A lot of the key points about this hotel have already been covered in other reviews. We had a great holiday but then we just wanted to lie about on the beach or by the pool and do very little. The hotel is about 90 minutes from Punta Cana airport and I suspect that this puts off a lot of people. For us this was a plus, the hotel was much quieter (in terms of certain of the noisier nationalities) than the Punta Cana/Bavaro hotels The food in the buffet was typical Dom Rep fare - reasonable vari... After recommending my sister to consider a change from Punta Cana and Puerto Plata resorts I suggested Grand Bahia Principe and it was a hit. She booked for three days with my brother in law and their three daughters and had wonderful time and loved everything including resort, pool, shows and staff. My sister has been to many resorts in different countries and if she was satisfied then I can guarantee you that it is worth the money.

This resort was so big that we did not know what to do with ourselves! There were plenty of things going on all the time. I loved getting up early and just walking the grounds. It was just a great relaxing trip! The pool is also huge with a fun swim up bar that was always packed even in the off season of May when we went. The food was also great and I suggest definitely going to the restaurants. Whenever you go to an all inclusive, you should book your reservations to restaurants upon arri... Read more

stayed june3-9 and had a great time. Our room faced the beach and we were right by the beautiful pool. My finance had a horrible tooth ache and Elisabeth from the Golden lounge was great. She hooked him up and went above and beyond. The place had good food and the Ala Cartes were ok too. Upgrading to Golden allowed us to use the internet on their computers for free. Great excursions to Catilina Island and Crazy wheels. I Highly recommend staying here.

This was out first time in the Dominkcan Republic. We loved our location and the excursions available to us. We enjoyed all the activities at the resort that kept us entertained the whole week. It was an ex excellent and relaxing place to spend our honeymoon.

We made our booking about two weeks before we flew as we did not pay full price we had a good value holiday. Hotel was was clean as was our room, all cleaning staff were very friendly and worked hard. The buffet restaurant had a good variety of food at all sittings. The beach restaurant did a very good lunch. Bar service at the beach was virtually non existent, we found it easier and quicker to use the beach bar. Hotel lobby bar service was terrible, staff not understanding what was ordered an... Read more

The flight was reasonable, we filled in the Tourist cards on the plane and queued to pay our $10 person to get in..if you have enough time you can do this on line via their website have it emailed p, u print it out and bring it along...save a bit of time. But if you loose the document u pay again. There were 2 conveyor belts in use for us and two guys taking bags off and lining them up in two queues so its a bit of a search for your bags...lots of people worrying t... Read more

The hotel is quite clean but service is not very good. The staffs don't always understand English. The food is terrible. Same things everyday. There are two shows that couldn't be called shows. And the entertainment in the hotel is poor. I don't understand why it's rated 5 stars. It should be 4 stars or lower... The sea is not clean. Will not come back here.

We've just had a ok holiday in this hotel ,but not great, reason being ( let me begin) 1. Service is not for us Brits ,they will quite happily ignor you for the locals or Spanish speaking clients .you can stand at the bar for a long time being ignored and when you do get served you might get what you asked for ,really don't understand what your saying so they just walk off. 2. They don't have enough glasses in hotel and the ones they do have are not designed for the ( really really poor cocktail... Read more

Just got back from the Grand Bahia Principe after 14 nights stay. Have to say we had a great holiday and now a bit sad to be back home. The hotel was good, any issues we had got sorted such as beech towels missing on arrival and safe breaking down mid holiday all got sorted pretty quickly. I would say after staying at a Bahia in Mexico a couple of years ago that this Bahia is still probably learning to meet the chains expected standards but you can see progress being made. The little things miss... Read more

Me and my wife stayed here for our anniversary and we had a great time. This side of town is more relaxing than Punta Canada. My mother in law stayed at the one in jamaica and they were so happy with there stay that we decided to give them a try and we did have fun, rest, party and good food. The staff friendly activities interesting the place clean the beach was great and I'm ready to go again just talking about it.

We booked a last minute vacation for my birthday and by the look of the pictures it was beautiful and the ocean was blue/turquoise so we booked and took the upgrade for the room which made us Royal Golden clients. This meant that we had a faster service than others a better room with 24/7 room service. We arrived at the hotel and true to their word we had a seperate check in than the other guests. We received our room at 3:00pm as promised but when we got to the room we only had one bed but w... Read more

Which was fixed eventually after a few nights. Us on the other hand had no issues with our ac or room. Great location near the beach and pools. Food and dining: was overall not a pleasurable experience with the exception of the a la carte restaurants. The reason for this is that at the buffet we were seldomly w... Read more

The animation entertainment team were amazing and kept everyone from getting bored, the members of the team who stood out were Roberto and Yaneyfri who were the best! The only criticism I have is that in the evenings when the shows are going on the bar simply doesn't have enough staff and sometimes you can order a drink and then never get it. Saying that, if you are going to The Bahia Principe without children and happen to find yourself in the night club Roberto was by far the best barman I hav... Read more

This was my fourth trip to dominican, first to this resort and La Romana. Resort was nice, well laid out, good shows, good food. Staff were a bit pushy about tips and cleaning staff was not good. We would leave every day in the morning often not returning til dinner time with no fresh towels, beds unmade, mini fridge empty, not even fresh water. Having to go to a bar for water everyday was annoying and they expected a tip. Oh and we left $5 everyday for maid which was collected even if room was ... Read more

Positive: 1. Beach. It's very clean. Hotel workers pick up garbage throughout the day. They also wash lounge chairs, sweep the beach daily. The sea is sandy bottom, calm waters, swimming area well defined with buoys attached to nets which goes to the sea bottom to keep seaweed out. Hotel employees pick seaweed out of the water throughout the day. The waters are murky, but not brown dirty. They not turquoise, but blueish color. 2. I had a wonderful time at the Grand Bahia Principe La Romana. After reading some overly critical reviews from people who clearly wanted five star service at bargain pricing, I felt the need to add my experience from someone who hasn't had a Caribbean vacation in 10 years and was just happy to be there. -Trip From the Santo Domingo airport it takes about 45 min to get to the resort.
