"My husband and I just got back from our trip to wonderful La Romana. We stayed at the Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach resort for four nights five days. We got a bungalow. The trip was amazing! The check in was easy and very friendly, the bungalow was wonderful. The restaurant were all amazing. The pool and the beach were all clean and very very beautiful. The staff there but enough English for us to understand them and communicate with them. I would definitely recommend that excursion. It's $74 it's an all-day excursion and you get to see the good and beautiful part of the country. That De Chavon river is gorgeous and it's part of the excursion. There was plenty to do! I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone and would love to go back one day :) Enjoy!!!"

"Just returned from viva Romano ,DR .We had a great time.We took one of the above recommendations and tipped from the beginning .The employees gave us great service all the time .overall resort was clean and maintained .The entertainment staff always had something going on.nDisapointed that 2 of the restaurants stated were not there any longer .Which should have been taken out of their brochure.nThey do cater more to the European clients. "THIS WAS THE WORST HOTEL EVER. TO START THE FRONT DESK MANAGER WAS THE RUDEST PERSON EVER. I FELT DISCRIMINATED BECAUSE I DID NOT SPEAK ITALIAN. I ARRIVED 2 DAYS LATE BECAUSE DELTA MECHANICAL ISSUES AND MY AGENCY CONTACTED THE HOTEL BUT WHEN I GOT THERE THE MANAGER SAID I WAS A NO SHOW ALTHOUGH THE AGENCY SPOKE WITH THE RESORT. THE MANAGER SAID HE DID NOT HAVE ONE BUT WOULD LOCATE ONE EVEN IF IT WAS DIRTY. BAYAHIBE BEACH IS BEAUTIFUL BUT FIND A DIFFERENT RESORT TO STAY AT. THE FOOD WAS TERRIBLE I HAD OATMEAL EVERYDAY AND MADE GRILL CHEESE MYSELF FOR LUNCH. WENT TO TOWN FOR DINNER. NIGHTTIME ACTIVITIES WERE BAD!!!"

"My boyfriend and I stayed at this all-inclusive hotel, the food was appetizing, the drinks
were well made, the beach was amazing, the bartenders, wait staff and chefs were approachable, hospitable,
competent and overall friendly. My boyfriend and I overall had a good time. Our room on the other hand was
despicable. We booked a "standard room...; a standard room is supposed to be just smaller
than the superior/bungalows. However, when we arrived at the hotel we realized standard = SUBstandard and you do
not forego size and amenities with a standard room but rather cleanliness and comfort. Our first room took 40 minutes
after checkin to be ready. The room was extremely small, I would say closet sized, the terrace hade no screen so
mosquitoes came in when opened, the AC was too cold, only functions high and off, and the bed had only a thin sheet on
it. But we thought we could deal with all of this and not complain. However, on our 2nd day our bathroom ceiling began
to leak, we discovered we did not have a TV remote control (which they charge $20 for losing), we requested towels in
the AM but by evening when we returned to our room, we still did not have towels, and we requested towels again and
received a towel with dark stains. At this point we decided to go to the front desk and request a new room or even a
superior/bungalow room and offered to pay upgrade. There were no superior/bungalows available but they could switch
us on the following day to a new standard. We returned in the morning as requested and were told to come back at
3:30pm. We returned at 3:30 and were then told to return at 4pm. Upon returning at 4PM the girl at the desk had no
idea what was going on, and told us there were no rooms. We asked for a manager. After the manager spoke to her, we
were taken to a new room, it was rather large, with a seating area and a screen on the terrace door. When I
entered the bathroom, I was disgusted. The toilet was dirty, the tub was filthy and the vanity was heavily rusted. The TV
and AC were non functional, and when we sat on the bed, the bed broke; the right end literally just fell to the floor. We,
of course, called about these problems, and hit the beach. But when we returned to our room, we had the same
problems, so we went back to the front desk. The woman at the first desk told me "you got a standard room and you
just don't like it.... We explained we got a SUBstandard room and did not realize room size equated with cleanliness and
functionality. We requested the manager again who was aware of the problem. He had a bellboy show us another room,
the room we were taken to looked decent upon entry, however, when I went to check the toilet, the entire toilet seat
lifted. There was no fastening to connect the seat to the toilet. We kept our room and came to the conclusion that all of
the standard rooms were this much in disrepair. Our bed and TV were fixed later that night and on our 4th day the AC
began to work.
In addition, there is a surcharge for Viva Mexico The only restaurant you can eat all
meals at without a surcharge or reservation is La Terraza (the food is not bad at all but you are limited). Reservations
have to be made at least a day before.
Overall, we made the best of the experience. We have stayed at a couple of other all-inclusive resorts of comparable
price that offered clean rooms, timely maid service, and include al-la carte restaurants at no extra charge. We honestly
believe superior/bungalow/VIP get better rooms (as in cleaner) so if you must attend this resort get a superior room, if
you have time to cancel, SAVE YOURSELVES!!! And never do a honeymoon here!"

"Very friendly people, food is good but not awsome. Good beer and very good mamajuana...We had a good time and the shows are very enterteining.
I left a little tip every day and the maid was so happy that I got extra everything all the time, soap, shampoo, bottle of waters etc. My room did not have refrigerator or Iron so I asked Front Desk about it and they send me one without a problem, no extra charge... It was paradise for very little money. Go for it."

"The plus about this resort is that it was beautiful as promoted in the pix however everything thing else was not up to parr. When we arrived at our room there were no towells available we called front desk to bring us towels and this took over three hours. Not mention this resort had 9 resturants on the grounds, however you are only allowed to eat from basically one of them without reservation. 2 of them required reservation and the others required reservations plus an additional $15 per person. The food at what is basically the free resturant was horrible and disgusting. The drinks were nothing impressive and most of the staff doesn't speak or understand English."

"Best vacations ever! The Hotel was amazing. The staff is very nice, polite, super fun and very helpful. The animation team IS THE BEST!! I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to relax but at the same time have lots of fun. The food is really good as well. I am 21 years old and went with my mom only, we did not stop dancing, singing and having a great time. The Viva pool is big and beautiful, the beach is speechless. There a lot of people coming from all over the world to this hotel, mainly Italians other countries from Europe and South America. I did not see a lot of Americans. I am dying to go back, I really didn't want to return. Mejor vacaciones del mundo. El hotel es precioso, muy limpio y super divertido. Los empleados son muy amables y lo que quieren es que todos la pasen súper. Me encataria regresar ya que no me quería ir. La piscina y la playa son preciosas. Muchas actividades y el staff de ANIMACION SON LOS MEJORES!! La comida muy rica. Los shows de todas las noches son espectaculares."

"Pros: Friendly Staff, beautiful beachs, fun activities and music, great water sports, some international alcoholic beverage choices. Cons: Food was not very appetizing but you could usually always find at least one thing that was decent. The air conditioning did not work well in our room and this is coming from someone who waits till its blistering hot to turn the air on at home! The bed was very hard and the one pillow you get is as thin as tissue paper. Our TV was VERY outdated and had no remote."

"The staff were friendly and helpful - although not all could speak English they'd find someone who could. The food was fine - especially at La Roca and the pizzeria; we loved all the fresh tropical fruit! Dive and snorkeling trips were very fun - the dive center staff were great and very helpful! The beach was beautiful with plenty of lounge chairs to pull into the sun or under the shade of palm trees - at all times of the day. We were amazed at the great snorkeling right off the beach! The evening shows are very entertaining with very talented performers."

"Let me start by stating that the accomodations were excellent, impecably clean, and the wait staff was excellent. The young lady that took care of the room was very accomodating, more so then the guest services staff. The main dining room and restaurant were of 4 star caliber...but in my life I had never been a victim of racial profiling. The entertainment staff was blatant in there contempt of black americans. They did not invite or include the group I was traveling with in any of the pool side activities, dances, or audiance participation at the shows. I felt the disregard but it became rudly clear when one of the ladies of the group approached one of the entertainment staff and asked, 'can I ask you a question?' , to which he replied 'NO', she graciously asked again, and he again replied 'NO', at this point she asked, 'Why, is it because I am Black?'. In a recoiling manner he then stated 'Oh I was just kidding', and left the pool. Perplexed and incredulous of the aformentions incident, we compared different experiences, one of the ladies stated that on two occasions while, sitting pool side the entertainment staff was passing out fresh fruit decoratively arranged on a platter, she was not approached, the young lady purposely passed her twice, and went around her to serve white european guests. One of the ladies requested an appointment for a body massage. She was told that just to wait, that it would not be long. She waited 15 or so minutes, when a white patront came and was serviced immedaitely, not convinced that it was a racial discrimination, she waited, a second wight patront came in, and again was serviced immediately. At this point she asked, when the massues would be available? The reply, 'I am the person that gives the massages, but these 'Ladies' just want there hair braided.' Between the five of us that were traveling together, there were at least 10 specific incidents where we were made to feel like second class citizens. Our deportment did not warrant this type of treatment. The sad fact of this scenario is that the people incurring this treatment were of darker pigment then anyone in the group."

"The resort was clean, not everything worked in the room [ the fridge was broken, and still not fixed when we left], The food was OK ,The liquor was watered down...Not too many people spoke english,,or were they trying to....I was very unhappy with the way the entertainers treated us.. We couldn't even play Bingo, When we asked them to translate they said 'NO'... We were invisable to them, and we sat right under thier noises... and they walked pass us to engage the caucasion pepole . {we were a party of 5 women'} At one point my grilfriend asked was it because we were black... this stunned Freddy the dancer...that was the only time any of them spoke to us...That was 5 days into our trip...Will I go back, NEVER.. Am I telling everybody how we were treated 'YES' .. We travel 3-4 times a year.. I will leave Domincus off my Itinery.. "

"I went to this resort on May,18, 2012 to May,22,2012. This is not a place to go if you do not speak spanish. 95% of the staff do not speak english. They get irritated when you ask for help, if you don't ask in Spanish. If you come from the U.S.A. they have an instant dislike for you.They did not include us in any of the activities. They pass you by like you did not exists.It was hard just to get them to gave you a bingo card. You truly felt unwanted.The food was ok. The drinks were sooo watered down. I work hard and was looking forward to a great vacation this was not it. Wish I could get my money back."

"My cousin Mercedes and her family from NY , my family and I had a great time last summer. The food was good, the shows were excellent, specially the Michael Jackson show. I enjoyed the beach, we went to bed around 2am every day because there was so much to do, we felt safe there. We did stay for 4 nights and we are planning to go next summer for a week."

"Worth of every single penny May-27-2011 My husband and I with our two 18 and 19 years old kids planned this vacation few months ahead of time. I got a very good deal on bookit.com so I reserved it for 5 nights, I was very nerves because I wasn't sure with that price what kind of service we were going to have. I have to say I'm so happy we did it. We all had a blessed time there. Everything about it was just perfect. From the time we got there the people were very friendly, nice and helpful. The food was great so many different varieties to choose, the place was just beautiful, the room for the price we paid it was great. So many different activities. The only thing we were all upset was, it wasn't enough time for us. I felt like I could live there for ever. If I knew it was going to be that great, I would at least reserve it for 2 more nights, that's why we are planning to go back there next summer again. And to anyone who's planninig to go there if you really want to have a good time treat the staff the way you want to be treated, they respond well to that. Give them a tip and you don't even have to give them that much even few $$$ it would make them so happy. They all work very hard and I felt like they deserved that treat."
