"check in not a problem, had to wait the usual time for a room, we requested the superior room renovated, got a ground floor room instead that was reeking mold amd mildew, toilet had a kitchen knife in it(thats right, a kitchen knife,). nasty sewage smell just outside the patio, the view was a large group of trees10 feet from our patio, we requested a move, but to no avail, nothing til the next day. next morning the knife was still in the toilet, (could not get anyone to remove it.)finally got move to a decent , clean room. maids. were excellent. grounds and beach were not well cared for, food was not bad but very repetitious, same ole every day, a la cartes were not worth the effort. shortage of juices, pop, and they actually ran out of rum for several hours one of the days, .i would rate this resort no more than a 2 and would never return p.s. staff , bartenders etc. were excellentand did the best they could with what they had to work with. rumour has it that this resort has been going downhill for some time and i believe it"

"Honestly, I've been to Puerto Plata a few times and this experience was by far the worst. Overall,l the hotel was ok. Some staff were very nice but others didnt care. The 'checkin' was ok until they couldn't give us the extra beds they promised. They even said that they Never offer extra beds. After haggling for 20 minutes and a sitdown with the manager, we got 2 extra beds on the floor. No pullout bed, no pull out sofa, just 2 mattresses on the Floor.
Aside from that,,the rooms were Ok to say the least. Most rooms had mold either in the room or bathroom, my bathroom lock didnt work, so no privacy. And we always had a shortage of bath towels. And room 1 never had a functional toilet. They had to use the other rooms bathroom.
Luckily it was a group of 11 and we all just wanted to enjoy our time off, So we held in the complaints. Would I stay there again, never. But we made the best of it.
Food was good but not the greatest, service good, and music on the premises was horrible. No authentic music just top 100 hits of the world. Barely any Spanish music."

" WHEN I GOT TO THE ROOM NOT EVEN A COFFEE MAKER, THE FRIDGE WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. AND THE DRINKS WERE EVEN WORST. I HAD TO GO OUTSIDE THE RESORT AND BUY MY OWN WHISKY. SO THAT I CAN ENJOY A LIL SOMETHING. THE BEDS ON THE BEACH WERE DIRTY AND THE MATTRESS IS LEATHER IN THE SUN! IN THE ROO, THE BED WAS DIRTY THE BATHROOMS RUN OUT OF WATER FOR NO REASON AT ALL. CAME BACK IN FIVE MINUTES. THERE ARE NO VARIETIES AT THE BUFFET. I ATE OUT OF THE RESORT THE WHOLE TIME AND DID A CHECK OUT A DAY EARLY. THIS WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE FOR ME AND MY HUSBAND. BUT IT HAS TO HAPPEN ONCE RIGHT? I WILL NOT BE RETURNIG TO THIS RESORT IN MY LIFE. AND PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR PURCHASE. THE STANDARD ROOM DOESNT LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THE PICTURE AND THE AC MADE ME SICK. THE ONLY THING THAT I ENJOYED IN MY TRIP WAS EATING OUTSIDE THE RESORT AND AN OUTSIDE EXCURSION OF A YACT."
