"Just got back, had a really nice time. The resort could definitely use some updating in the rooms, most of the walls have water damage and/or leak currently, and my closet had a puddle in it. But, you don't go there to sit in the room, so it was fine. The buffet food was decent, not great, but you could always fine something to eat. The a la carte places needed reservations even though they were always empty, but the food at them was much better than the buffet, so worth it. The pool was very nice, they set up volleyball every afternoon and had some other activities going on, too. They had board with activities listed, but most of the activities never materialized. The beaches are all government property so you can and will be pestered by locals selling their crap. If you put on sunglasses and pretend to be asleep they live you alone, and if you give them a firm 'no' they leave you alone after the first day. Beautiful views from the beach. There was nightly entertainment, some of it better than others. The first couple nights the dancers looked like a bad high school talent show, and one of them thought that bellydance = stripper, which was embarrassing to anyone or Arabic decent I'm sure, and to me, as a dancer who knows better. The other acts were a LOT better though, and in any case, it was entertaining, at least. I thought the staff was out of sight, went above and beyond to try to keep you happy and entertained. Everyone was friendly and jumped at the chance to make you feel welcomed. A friend of mine visited the spa and said don't bother, but I didn't experience it personally. The only bummer is that in the event of rain, there's hardly anything to do at all since everything is outside. FOR THE PRICE you pay for this resort, I thought it was worth it. Had the price been higher I would say the value I gave the place would go down, but for the price attached to this experience, I would say it is definitely worth the trip. If you expect golden faucets and filet minon at the buffet, don't go to a place that charges $80/night. We stayed for six days."

"My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the resort. Food was ok. Room was ok. Nothing spectacular but overall nice. We has a standard room and the ceiling fan did not work. We actually changed rooms on our last night and the ceiling fan didn't work in that room either. We just decided that they were just for decoration...lol. My husband did enjoy the fact that he could windsurf for the small fee of only $5, which included a lesson."

"My husband and I truly enjoyed ourselves. The staff was friendly and catering to any of our needs. We went on only 2 excursions but they were awesome. We took the Monster Buggies excursion and took a cab through the hotel to drive around the city of Punta Cana. The buggy ride was so exciting and worth the price. I just suggest for this tour do not wear anything to fancy because you do get dirty also bring a small amount of cash so you can buy the local children some sweets and maybe get a water yourself. The Tour Guides were kind and very attentive. As for the cab tour it was very nice to see the history of their country also you see some of the beautiful sites the country has to offer. The food at the buffet was excellent as well as the staff. As for the beach it was well kept, the food was excellent especially the fried chicken and black beans. The bartenders were very polite and was truly ready for all orders. Angelo the bartender was excellent and was aware of what drinks suit you to your liking. The truly only complaint that we had was that the standard rooms pillows need to be upgraded. They were lumpy and quite flat. Also the locals are always trying to sell you items , just be polite and patient because everyone has bills to pay. Overall this trip was worth every penny and my husband and I are already planning to go next year."

"This was a get what you pay for type of deals. I was assured that this was one of the better resorts in Playa Dorda, so I booked here. as pulling up I was hoping this was not the place I booked and sure enough it was, but once I got to the resort loby I quickly change me opinion. The rooms are pretty standard. The resort grounds are very clean kept. Everywhere you look there was friendly staff waiting to greet you and help an anyway. I had a hot water issues, but was address very quickly."

"Overall, the hotel was great. The property is well taken care of, the staff members are friendly, the rooms are very clean and tropical. During our welcome reception we were advised the in-room bar can be replensihed with soft drinks/water as needed; however, when we called the following day we were informed there was charge to bring extra soft drinks. Upon checking into our room, the AC was not working, There was a problem with the generator but fortunately, the problem was corrected by the late evening. The next day we were given a fruit platter and a bottle of Brugal for the inconvience- nice touch! The only thing I would change about the hotel would be the entertainment. I travel to DR often and like staying in the all-inclusive resorts. Blue Bay lacked the entertainment the other properties offer. Being an Adult-only hotel was nice; however as a group of singles the other guests were all couples which didn't make for much conversation with others unless they were staff.rnrnAgain, the hotel was great. The only thing I would change would be the entertainment."

"WENT TO PUERTO PLATA OVER FOR THE LONG WEEKEND DUE TO MEMORIAL DAY. UNFORTUNATELY THE HOTEL WAS NOT AS I EXPECTED IT. THE 4 STAR RATING SHOULD REALLY BE A 1. THE ROOMS WERE DETERIORATED. THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE, THE STAFF WAS NOT NICE, ETC. rnI DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR A NICE HOTEL IN PUERTO PLATA AND ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE BEEN CHARGED FOR A 4 STAR HOTEL. "SO excited to get to the Dominican Republic! SO let down by this motel! Overall, the experience was OK because we REFUSED to ruin our whole vacation griping and moving from room to room! On arrival, the room we were put in was FILTHY. We had to WAIT for it to be cleaned again and were very CLEAR on how they did NOT like that! It still wasn't cleaned properly. Things and dirt were in the corners and the bathroom tiles were broken. Had to BEG for towels and for the bar to be 'STOCKED'. (Two bottles of WARM beer and one coke and one sprite!) EVERYDAY we had to BEG for towels!!! All-inclusive: well, you definitely won't get your money's worth, because the staff simply does NOT care that you would like more than ONE drink an hour! We felt like we had to constantly ASK, ASK, ASK! The main buffet was really good. Lots of variety. Al carte restaurants: we had two that came with our package and had to BEG for a reservation as well. We were told that they were ALL BOOKED UP! Ummm...NO, there were plenty of seats OPEN! THEY did NOT want a full dining room! Unreal!!! To be fair, the food was ok and the entertainment was good! We enjoyed ourselves as long as we stayed out of the room. No, we would not stay here again, even if it was FREE! Good luck to anyone that books this place. Also, BEWARE of the pool in the back. SHARP edges everywhere! I cut my leg INSIDE the pool! Tiles are falling and cracking out of this area as well. NEEDS updating for sure! GOOD LUCK!"

"The resort was very clean and the staff was friendly. The sevice was not very good. I had to ask four times to have my mini bar filled. The food was horable. I often ate out at nearby restaurants. The resort is very small and you only had two spots to eat at. I thought it was a plus that it was adults only, but thier were a lot of old people there which that might be a plus for some, for me it was very borring. I will not visit this resort again."

"My boyfriend and I stayed for 5 days and 4 nights. The best part of this hotel is the lobby! Other than that, nothing seemed to awe us. Everyone seemed to have a different package deal with the hotel and based on your 'bracelet' (how much you spent), that's how they give you amenities. For example, if you had a basic package then they give you a clear band which gives you only two 'a la carte' meals while others got more, you did not receive a free welcome fruit basket, you got a room that is very bare and not at all comfortable. The room was the worst part of the whole trip. We did not have a television, the toilet kept overflowing every time it rained, the cleaning lady cleaned our room in the evening (rather than normal morning/afternoon hours), the blow dryer was awful, and the bed was broken! I had to call the front desk numerous times to alleviate the situtation. Sometimes they didn't even answer so I had to go in person to fix the problem. Another down side was that the food was very disappointing! We were looking forward to food with flavor and spice but did not receive either one of those. Other than the negatives, the entertainment staff was awesome. They made sure we had a good time. The pool area was fun and calming at the same time but the beach had too many timeshare guys and other people trying to sell things that we didn't want. We made the most of our trip and it was a good experience but I would not stay at this hotel again. it is a beautiful city and the hotel doesn't reflect any of that in its food or amentities. I feel like the hotel should offer everyone the same type of amenities to their guests and not base everything on a bracelet. If I had known that was the case then I would have paid more to get a better package which would have allowed me to wear a more valued bracelet that they give you. If you plan on staying at this hotel, book a lot of activities so that you don't have to be at the hotel too much. That's what we did to really enjoy ourselves!"

"My fiance and I stayed two weeks ago. Overall, we had a good experience but were disappointed that it being an Adult only resort, they lacked in service. I travel to the Dominican Republic all the time, sometimes twice a year. I realize that the all inclusives (unless you pay more) always have bottom of shelf liquor. This resort, however, had bottom of the bottom of the shelf. Usually at these resorts they use Normandy liquor, this place had Royal. Something I have never heard of and really disgusting. My fiance and I went to the plaza to purchase real liquor to keep in the room. The hotel did not provide champagne either, unless it was purchased, which was a first for me in any resort, much less an adult only. We also had to go purchase champagne to bring along to the dinner because a bottle of freixeinet that we purchase in the US for about $14 they were selling for about $30. Also would have liked more entertainment geared towards adults! The shows were cute, but kind of boring. We were there for Good Friday and they were playing the Passion of Christ in the main show area. (like really?!?!) The snack bar by the beach had the same food EVERY day. some variety would have been nice. The main buffet was great as well as the A La carte restaurants. Most of the staff went out of their way to cater to us especially, Roque (bartender) who made some great mojitos and Frances (from seafood restaurant) who went above and beyond in service. Other than that the resort was nice, definitely could be better and it wouldn't take that much to improve. Better liquor, better activities for adults, maybe some parties on site, some extra touches like poolside cocktail services (pool area not that huge, can be done), better decor in rooms (they were clean though), and that's it. Overall a good experience. and would probably go back for the right price. Easter week kind of pricey."

"Paid extra for a superior room and it was just like the standard rooms. Spoke to the manager and nothing was done. Food was okay. Staff were constantly trying to sell you a membership to the resort. The vendors on the beach were relentless with trying to sell you something. We wanted a place to relax and all we got was bothered."

"My girlfriend and I had a great time at this resort. The food was actually pretty good and plenty of bars around the area. All the staff were friendly and extremely accommodating. Our room was kept clean and nothing was stolen (I've heard horror stories from other resorts). The things that could be improved on are: -The drinks are pretty terrible and use bottom shelf liquor. -The vendors trying to sell mostly useless things on the beach come up to you every 2 minutes and try to sell you something. -There is not much of a nightlife. For the last night, I paid for a romantic dinner on the beach and I fully recommend it. For $150USD, you get your own table on the beach lit up with candles and accented with flowers. It looked like something from a movie and we felt like celebrities. Included in the price is a bottle of wine, a bottle of champagne, delicious salad w/shrimp, soup, sorbet, either steak or lobster, and dessert. They really go out of their way to make you feel special..."

"I spent a week with my friend (last week in March 2013) People are very friendly (more friendly when you leave some tip on the table). Food was good and diversified ( no need to eat in the three Restaurants, Fish, Steak and Chinese)
The only think I have to complain is the cleanliness in the room. They forgot to towels in the room. The floor didn't look like that somebody clean it. What a shame because everything around the Resort floors in the eating area a clean.

"This is my second attempt at contacting any Managers and/or Supervisors at BOOKIT re my Horrible trip to BlueBay Villas in the Dominican Republic. My best friend has also given her accountability to your office via email and we have not received any response via email or by telephone regarding our trip.
Rose and I arrived at SFO Int'l Airport 2 hours early to have the baggage attendant tell us that our luggage was not carryon. Rose purchased a small carryon from Target the week before and the height "was... completely appropriate as mine was. In order not to stress ourselves out at the beginning of "what we thought was going to be a fabulous vacation... trip of a life time.
Please find my account of events of what we experienced during our 9 days of what I can only describe as being held hostage in the Dominican Republic and PAYING FOR IT!!! $1,370.96
1. First Leg out of San Francisco International Airport:
Once on the flight, there were luggage in the overhead bins that were exceeding carryon size and larger than our bags that we were basically forced to check. We took our flight to Dallas, Fort Worth ["DFW...] for our first transfer to Miami, Fl. and the flight coming in from South America was over an hour late, putting us in immediate jeopardy to miss our connecting flight in Miami. We knew that we had a window of 50 minutes on our original itinerary to connect to our flight to the Dominican Republic, Puerto Plata. The flight in DFW literally landed 10 minutes before its scheduled take-off to Miami. We are now beginning our vacation under duress! When we finally landed in Miami, it was at 11:44 a.m., standing and waiting for the gate to connect and the doors to open everyone was completely up in arms about missing their connecting flights. I asked the Flight Attendant how far was gate D41 from our current gate of D3, he stated "it is a Long, Long, Long way and I do not believe that you two can make it... he then said talk to the attendants at the gate station D3 to determine if they can do anything for us.
2. Second Leg out of Dallas, Fort Worth on a late, late take off:
We disembarked into Miami and immediately ask them if we can take the next flight and they stated "I'm sorry, there is only 1 flight a day to the DR, Puerto Plata.... I was sick to my stomach. We then said call the gate we will run and they said Good Luck!
3. Third Leg Patricia and Rose Running at High Speed through Miami Airport:
Rose and I literally had to run a mini Marathon through Miami Airport to make that flight, we ran for a solid 6 minutes ["I do not know if you have ever ran for 6 minutes at the age of 51years-old, which I am and Rose is 44 years-old and I have not ran since College 30 years ago!...] we stopped once to catch our breath and she asked how much time and the plane literally was scheduled to leave at 12 Noon, we had just minutes till take off and we were only at Gate D16 or 18 I am not quite sure. I said not enough and to stop start running. We continued to run, and literally ran down an extremely long escalator, and then we both had to jump over a man's luggage almost at the bottom and ran till we found the tram train. I have never been so crazed running through an airport with a large bag on my shoulders ["I am sure if you looked at the Airport Security footage you would not believe it, I still do not...] the Tram Train took 3 minutes and the Airport employee told us which way to run to make it to the gate and believe me it was not simple directions at Miami Airport. All of this adding to my already existing High Blood Pressure and also to Rose's Heart condition. We started running again and Rose's calf started cramping up on her at gate D32 and she yelled just go and stop the plane. I had to keep running this tormenting marathon to stop the plane and I made it there in 11 minutes flat at the age of 51 years-old. When I ran up to the counter they said my name and all I could do was raise my hand, I could not even respond due to lack of oxygen. She immediately said in the microphone to the other gate "They just arrived..., Rose came hobbling up about 2 to 3 minutes later and we boarded.
4. We arrived in Puerto Plata without Luggage
We arrived at the Airport and waited until everyone walked away with their luggage and we did not have anything but the hot sweaty cloths that we are wearing for a full day, so we went to the office and reported that our luggage did make the flight and that we needed it delivered to the BlueBay resort. The American Airlines attendant took our information and assured us that our luggage would be delivered tomorrow in about 25 hours from now.
5. When we arrived at the BlueBay Resort
We were greeted by the front desk and we stated that our luggage was not on our flight and asked if we could be given Toothbrushes/Toothpaste so we could at least freshen up. The front desk stated that it was not their policy to accommodate Toothbrush/Toothpaste to guests that were "not VIP.... We could not believe this. We then asked to be taken to our room so we could at least wash our faces.
6. Our Superior Deluxe Room - All-Inclusive
When we were taken to our room, it was no less than a Horror Story. The room had bare walls, no couch, no pictures or Lush accommodations that were shown in the picture on your website. This was large empty room with two beds pushed together and this was supposed to accommodate 3 persons. Thank god our other girlfriend was not able to make it, it was truly horrible.
7. We were sent to the Plaza next door to buy items we needed
Rose and I walked in the 100 degree heat to the plaza next door in order to buy any cloths so we could change after being in our cloths for almost 24 hours and they were "extremely sweaty.... The Plaza was "over priced... and everything we needed was at an extremely high price. I bought a Sun Dress, a short one that cost over $40, flip flop sandals which cost an additional $15 and a bathing suit that cost $45 on sale. Rose's bathing suit alone was $95 and she can correct me if I am wrong. American Airlines said that they would only reimburse us "$25 a Day.... Can you believe that we had to spend money on items we did not need.
8. Once we returned to our room
I tried to use the Blow dryer and it did not work, we had to call the front desk to have maintenance come and fix it. While we were on the phone, we inquired about the in-room safe and was told we need to come to the Front desk and pay for this with a credit card for however many days that we may need it. Needless to say they repaired the Blow dryer.
9. Rose and I paid for the safe
And went back to our room, this was late that night and we tried to follow the instructions and it would not work. I called the front desk and they gave us instructions over the phone and it still would not work; so the maintenance guy came over and took out a electronic box to reconfigure the safe for it to work properly. We were hoping that everything would be fine from then on.
10. The next day about 4:30pm our luggage arrived
Rose and I took our luggage to our rooms and started to unpack, we were happy to have clean cloths and both of my High Blood pressure medications were in my bag and I needed to take them on that first day, but could not. As well as Rose's heart medication which was upsetting her for the first 25 hours of not having it when she needed to take it on that day of arrival, as well.
11. We were then ambushed by the Time Share guys
Which I made it very clear that we were on vacation and did not need this. Does Bookit have these people at all of your resorts? I am extremely curious as this happened last year when I used Bookit for Temptation in Cabo San Lucas, which by the way/ the picture on site looked exactly like the room I paid for.
12. When I returned to the Front Desk, specifically Guest desk
I first wanted to ask about the $20 USD towards Spa treatments. They Immediately told me that this was not included in our package and that they had no idea what I was referring too. Yet this is still on your site which I just went to again today November 7, 2011

%u2022 No Fruit basket, I had to ask LITERALLY "2... TIMES!;
%u2022 No 20 USD Spa Credit (they literally laughed in my face about this);
%u2022 No Terrace or Balcony which I requested and PAID for!;
%u2022 1 Broken Safe after paying for it; they fixed it the next day;
%u2022 1 Broken Hair Dryer, they actually "replaced it...;
%u2022 NO COMPLIMENTARY ROBS and SLIPPERS "even after asking for them 3 times...;
%u2022 No Fresh Beach towels daily in room;
%u2022 Daily fresh towels we had to call "every morning... about towels
13. These rooms were not comfortable, it was like a vacant somewhat clean storage facility that needed a paint job as well as furniture and smelled extremely bad ("See pictures attached...). This was a complete disaster of a resort. All of the rooms that were not VIP looked like a hotel in an impoverished part of town. I was extremely horrified and when I complained they told me this is exactly what was advertised and then I showed them a copy of the printout of the picture that was on the net and told them that this is not what I paid for, the picture is what I paid for. She had no explanation and said that they only had upgrades to the VIP rooms which we were not a member of. Also, the TV in the room had to date back to the late 70s, this was just a joke.
I showed the picture to several of the other people on vacation and the ones that had the VIP room showed us that their rooms looked like the photo. BOOKIT completely LIED on your website with the picture of the VIP room stating that this is what I was getting for my Birthday vacation in the Dominican Republic listed under Superior Deluxe Room.
14. Room Keys
When arriving back to our room on the 2nd night, our Key cards did not work. I tried mine first and Rose tried hers. Please be aware that our Key cards did not work on 4 separate occasions. Each time when we were coming back late from dinner or after dinner drinks. They kept stating that it was probably because we had the cards next to our phones. I stated that my phone and electronics were all locked up in the safe for the duration of our vacation. Again they had "no explanation... AGAIN!
15. On our 3rd night, Saturday, October 8, 2011 "Day 3 out of 9...
We arrived back to our room to take a shower and make our dinner reservations. Rose immediately stated that the Bathroom, specifically the Toilet was not flushing. The paper was just swirling so we "AGAIN... called the Front Desk. The maintenance guy came out and immediately starting working on the Toilet. He was plunging and banging, and then he went into the "SHOWER..., at this point we are both looking at him plunging our shower and then he whipped it up with toilet paper and said everything was working ("Are you kidding me, he just plunged our shower...), he walked out.
I was waiting to use the bathroom and when I did immediately after he left it was "still broken..., and then I noticed it starting backing up into our shower and filling up.
I immediately called the Front Desk and they moved us to the room next door, Identical to the horrible room we were just in.
16. We were completely in Shock over this and tried to settle in
But the smell hit us both before crossing the threshold. The room smelled like it had not been cleaned in months; it smelled like old tennis shoes and sweat, god awful!!! It was horrible and the guy said "we will have someone come over and spray.... I could not believe this was happening. Rose went into the bathroom and came out saying Oh My God, come look at this. The bathroom smelled as if someone vomited and just whipped it up but did not deodorize the bathroom. There were "Dried Dripping stains... on the wall behind the door where someone had gotten sick and it was never cleaned up and it literally made us both gag. I again called the Front Desk complaining about this and she said that they did not have any more "regular rooms... available and they had nowhere else to put us. I was extremely upset with Bookit and BlueBay at this point. We had to leave the door wide open, the maid came in with a Supervisor later and cleaned for .30 minutes and the room still smelled for the remainder of our stay. THIS WAS A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE RESORT!!!
If anything went wrong with the resort, the staff would try to explain it by saying that we did something wrong. I was ready to come home after 5 days of hell and had to stay for the full 9 days, we were literally held hostage at that resort.
17. The rooms had a 2 full inch opening at the bottom of the front door
Rose and I were being eaten alive by the mosquitoes. This resort did not spray, it was completely infested with Mosquitoes and everyone was constantly complaining about being bitten all day and night long. We did not notice the opening at the bottom of our door until the 6th day and you will note in the picture that there is a towel at the bottom of the door to keep out the mosquitoes at night. Rose acquired 9 bites on one leg alone during 1 night, not to mention the rest of her and me on those nights. We are still trying to recover from all of the bug bites which no doubt has left scars on both of us. My right thigh above my knee acquired over 30 bites and they are not fading fast at all to date it looks like a skin disorder ("I will send you a picture if you need proof...). Her bites were really horrible on her calves and we wear dresses for work every day in our law firms.
I am sure that Rose can add additional problems such as the Resort running out of certain foods and drinks after 3 days. This was the worst trip of my 'Entire Life' that I paid $1,370.96 during a recession in this economy.
I am expecting BOOKIT to make full reparation for this vacation, we were sold a vacation that did not give us "ANYTHING... that we were promised or that we purchased, the only thing we received was grief and aggravation for 9 Full Days. I am attaching the pictures of our room to the resort.
I am truly upset for that fact that I spent 1 year saving for this vacation, in spite of all of my other financial obligations I took my extra spending money and saved for this Horror Vacation from Bookit. The part that really turns my stomach is that I was told by your agent Larry CCS Brunson %u2013 5179, he stated on more than one occasion that one of your employees just returned from BlueBay and "RAVED... about the property how beautiful it was and the rooms were all fabulous. That was complete and utter crap! I booked a Balcony, we had 1 chair with a cheap round metal table to the left of our front door. There was no private balcony.
Per my conversation with Sabrina May of Bookit.com, she ask that I send her the email that I wanted forwarded to a Manager in your office. It has the pictures of the Horrible room and how it looked from all angles for almost $1,400 for 9 days. This was a complete travesty in R&R.
I will be waiting to hear from Management regarding how Bookit is going to make FULL reparation re this so-called vacation. I will wait to speak with your office before posting this complete and accurate account of my vacation with photos of mine and Rose's account of how Bookit sent us on a vacation from Hell on every site I can possibly think of starting with FACEBOOK, Yelp, etc/ I will also talk off the record with one of our attorneys just in case you try to avoid any type of compensation re this fraudulent vacation."

"We did not get a 'Superior Quality Guest Room' as promised and paid for; neither did we receive the promised gifts upon arrival; nor did we have our beach towels replaced daily as promised. The television remote wasn't working upon arrival (to their credit - it was replaced immediately). When we complained about the room, we received a lame excuse, but we couldn't be bothered to persist. Two days after our complaint, a basked of fruit was delivered to the room. The overall experience though was more than satisfactory and we would stay there again."

"Went with 2 friends last week and had a fantastic time. If you are looking for a more active hotel. This is not the one. Because its mostly couples and senior citizens it is more laid back. The rooms were clean, did take us 2 days to figure out the air condition ran by the key card. The beach had a constant breeze so it was great to lay out. Only down side would be the people constantly bother you on the beach to buy things(they are very friendly though).
Getting prices again to go back in March...can't wait!!!"

My overall experience was good :) I am very happy that my girlfriends and I decided to stay at the resort. We stayed for seven days and ventured all over the area.
The staff will try to accommodate you as much as possible. The animation team has activities scheduled throughout the day, so you will never be bored if you do not want to go to the beach or the pool.
A little note about the resort, for the most part the resort is very clean. The beach/pool towels that you are provided with are exchanged once a day; typically at night, however you can exchange them during the day at the activity cabin near the beach. Sometimes you will have to wait for the staff to bring them to you.
As mentioned by someone before, the resort is adult only and for the most part you have couples and older folks. However, no matter your age you will still be able to enjoy the resort.
The beach is nice, however the sharks on two legs can get a little annoying. Just say, no thank you and they will leave you alone. They will try to sell you everything from statues to clothes. They are a total rip off. Also don`t book any activities from the vendors on the beach because they are not insured. You book those activities at your own risk.
My suggestions for activates outside the resorts are horseback riding, monkey jungle (includes zip lines) and the catamaran. They were an awesome experience, tons of fun and at great prices.
If you think of buying souvenirs or alcohol, I would suggest buying them at the airport. There is a nice selection of everything and a lot cheaper than any place that we visited while at Puerto Plata. As for the Alcohol, the duty free has awesome prices, especially on local rum. Flying back to the US, the duty free store will sell up to 5 bottles of alcohol per person.

"This is a great place for people above 35. If your in your twenties, you will find that most people staying here are just married couples or senior citizens. However, clubs and casinos are close by and they do attract a younger crowd. I highly recommend taking a tour into the Campos and going Waterfall hiking. It's a once in a life time experience."

"I'll start off with the positive aspects of my experience. The wait staff was incredible. Very attentive, very hospitable and really interacted with our visiting group. The beach private beach was incredible and the 24 hour snack bar was conveniently situated in front of the beach. They had nightly entertainment and around the clock bars. The buffet and restaurant food was excellent.
Now the negative, the rooms electricity, A/C and water and key controlled. We came in tired from our long flight to a HOT room with no electricity/ took us a while till we could figure out how to work the key to turn on the electricity and water. The pool is only open till 6PM and we got kicked out of it EXACTLY at 6PM. The bed was hard with lumpy pillows. The buffet is open in short spurts, and we did get kicked out several times exactly when the buffet closed/ even if we were already seated and still eating. The hotel is catered more to couples, and not to singles.

"The staff at this hotel was excellent! The food quality was pretty decent. I was bummed out that the pool closed at 6pm. If you gave the cleaning/ maid service tips you will have better service.
My trip to Paradise Island was beautiful!"

" The rooms were old. The lights did not work, the phone did not work either. The power kept going off so the we had to reset our clocks all the time. They would not give you extra towels if you asked them. The pool closed by 630pm stating that they need to clean the pool at that time. The food was just basic. It would be hit or miss if one night was good the other night was awful. They would only let you eat at one restaurant per stay. The late night snacks were only fried chicken and fries. One of the staff was really rude. She would not let us in to eat cause we were wearing a tank top and shorts. Who dresses up fancy to eat at a buffet??? I honestly would not go back to this hotel every again. "

"Well, let me start by saying We have been on 6 all -inclusive trips since 6/2009, this being the latest. The rooms were VERY tiny, it reminded my of a motel 6, the good first then. the landscape, amazing, the beach awesome,the food was great, there was never any trouble getting drinks at the bars, thetowel exchange system worked well except weekends (you leave your wet towel on your balcony or in your room in the evening and the maid service changed it out), the staff for the most part was above great. Now the bad, there was only one thing at a time going on, so if you wanted to play volleyball while the other games were going on, no luck, if you wanted to swim while the show was going on, sorry the pool is closed, very frustrating for a week long stay. our room overlooked the pool, even if we didn't want the show at night ,to bad it was right there keeping you up. the vendors on the beach, you just had to tell them over and over no no no no, we made great deals by offering extremely low prices and 3 days later the same guy would come back and get close enough to our price we would buy. we did enjoy it, but it's doubtful I would ever go back. I could go on about tours and taxi's but they were not the problem of the resort, but of the 'pitiful me' mentality we ran into. I hope this is helpful."

"Pros:
Beautiful property, well kept.
Great staff and sevice. Everyone was very friendly, always cheerful and helpful.
The food was good. Most all-inclusive buffets don't offer much options and the options are very limiting. Bluebay did a great job with the food. The fish is one of the best I've ever had.
Cons:
The men in the yellow shirts trying to sell you time shares. They were really persistant and relentless. Unless you are interested in signing up for a timeshare vacation, do not go into their office because they will hold you up in talking about deals and prices. We were there for over 1.5hours...really annoying when you are trying to have a relaxing vacation.
The beds are really hard.
Towel service sucks.

"Went for a family trip(all adults) this past August. Had the best vacation ever. The staff at Blue Bay is outstanding, the rooms and food were great. Lots of trips to take to the surrounding areas. Paradise Island trip the best!! Would definitely want to go back to finish seeing all we didn't during our 5 nights. Better than a cruise."
