked huts by like a 20:1 ratio compared to the Ambar. I'd never even consider anywhere else when I return to PC."

We read there were ice machines on each floor, no there were not. A scale in each bathroom, sure if you could see around the rust.
We read we could snorkle off the beach, there were few fish and the water was not clear.

We stayed at the Ambar, adults only but there are kids all over the beach.

We would not stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone.

The food was good and there was a good selection.

"We had a wonderful 14 day stay. The place is huge, gorgeous, clean and quiet. Our room was on the 2nd floor of Villa 64, very comfortable, large with a King Size 4 poster bed, a sitting area, ample bathroom space and a quiet terrace overlooking a common garden below. The room Bar could have been colder and the Safe could have used a light to iluminate the interior. The staff were very friendly, helpful and forever wanting to please. The food for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at the Main Buffet was wonderful, with lots of variety for everyone to try. The shops were very expensive. The Swimming Pool was large, lots of Lounge Chairs, The drinks at the Swim-Up Bar were very generous and extremely great service. We ate at the Specialty Restaurants that were available to 1st timers. All but 'the Mexican Restaurant' were good. IT had an over-powering smell of Pledge Lemon Oil polish that was very annoying and the food was no big deal. Althought the beach was public, it was very well maintained, had lots Palapas. tables and lounge chairs with Bar Service & Washroom facilities. The one thing that was nice, was that there were very few vendors and they did not pester anyone. Overall, it was an excellent holiday and we would recommend this resort as it had an Adults Only area. As for negatives: Our only complaint is that the common bathrooms toilet stalls in the Main Lobbies of this 5-Star Resort, were clean, but were extremely hot, unventilated, claustrophobic and in dire need of A/C."

"I highly recommend this resort to any couple that wants to just get away from the noise of city life. I work in a daycare so I wanted to spend time with grown-ups only at my honeymoon and I can say that the Ambar felt cleaner, calmer and generally more relaxed but still fun than the other resorts at the complex. The room was beautiful, the bathroom was perfect and the proximity to the beach couldn't have been better. The food at the restaurants and buffet were really good, the only thing is I wish they served more Spanish food being that we were in a Spanish country. My only complaint was that I was under the impression that we would be greeted a certain way in our room with champagne and 'honeymoon' decor if we mentioned we were on our honeymoon in our booking itinerary and we didn't really get any kind of acknowledgement in that regard. We had to go down to the reception desk and ask for champagne alone. In addition, even though tips are supposed to be included in the price you pay for the all-inclusive, I strongly recommend keeping single American dollars with you to tip the drivers, maids, and waiters. They do tend to serve the guests that tip better. Also shopping at the resort is very expensive so make sure you pack what you're going to need (like bug repellent and anti-histamine which cost me 9 dollars for 12 pills there). "
