We simply love Copenhagen, and during many years we have been visiting many different hotels in this town. And then - we found Phoenix !!! We have stayed there ever after. In the beginning of May this year, we stayed there for our 9th time. And we simply LOVE it! The hotel itself is very, very beautiful. With lots of charm and history. However, I don't think that is the main reason why we are constantly coming back. It's simply the whole atmosphere, the lovely people working there, the great bre... Read more

This hotel isn't as bad as some of the reviews makes out to be. Couple of things you need to know, across Europe generically speaking 4 star hotels with years of history are outdated. This place has a fantastic lobby, yes it's dated including the rooms. Overall it's not a bad experience. It's centrally located and walkable distance to majority of the attractions. Rooms could do with a good update but overall it was very clean. It has a Victorian decor feel towards it, but well replenished. Mi... Read more

Hotel is a beautiful building albeit ageing and with no airconditioning. It is perfectly locate pad just a short walk from New Harbour the main shopping strip and both Amelienborg and Rosenborg Palaces. The staff were friendly, attentive and very helpful. The Windows open so you can cool the room however we had a room overlooking the central courtyard and people sat out on the verandah with drinks talking all evening.

The hotel looked fine at check in but was a real disapointment. Our room was on the first floor, one level up if your not familiar with Europe and when we took the one very small elevator that was working there we found we had to transition another flight of stairs to get to our room. Our room was at the end of a hall and oddly shaped, there were no luggage racks or place to put our bags which made things difficult. The bathroom had a child size tub and a step up which either tripped me or I stu... Read more

Hotel is located in downtown Copenhagen, close to subway station (easy to take a subway or train to & from airport), around 10-minute walk from hotel to Nyhavn. You can also walk around to visit Stroget, Amalienborg Palace & the Little Mermaid. No need to pay extra fees for leaving luggage there even though you arrived earlier than check-in time (3:00pm). My room was quite small... Read more

My stay at this hotel was satisfactory. I found the rates to be very high for the standard of the rooms. For the price I paid (approx. USD 240 excl. breakfast) I can get much better with more benefits elsewhere. The rooms are soo small and standard, let alone I was very surprised to see that there is a fee for the mineral water supplied which is part of the mini-bar supplies. Breakfast is for an additional fee, but not much to offer. I had lunch daily at your restaurant only to be disappointed t... Read more

Had a lovely stay at the Phoenix. It is perfectly located for tourists who wish to walk to waterfront, Nyhaven, shopping. Rooms are modern and spacious. The staff was helpful and friendly. We had air conditioning in the room, somewhat rare for a hotel in a historic central Copenhagen building. New tiled bathroom with glass enclosed shower. Really enjoyed the stay and will stay here again.

Although we loved Copenhagen and the people especially, this hotel does not live up to its 4 stars. The rooms are so small and the service is appalling. Breakfast is mediocre. Its one redeeming feature is the location; a five minute walk to Nyhavn and a bus stop opposite. Would not stay again as far too expensive.

Now, we knew that Copenhagen is not an inexpensive city to visit, (and we are from London!) but this hotel was severely over-priced. We paid £400 for a room ONLY rate (no breakfast included) for one night. The room was large and had a great bed. But we were at the end of a corridor, which seemed to impact the WIFI as it was terrible and we could never get on it. We were across the street from a very noisy bar. The bathroom had an odd step into it so you tripped on it every time you went in a... Read more

Phoenix Copenhagen has a feeling of a hotel that used to be luxorious but the best days are already over. Rooms are small and kind of charming but most of them does not have air-conditioning and you'll notice that the air inside is a little musty. From outside it is difficult to tell that the hotel is actually quite huge and has good facilities to organize business meetings for even quite big groups. In a hotel with this kind of habitus you'd be positively surprised that it does have a modern ... Read more

We took a tour before checking into our hotel and when the guide asked us where we were staying, he said "Oh, that hotel is very old and has a very interesting history". So, we couldn't wait to check in to see if he was right. It's an unusual hotel. I would not say "wow-wee" but interesting. For example, to get to our room on the first floor, we had to push the "door open" button in the elevator and walk through it. Very mixed review of this hotel when we stayed there a few weeks ago. The initial room we had was a suite and it was terrible. The whole roomed smelled and the decor looked old and very used. We saw some nice rooms in the elevator that they also feature on their website called executive rooms, and asked to be transferred. Although smaller these rooms were great, and renovated. We chose this hotel because it was central close to everything. The only drawback was that it was unusually hot and not all the rooms have air conditioning. Aside from a perfect central location within Copenhagen, the hotel is spacious, so are the double rooms (but not the single rooms though from what we gathered from friends staying also). I was taught that if you don't have something positive to say, remain silent. Which is why I only write positive reviews, of great experiences and places that I want to recommend. The Phoenix hotel is an exception, and I am actually so disappointed that I am writing the review while staying here. Where to begin? The overall impression on arrival was actually good, nice entry hall, friendly staff, it's nicely located, all good. Until we got our rooms. We are a party of 4 adults, and have booke... Read more

Hotel has an unbeatable location walking distance to pedestrian shopping districts, tourist attractions and sights, particularly the Nyhavn (picturesque wharf). Hotel is relatively old, and our room was small and tight, but clean and functional. Since the rooms are small, it would have been nice to have more public spaces (lounge areas) to relax after a day of sightseeing. To their credit, there is a small outdoor terrace.

Stayed for two nights on business trip- good room at front of hotel but not noisy, a/c old but worked- rooms are getting a little tired but were clean and bed very good even for a 6ft 4inch man- breakfast as much as you can eat and all very fresh- good location for centre of town and all the sights, if you have time !!

Location is perfect to visit the city. Everything is within walking distance. My room was very comfortable, and the old fashion decoration brings a real atmosphere to the place. The terrace on the second floor is nice to relax. Good breakfast, friendly staff.

Wow, at close to 200 pounds on a week night I ended up with a single room (smallest room I ever stayed in) on the ground floor looking into a disused courtyard. Bath/Shower switch was broken, sink water did not flow out, lights flickered, only ventilation was a wide open window (on a ground floor) the bar was fogeyish and unwelcoming, there were seemingly no amenities and nobody. Breakfast (average) turned out not to be included in my way overpriced rate. Decor was old (not even retro) 1 Star qu... Read more

I prefer older hotels with a character and Pheonix certainly has it: old , but without old smell, with modern ameneties, tiny, but tastefully decorated rooms, hotel common areas are spacious , with wide hall ways. Beds are heavenly - confortable with a luxurious bedding! I'd say dining room could use some updating, as it appeared belnd, cmparing to the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was decent, but not included and did not worth $26. There are no porter to help you with a luggage , which is st... Read more

It's pretty on the outside but once you got into the rooms it was quite filthy. We had ordered a Cava wich was really nice. The style of the rooms, a bit old-school white with gold details. The bathroom was great and the location was perfect aswell. Really close to both restaurants the esplanade
