5/5 stars for this place. This trip was everything I wished for. The beaches, pools, food & nightly entertained was phenomenal. The highlight of this trip was the boys we met working at the pool. Julio nice was one of the best, always keeping my family and I entertained, and making us feel as if we were at home. I highly recommend this trip if you are looking to a have a good time with family & friends.

This was my third trip to Lifestyles resorts in Puerto Plata within the past two years. These Lifestyles resorts always exceed my expectations - and then some. The staff is always friendly and helpful and genuinely wants you to have a great time. For anyone with complaints, I cannot imagine what they might be. There is something for everyone here! There are ample buffets and restaurants with a wide variety of selections to choose from. I especially look forward to and enjoy the Indochine for a ... Read more

This review will be very vague because it has been quite a few years since I traveled here but from what I remember it was an affordable and nice trip. Our room was garden view, it was nice, it wasn't huge or romantic in anyway. But it served its purpose. The hotel is located on very steep terrain so expect to climb and descend many stairs. The food was great, I especially loved the breakfast buffet. The beach was okay but I would say the pools were the highlight. Lots of different pools to expl... Read more

Averageee, basic room, basic staff. Place is too big to make you feel welcome. It's all about your wristband, if it's not gold, you're not important. Shame because it really does have nice grounds! Pools, beach cabanas etc.

So‚?¶I am not a HUGE fan of all-inclusive resorts. I sometimes feel they are the pseudo islands of the real island visited. They often entertain you, just enough, so that you will not want to venture away from the world they have created for you. I must say, however, that I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Tropical. I‚??ll start with the pros, listing them in order of importance and end with the cons, which are just listed. #1 THE PEOPLE ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe they are what made this t... Read more

I was really skeptical of this place after seeing all the reviews on here, but I had a great time. This is not a 5 star resort, so don't expect that type of service. The pools and the beach were clean. The bars kept the drinks coming. My room was clean and the King size bed was a nice bonus. I was able to stay here for $50 a night and I will def. be back (Just remember, you get what you pay for) . The food in the main dinning area was good but you will get tired of eating the same thing if you ... Read more

It was one of the worst resorts I ever be in at . If you're not a member of lifestyle timeshare then he will be very discriminated . They won't let you acces bunch of places at the resort . Vendors will Hara see you from day one trying to show you the property and convinced to be a member of lifestyle . They don't take no as an answer . Shuttles to take you from place to place are always packed and there's a mess so people jump like monkeys . Hard to get a reservation to " a la carte" restau... Read more

Stayed at the Tropical June 24 to July 1st. The resort is very large and well maintained with many bars and pools. The rooms at the Tropical are a little out dated but I like to stay there because it is close to everything. On the weekends, the locals come. That's when you find that the buffet becomes a free for all with people cutting in front of you and the food supply going quickly. I suggest that you should make a reservation at one of the restaurants on the weekends to avoid the aggravatio... Read more

Let me start my saying this is our 2 trip to Tropical. We first went in March 2015. We were even considering buying. What a difference a year makes! The resort is in desperate need of repair! Building 1 is a nightmare! AC turns off for hours all day and all night. No cold water in shower! Hot scalding water! Toilet empty out in morning from 7:00am till 8:30am. Couldn't use! Window in bathrooms were broken! Let hot air in room! After much pleading, change rooms! 2nd room, air work b... Read more

If you don't want to read the full review, here is the brief summary: I do not recommend going here because the employees do not seem to care you are there. You can find the same amenities elsewhere and not feel like an unwelcome outsider. Aside form one or two employees, the workers seemed to dislike Americans, they did not care to help us, and they even lied to us about what room we could stay in (We didn't get what was promised). Here is a small list of what happened to us, and why we will ... Read more

This was my second year coming to stay at the LHVR, I booked through groupon and was giving a certain level of V.I.P. (I booked the same way last year, but this year the V.I.P. was more exclusive.) The food is not as good as other resorts I've stayed at and their late night food menu sucks only burgers and hot dogs available after 11pm, a few vendors on the beach but not overwhelming and they have never been offensive but quite helpful at times. They have a nice little night club on the resort, ... Read more

We went here with part of a timeshare so the price for the week was more then reasonable. The resort picks you up from the airport, but once you get to the check-in desk things become a bit disorganized. There was a bit of a language barrier, but we got it all worked out. If what you want is a relaxing week by the water, this is the place for you. The drinks are exactly what you would expect at an all inclusive resort, as was the food. There wasn't anything amazing about food or drinks, but for ... Read more

Beautiful place to visit!!! I enjoyed the shows and nightlife that this resort offered. Unfortunately, I'm not totally pet friendly that I enjoyed the cats hanging around even inside the outdoor restaurants;( Also with the resort being so huge I was separated from the others girls and the shuttle transportation was not the best(no air and long waiting lines)

The biggest asset in these resorts are the employees! Everyone from the housekeeper to the servers, front desk agents, bellman, animation, drivers etc... Will make your experience to be enjoyable and memorable! So thank you for providing a genuine service in your roles to each guest!! As a tip i would recommend to have better control of mosquitos in open air areas of the property and bedrooms are in need of an upgrade! Overall we had a nice family vacation!

The staff at TLHV made the experience a great one. So helpful and eager to share information and greeted you with a smile. Being a non Spanish speaker was not a problem. To enjoy all the resort has to offer, choose to upgrade. If you limit time to excursions, the basic package will due.

Let me first start out by saying if you are a Lifestyle member your experience will likely my much better than mine. We traveled to the Lifestyle Resirt in Puerto Plata as an Interval International member. When arriving at the POP airport we were greeted by the transportation staff and taken to our bus, we had to wait on the bus for an hour to wait for everyone else that was taking the same bus to the resort. I would recommend taking a taxi to the resort, it will save you tons of time. Once our ... Read more

This place advertises that it's a high end resort and luxurious but it's far from that. We went for a wedding and paid for the VIP services for a 4 day trip which cost about $1200 for two just for our stay. There's no ac in the lobby and no ac in most of there restaurants. The place is invested if horse flies especially in the restaurant areas. The flies are all over the food and you once you sit down to eat. If you're worried about Zika you're surrounded by flies, I barely ate from the buffets ... Read more

On the idyllic island of the Dominican Republic we have had a fantastic holiday. The resort looks good and has left the countryside in value. Everywhere you find palm, mango and almond trees. The staff is really nice and attend. Especially the animation team (with Julio Nice) is great, they really involve you with games and dance! The (all-inclusive) food is good, but there is little variation after 2 weeks. Our room had a leaking airco, after a mention it was cleaned, but not fixed. Some of our... Read more

From Monday to Thursday this is a paradise haven of tranquility where you can relax on the swinging beds on the VIP beach whilst well mannered waiters bring you drinks. Then from Friday to Sunday they allow hundreds of noisy, rude, pushy, arrogant Dominicans in to destroy your vacation. It turns into a battlefield, the waiters become stressed and rude, you can't sleep at night because these people are so noisy and they absolutely do not care about anything at all except themselves.
