I definitely recommend this hotel to any one who is looking to have a great time in Punta Cana/ Bavaro. This hotel is great for families as well as couples. Very clean and up to date. So much to do there and so little time. Hard to get bored. Pool area is fantastic, beach is phenomenal, restaurants are great, food was good and fresh and alot of variety. Definitely recommend exursions such as swimming with dolphins and horse back riding which are some of my fav's.

"Facility is great. I was there for a destination wedding and the setting was awesome. Some guests had little children and there were lots of areas for them to play and feel comfortable. The food was good, not great. But things were fresh and choices bountiful. The staff was very friendly but SLOW. True island sense of time. So, if you don't like a 2 hour plus dinner, stick to the buffets! All inclusive does not apply to recreational activities nor WIFI. The expanse of the facility means it is really never overcrowded. Bring some dollar bills and tip a bartender. You will get faster service and lots more booze when you personally connect with a staff member. The Punta Cana airport is really SLOW. Three hours arrival before your flight seems ridiculous, but given the lines through customs it avoids panic on your part. If you're a US citizen you pay $10 to get in the country and $20 to get out. A multi million dollar visitor tax. Brilliant. It is hard to believe Haiti is on the other side of the island. A sad fact and a testiment to the government and industry of the DR people. We would go back, especially with a whole family where everyone likes to do different things."

"We just returned from vacation and had a wonderful time. There were so many pools and restaurants to pick from. Bars were never too crowded and you could always find a place to sit in the sun or the shade.
For the value of what we paid, I thought it was perfect. Bathrooms were extremely well kept and our room was just fine. I found it to be quiet since we stayed near families.
I really enjoyed wandering down to the adults only pool for meals and the pool. It was nice to let loose without children and the walk was beautiful along the beach. Stayed there 4 nights and never ran out of things to do.
Japanese steak house and Italian restaurants were our favorite....and the rooftop outdoor sitting area outside the theater."

"I'll start by saying that the Hotel is Beautiful. Really big and plenty of things to do. The pools are huge and there is space for everyone. We always got really good seats by the pool and by the beach. Tons of chairs in the water as well so you stay nice and cool =). The buffet was ok, nothing to brag about, but the staff at the buffets weren't the best. The restaurants were good. Specially the Italian and Japanese. The staff at the restaurants were really good and went the extra mile to exceed the expectations. They had really good shows at night, sometimes a little too long, but good. The disco was also good. If you like the gamble the casino is a little small. The hotel room was nice and big and we also had a hot tub. Our tv didn't work for 3 days and after they 'fixed' it, it still didn't work properly. We were on vac so we didn't care much but it would have been nice to have right before going to bed or something. Our cleaning lady wasn't the best. Never refilled the stuff in the room unless i tracked her down and asked for it. Overall it was ok. I wouldnt go back because ive never been to the same all inclusive that i went before. Overall the hotel was great, the service not so much."

"The hotel property is gorgeous. However, it lacks in customer service. We couldnt get a restaurant reservation unitl 11 or 12pm. We lost power in our room for 7hours and were bit by mosquitos all night long and they could care less. My daughter fell on the slide and wound up getting stitches because I insisted she needed medical attention. They just wanted to put a bandaid. I have been to many smaller hotels in the Dom. Rep. and we have been treated with great respect and courtesy. I wanted to try a more upscale property but they just can't handle the volume. I will go back to my smaller intimate hotels. The spectacular views is just not worth being treated like cattle."

"This resorts is NOT ALL INCLUSIVE, for example internet/wifi is $ 12.00 a day, the water slide pool is $ 10.00 per person, like a coconut drink is $ 3.00 the place is HUGE and very confusing it had train/transportation but takes a really long time to bring you to places... .....I had being in another resorts in the Domnican Republic and this is the first time something like this happens to me.....that a place that sells like all inclusive is a rip off place......also I noticed discrimination in the place ...to put the cherry on top of the CAKE AA changed my return flight a package that I purchased 6 months before and I kind of loose a resort day, the departure day could not even have breakfast....I will not go back there again."

"My husband and I went to Punta Cana for our honeymoon. I loved everything. The food was excellent. The hotel has different restaurants, and 2 buffets. They also have a sports bar that is open 24 hrs. The quality of the food was excellent. The hotel is precious, clean and well organized. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everybody tried their best to make us feel welcome and at home. The rooms are beautiful and complete. There wont be anything you need and you dont have in that room. One of the things that I really liked was the fact that the hotel has a place for everyone no matter you age. There is a kids club for those who have children, and pools for the same. They also provide excursions for adults such as boogies, party boats, horseback rising. We did a few and we really enjoyed it. The beach is amazing. The pool is very nice too. I had the best honeymoon ever!"

"This hotel, the beach, the employees are all absolutely amazing. We had such a wonderful visit that we are already looking to book another trip in the summer with the entire family so that they too can experience the beauty and hospitality of Punta Cana. I can't say enough wonderful things about it. We were in building 5 which is spectacular. Our housekeeper was incredible. She totally took care of us. We had a bit of a language barrier but she still checked on us each day and made sure we had everything we needed. I wish I knew her name so that I could thank her again. If you come here you will not be disappointed. This is by far the most beautiful, clean, and friendly place we have ever been."

"We had the most amazing time. The weather was perfect, the food good the accommodations awesome. When we arrived at the airport in Punta Cana one of the people in our party needed to use a wheelchair. The staff from the airline called ahead and made sure that it was waiting for us when we got off the plane. The staff at the airport whisked us through customs and took us to the VIP counter where our guide was waiting for us to take us to the bus that transported us to the hotel. The staff on the bus were friendly and gave us 'pointers' regarding our stay in the Dominican Republic, like tips on local drinks and excursions and the need not to change your American currency into pesos. When we got to the hotel the desk staff worked with us to get a first floor room to accommodate our wheelchair use. The on-site staff met with us the next morning to give us more tips and to book any excursions we wanted to take. The hotel was beautiful and even though a lot of staff didn't speak English they were patient and tried to understand what you needed. The pools are awesome the beach clean and beautiful. The Barcelo has many stores for shopping, many restaurants for dining, a casino, dance clubs and bars. You will never go hungry or thirsty my friend. Down the beach past the adult only section there is an open market where local people are selling everything imaginable, I recommend going there to shop, it;s less expensive than the stores at the hotel and you can barter with them to get a cheaper price (they accept American $). Our room was clean and had a great view and if we needed anything stocked we just let the people at guest services know and it was there when we returned. On our return home, the staff at the hotel, VIP worked to make sure we were accommodated with the wheelchair, including walking us up to the ticket counter and to the plane. If you are planning a trip to Punta Cana I would recommend staying at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe you won't be disappointed, take an excursion offsite to see the local town, the people are friendly and the country is beautiful."

"Massive resort but well done. Really don't notice the number of the people staying there as the space is ample until it rains. Very clean and beautiful resort. A lot of algae at this particular stretch of beach. I thought the buffets were not as good as other resorts I have been too...same food day after day, meal after meal. The reservation restaurants were good. Other resorts keep the buffets open basically all day and night. Here, they close so if you arrive late or had an excursion, you are forced to eat at the sports bar where the service was slow and poor. Golf and golf course was a very nice experience. VIP transportation personnel (Andy was the rep for this hotel) was terrible. We were given written and verbal information by the representative at the airport when and where to meet him to confirm flight home. We showed...he didn't. The concierge helped us contact him. This happened 3 times. I'm not sure if VIP is unreliable or if it is just this representative."

"I have to say this was a great vacation trip! The Resort was very beautiful and all the people were exceptionally nice to me - from the workers, the guests and other tourists...It was the best! There were so many activities to participate pin and so much to do. The weather was beautiful and the Dominican Republic was great! I had never been there before so this was an exciting adventure. "Was very excited when we left on our trip January 24, 2012. We got to the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe Resort to check in and the front desk said they were full that we had to go to the Bavaro Beach Adults Only Resort, their other resort in the complex. Tried to explain that we had a minor child and had reservations, showing them the paper work and confirmations for two Golf Deluxe Rooms since October of 2011. They did not care and said sorry for inconvenience you go now!!! Got to the Bavaro Adults Only
Resort and at check in tried to tell them again that we had a minor child and our reservations were for the Deluxe Golf Rooms in the Palace Deluxe and not the Adults Only. Front Desk said Palace is full you stay here and sent us to our rooms. The Rooms were not of quality of a two star motel in the USA . The bathtubs were peeling and the grout was falling out of the doorways and floor tile. My son's room, the deadbolt lock broke once we were in the room so he could not get out the front door so had to go through the deck door in which case you couldn't go very far because you couldn't lock the deck door from the outside. We complained to Guest Services and to the front desk many many many times to get the door fixed and told yes we will send someone to fix it , no one ever came to fix the door. We went to guest services many many many times about being in the wrong resort that we had paid to be in the Palace Deluxe and that we had a minor child with. On the third day of constant complaining we were finally put into the Golf Deluxe Rooms at the Palace Deluxe where we were suppose to be. Side by Side rooms which we requested way back in October of 2011. We were never offered any compensation for all the trouble and time we had to spend in just getting what we had paid for and had confirmed we would get in the first place. By Friday the WIFI we had purchased for $45.00 stopped working and again called Guest Services and the Front Desk to be told wait for half an hour and it should be working would wait and try WIFI it still did not work this went on for several hours finally they said call us in the morning. By the Afternoon it was working only to go out again off and on more off than on the rest of our stay.. I spoke to the VIP Rep many times about all the problems we were having said he would take care of it never did and when we would stop in to see him he would not be in the VIP service center tried to get a hold of him on his cell phone and always got a busy signal. Still having hope that something could and should be done for our troubles as we spend a lot of money to go there. I went back to Guest Services and complained aboult everything for the fourth and fifth time. They always said we need to talk to our boss, their boss would have to talk to their boss but told that we should get some type of compensation, they should be able to get something done. I just kept going back as a trusting American when they told me too, and kept walking away being told that someone's boss was working on it. It came time to leave and talked to the General Manager again and he was still saying he was checking with his boss. I told him that he had stole the trust I had in people away from me by constantly leading me to believe that they even cared enough about their guests to ensure that they at the very least got what they honestly paid for. So BEWARE that just because you purchased and confirmed a room in one resort chances are you will be downgraded to their lesser resort without compensation and don't ask to get anything fixed it won't happen and BEWARE you and your minor children could be the next in the ADULTS ONLY COMPLEX. In America, it is against the law to put minors in an Adult Only Facility. In America it is against the law to sell one thing and switch it with something else of lesser value( The old Bait and Switch). I did leave the DR with a much greater appreciation for the resort and hotel industry or any business in America they know how to take care of their customers. Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe should take a few lessons from American Businesses in how to treat a customer. DISSILLUSIONED AND FRUSTRATED AMERICAN"

"I've been to th resort several times it was our first tme back since the renovations. I have to say the place looks amazing with the new upgrades. I didn't like the fact that we had to make reservations and were only given 5 cards to go to 5 restaurants whe we were there 7 nights. Our favorite restaurants hands down is the dolce vita amazin food and service also seafood the coral restaurant and hibachi kyote. We went to the adults only resort and werevery bored...oh they also have an american inspired bar/restaurant...but there always busy in there. The train service that takes you around on the resort is boring now before they plaed music now they don't. Overall ihad an amazing time relaxed ate and sat in the sun :) and my bf propoed to me which madee it that much more special! You will not be disapointedifyou go food is amazing good!"

"When we got to the airport we were suppose to be picked up by the vip people and they lead us to a no uniform person with a regular vechile.. we were a bit nervious because we did not know if we were in safe hands.. the ride to the hotel was very stressful... because alot of bad thing went thru our minds, it was when we got to the hotel that we took a breath of fresh air... please speak to your vip people not to pass on there job to other people that are not on your team... due to this bad experience my boyfriend and i had a big fight our first day was not a good one...

"The property was beautiful, the rooms were nice, but almost no one spoke English. The language barrier was enormous. There was no extra effort put forth to pair us with an English speaking employee. The menus were also in spanish with a few words in English. It was just enough for you to figure out what it was that you were ordering. I became frustrated because everytime I tried to ask a question, I got that blank smile with a nodding head, that said I have no idea what you are saying to me. The buffet food was fair. I did not like the fact that you were limited to the number of times that you could eat at the nice restaurantse (ala carte). I frequent Sandals where there are no limitations. Lastly, you could not take food out of the buffet. My husband and I were sittting five feet from the outside buffet tables having a drink and decided that we wanted a snack to go with our drinks, so I went in to get some cheese and crackers, and I was followed by a staff member who informed me that I could not sit at those tables and eat buffet food! I was literally five feet away, what was the big deal ? Also if you are on the beach and you get hungry there are no snacks or finger fooods like pizza or chicken nuggets or nachos like at other resorts that I have been to. All of the shows/entertainment were in spanish so I could not enjoy those either. This resort does not cater to Americans!
the positive side is that the resort was very nice and clean. the service was good, they would come immediately, once they figured out what you were talking about. The price was good, and the beaches were beautiful. Also please keep in mind that this is a family property, so if you mind screaming kids running around, then this is not the resort for you. They do have an adult only property next door, but when we visited there, it was dead. I did not see many people there. So the big question on everyone's mind is would I go back again? Probably not to that property! If Punta Cana is that way on all the properties, then I probably would not go back to punta cana!"

"This resort was beautiful and the rooms are very nice. My boyfriend & I booked the oceanfront junior suite and were very happy. I highly recommend upgrading to Club Premium. This package allows easier check-in, access to all specialty restaurants, spa discounts, & late check-out.
Please be warned if you do not speak Spanish!!!! The language barrier was my biggest issue with the resort. We were the only Americans in the resort it seemed. Most of the staff were unable to communicate with us & it made ordering food/drinks very difficult. I can't say I was completely blown away by the staff friendliness either.
Overall we had a really nice trip, but I'm not sure we would return to this particular resort in the future.

"beautiful resort, grounds and pool clean and well maintained. beach was not so clean, 3 out of the 6 days there was loads of seaweed in water and washing up on sand- disgusting, rooms are newly renovated but lack a good ac unit. food was excellent in buffet and at restaurants.overall a great time def do premier club worth it. sun is strong bring spf and all amenities bc it is super expensive $7 for gum and $4 m&ms"

"I was a little worried before the trip after reading some of the negative reviews of the hotel, but after staying at the hotel myself, I can advise people not to believe them. I have nothing but great things to say about the hotel. The place is absolutely beautiful! The restaurants were great (the French and Japanese restaurants were my favorites...I didn't get to try the Spanish restaurant, but it looked beautiful as well). The pool is huge and has plenty of lounge chairs. The beach is amazing! There were also plenty of lounge chairs on the beach too. There was always an activity organized by the hotel (beach volleyball, water polo, ping pong tournament, dancing lessons, etc). The staff were very friendly. I highly recommend paying a little extra for the Club Premium. You will have your own VIP check-in, check-out, and concierge service. You also have a private lounge that has bottles of water, chanpagne, and snacks, internet service, large comfy sofas...a great place to relax. The night club was fun....I lost in the Casino lol....and the room was amazing (Jr. Suite - Beachfront). Overall, I highly recommend the hotel. I hope your vacation is as enjoyable as mine."

"Absolutely beautiful! Very clean very modern atmosphere! Food was great pretty much everywhere my boyfriend and I went to grab a bite (fancy restaurants also are great but make sure men bring long pants !! There's a dress code that we were unaware of so we had to buy pants ) definitely do the Japanese and Italian cuisine restaurants !! The pool was very nice but the bar was a little shortstaffed for the amount of people in the pool trying to get drinks however the drinks were good:) beach has a lot of water sports to pick from and it's also very beautiful !! Room was very cool I loved the design and how clean it was ( we stayed in a junior suite) all staff was very friendly however some had very limited English .. Over all an amazing experience and would definitely go back! "
