The beach at this resort is beautiful. The resort is comparable to Motel 8 in furnishings. The food and entertainment is really special. At night the resort's guards carry shotguns and it's not a safe area to walk off the resort at night.

Just there for a week with my friend and was so impressed. Great food, especially in the Italian and Mexican restaurants. Very clean and well kept. The staff and entertainment team were amazing. We did the scuba diving tour that was offered there and felt safe the whole time and had two great dives. The beach is beautiful and location is close to the party spots in Cabarete if you are interested in that. Loved getting to know the locals there. Had a very hard time leaving. Would suggest this pla... Read more

We visited here for two weeks very recently. The hotel had a quick check-in and we were in our room within 15 minutes. The room itself was wonderful! It was very spacious with two queen beds, a flatscreen tv and a wardrobe with plenty of hangers. The bathroom had a nice walk-in shower with rain head and multiple jets on the sides. They provided shampoo and bar soap. Our balcony looked out to the ocean which was a nice upgrade we hadn't paid for. We were in building 4 which had the adult pool ... Read more

I think we got our money's worth here. The beach is beautiful. The pool is nice as well. The rooms are not bad, our shower handle was broken and but we didn't mind. The Mexican restaurant was ok but the buffet was great! This was my first time at a resort and I think was it was good experience. The wifi in the lobby is super super slow and can get annoying at times but we weren't there to be on the internet so it was ok to just get by. The people working at the resort were really nice. I stayed here for 5 nights. Positives: The resort is small. Each room has a balcony which was great. My air conditioned worked great! The grounds were well kept and the staff were really nice and helpful. Security officers on resort premises. Ok parts: The food and drinks were ok. You have three choices for food - Italian, Mexican, and buffet with variety. There was only one bar. There was no free Wi-Fi in the rooms only in the check-in area. If you need Wi-Fi in your room, you would have to ... Read more

First, my husband and I have been to the DR many times to both Punta Cana and Sosua. The people who work at the hotels are the best and friendliest. The room we stayed in needed to be updated badly. It was from the early '60's it seemed and so was the mattress and pillows. We were in agony when we woke up in the morning. The faucet in the bathroom sink wasn't secured to the sink and could be removed easlily. No soap or shampoo ledge in shower and every thing had ot be put on the floor of the sho... Read more

My wife and I have visited the Tangerine for many years. It is a smaller resort but with a big heart. There have been many improvements since our visit last year and we were told the resort would close for several month later this year for a complete renovation. Our room was extremely clean and comfortable. The housekeeper did a great job and each day we would find a different towel creation in the room. What makes this resort fun and enjoyable is the staff. Our check-in was quick and efficient.... Read more

In the month of May alone i have been there 2 times. Very comfortable environment especially when you have kids. Never saw anything unappropriated, the entertainers where very friendly, front desk as well recommend Mr. Mendoza for reservation and Mr. Jaime at concierge. I will totally recommend this resort to anyone that wants to have a peacefully place to spend with the family.

This resort is perfect for families and older people. The food is good but have had better at other resorts. The drinks were super weak and should have been called juice. The nightlife in the resort was lacking. If you're looking to relax this is the resort for you. The pool is nice and the entertainment was a little bit corny. We made the best of it. The wifi was only in the main lobby and is so slow. My biggest complaint would be every one is trying to sell you something. There are people at t... Read more

First I want to say that the food is ok in that resort, no kind of a complaining about the food. The rest of the resort is horrible, in 21 century there is no internet, if you want to have wi fi you have to pay over than, what you payed for GOLD. We have the problem with front door of our room and AC , I spoke twice with reception, but nobody came to fix the problem, the next day I Spoke again with reception and finally someone was came to solve the problem but after 5 minutes doing nothing, he ... I want to start this review by saying that my friend and I found a good deal for this place on groupon in the winter. I read the reviews and thought "it can't be that bad, we'll be in the sun most of the day anyway" but it was awful. I went in with very low expectations and I wanted to leave after 24 hours. Our first day there we found that our shower door was broken, it was weird and had a two piece opening and only one side would open. Luckily my friend and I are skinny so we were able to fi... We visited the Tangerine about a month ago. We have been busy since then and now have a chance to post our review. Our return to the Tangerine was an overall success with just a few difficulties. We have been at this resort 8 times for Mary and 4 times for me. We continue to come back here because we have found a special place and are never disappointed upon returning. The grounds, staff and food were great. Richardo and Rueben in the buffet made each meal they worked at a real treat. They added... Read more

My family and I recently stayed in tangerine hotel cabarete for a few weeks and it was really nice! We had food included and the staff was great. The best part of our stay was going on a few tours with a company located in center cabarete across from the ice cream shop Bon with Arcoiris Tours! We booked with a guy named Mike. I would recommend going there instead of the hotel because the hotel charges triple the price for the same tours! I strongly recommend this hotel for the stay and if you an... Read more

We had a family trip of 12 days.. The resort grounds are beautiful. Rooms are very dated, but I hear they are shutting down to update. The food was great, especially the pizza. The drinks where not very strong, if a half bottle of rum was in it you still couldn't catch a buzz. My biggest peave with this resort was the vendors on the beach!!!! The are there 7 days a week, constantly hounding you to buy... and they rip you off in price so much 300% ... go to the gift shop across the street from t... Read more

When we first arrived didn't find the lobby people friendly they were whatever, brushed it off. The room was more of a 3 star, looking kind of run down but clean. The rooms were not ready when we arrived but we were told enjoy the grounds while we waited and they kept our luggage in a safe place. The beach is gorgeous best to go in the AM as around 2-4 becomes very windy hence the millions of kite surfers filling the ocean. I appreciated the hotel more near the middle of the trip. I travelled to Puerto Plata with my friend, his sister and her son earlier this month. In the beginning, we just had minor issues with the room. The phone didn't work in one room and took long to fix the problem and then the other room where my friend's sister was staying, the phone stopped working and water kept dripping from the ceiling in the washroom while the A/C was on. We were all enjoying the food and then on the second day, my friend got diarrhea so bad he had to see the Doctor on the ... Read more

I traveled with my mom and sister for 6 days to Viva Wyndham Tangerine. We would recommend the resort to anyone and enjoyed our trip very much. We are from the U.S. and felt that the resort had a European feel to it, and many of the other guests were from Germany, Holland, etc. The rooms didn't have many amenities (no space to put your stuff in the bathroom, beds weren't very comfortable) so you just need to be aware that it will feel more like a European boutique hotel than a Hilton in New York... Things I want to share have been pretty much said so I'll go with some tips and a couple of remarks: -Complain if something is not right. Insist. That is how we changed our rooms which at first were very disappointing. -There were gracious enough to extend our check out time. -Go if you are into kite surf. They seemed to have lots of fun since there is so much wind. Very unpleasant though to be at the beach in the afternoons because of the wind. -Do not expect nice late night shows as they are... Upon arrival to this resort, we were greeted by the people at the front desk and had our luggage taken by the helpful bellhop. We stayed at this resort for 10 days and almost everything was amazing. We only had a few complaints that were small but should be mentioned, there was a sewage smell because of the watering of the grounds, the wind was very strong and the safe was not included ($2 charge per day). These were minor in comparison to all the positive aspects. The grounds were well maintain... Read more

Visited this lovely hotel with my family and loved everyday. We found rooms to be comfy airy and clean with enough space when the other part of our group popped in. Staff were always happy to help or just chat and we all felt welcomed. Drinks weren't as strong as some hotels I've stayed at but its not boasting a 5* rating..
