"We had a great experience. We went to escape the winter blues and just relax. The food was great. We did not do any of the restaurants in which you had to make reservations only because we didn't want to feel obligated to a set time to eat. The buffets were very good, the service great, friendly. Bartenders where great, we found we had a better experience ordering drinks from the bar instead of waiting for a waitress. Pools were beautiful. Beaches were very clean, beautiful and no solicitors. We found as we walked further down the beach they hounded you more for excursions. They have a train/car that takes you to the different parts of the resorts which was very convenient. Ran every 20 minutes or so. We would definitely go back again!"

"We stayed on the adult side of the resort-- it is about a 10 minute walk to main resort from there, or a 5-minute tram ride. The numerous trams run frequently between the many places of the resort, so if you don't want to walk, you don't have to. The rooms were equipped well enough for the price-- I've seen better and worse at the same price level. Nearly every room had a view of the fantastic beach...every night we sat out on the balcony and enjoyed it. The resort is beautiful and the little bit of construction going on by the soccer/baseball field was barely noticeable. The food was okay...I would say it was terrible like other reviewers have. I do agree that you need to book your dinner reservations ahead of time so that you don't have to hit a buffet for dinner. Polish up on your simple Spanish and it will get you far-- most of the secondary staff do not speak English-- but I give them credit, everyone tries to help and is very nice. The golf course is Pete Dye designed and is well taken care of (9 greens were recently aerated when we played). The club rentals were decent, no shoe rental though. The spa was fantastic-- a bit pricey but we used $40 off coupons from the coupon book we received at check-in for our massages ($100 each after coupon).

In summary, we have stayed at several all-inclusives in the Caribbean and this one met our expectations based on price. You can spend more for a nicer vacation, but if you are looking for value, we feel this resort was well priced for the experience."

"We just arrived home on June 27 after staying at the Barcelo Adult only for 6 days. The staff was very friendly and tried hard to communicate with us. It was always difficult for us to communicate with the staff. The food at both Adult and Palace was just terrible. We are pretty much discouraged from purchasing an all-inclusive trip again. Even the selection of alcohol is well brands if that. One type of beer? The discriptions on the menus and the actual meals were never right.Barcelo needs to look at hiring another Chef and he needs to visit his properties and taste the food. We could not wait to go home to have a good meal! Even the ice-cream at the Steakhouse was not edible. Taated like a chemical ingredient. How can you mess up ice-cream? The Beach and pool were fantastic and so was our massage!!"

"Although the staff at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach were friendly, there weren't many that spoke English, making simple things a big inconvenience. Purchasing items at the different gift shops was complicated as some accepted cash, while others could be charged to your credit card and still others only could be charged to the room. The Concierge was not helpful at all, considering we had to wait for someone to translate for us."
