Visited during a short break in Copenhagen and it was part of the package booking through an agent. Didn't expect too much as the price of the overall package was quite reasonable. However, this lovely little hotel was wonderful! Clean and comfortable with exceptionally helpful and cheerful staff. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfast was really good. The supply of coffee, tea, biscuits and pastries for free all through the day was a really good extra touch that made us feel so welc... Read more

The hotel is decent. Some small changes could make a difference to make it even better. We had a double room, which was quite small even for a European hotel, facing the back side of a huge apartment building in a quiet neighborhood. Comfortable chairs and bed, plus a tiny TV (didn't even turn it on). The bathroom in particular was not to my liking as it was impossible to take a shower without flooding the bathroom, due to the in-floor, badly designed shower. There wasn't even a runner to mop a... This hotel isn't perfect but you have to realise it is an affordable hotel. We had a corner room (apparently larger than those mentioned in other reviews) so there was plenty of space for the three of us. It was clean and I couldn't exactly fault it. Yes the hotel is old fashioned but it is a traditional style hotel. Location. This hotel is situated about an easy 10 minute walk from the underground metro line Kong's Nytorv- this has a train every 3 minutes to the airport- which then takes 15 min... Read more

Spent two nights in May 2016. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Room was clean and bed comfy. Room on the small side, but plenty big enough for tourists who don't spend much time in the room. Breakfast was great. Great location. Close to Rosenberg Castle and hop-on, hop-off bus stop. Short walk to main parts of town.

Booked in for three nights, description of hotel could only be described as 4 star. Staff extremely helpful. Friendly and nothing is to much trouble. Hotel, rooms and surrounds clean and tidy. The fact that coffee and cakes are available to guests in breakfast room all day is a really nice touch. Would recommend and stay again if ever n Copenhagen.

We stayed three nights at this hotel. Overall it was OK but why have a plastic shower curtain that sticks to anyone taking a shower - a rigid screen would be far more comfortable and impressive. Two armchairs in the room was welcome, as were the drinks and nibbles during the day (a good place to return to freshen up).

Hotel Christian IV is a charming, older hotel. Our room faced the courtyard and was clean, bright and plenty big enough for the two of us, and had two arm chairs, small table, and a desk with chair. Two bottles of water and some chocolates were waiting for us. The two large windows opened all the way to let the natural "air conditioning" in. Bathroom was a good size also. Staff was very helpful and pleasant and the breakfast had a good choice of items, including boiled eggs, cheese, pastries, j... Read more

"Luggage storage room" is listed as a service on the hotel website. Do NOT be fooled. This means you can leave your luggage but they do NOT care about safety, therefore, this makes the service very poor. Let me explain: I left 1 luggage and a backpack; - no employee made sure that the storage is locked; - the receptionist handed me the key to pick up any belongings stored there without even bothering to ask for my name or what room number I used during my stay. Just because I got lucky it does... Read more

This hotel is rather basic, but the room and common areas were clean and breakfast was good. They also have coffee and snacks in the afternoon. It isn't very convenient to public transport if you're carrying luggage (10 mins walk), but a taxi to the airport or train station is pretty reasonable. They also have parking if you drive there. The hotel itself was quiet, but it is near a park where lots of people gather on Friday & Saturday nights for music and picnics, etc. So if you have the windo... Read more

Stayed at Hotel Christian IV as a couple in June. It is in a lovely quiet location near parks. We were given an upgrade on arrival without asking, which was nice. The room was a good size, clean and bed comfortable. However, I felt it was quite basic, no frills, for a price of around UK £160 per night for a double. Breakfast was a reasonable continental buffet, and tea & coffee were available in dining area all day. Overall a comfortable stay, but I just felt rather overpriced.

When I emailed this hotel several months ago, they assured me that they could accommodate my son in a wheelchair. When we arrived, the only room on the ground floor was taken. My son's wheelchair was too wide for the elevator. Since this was only for one night before our cruise departure, we problem solved by removing the large wheels on his chair, leaving only the casters and tippers. This is a classic Danish stay. If you do not want anonymous service from a clerk that do not care, this is the hotel for you. Familiar faces every day and above average friendliness:) (Danes like any nordic citizen can be a bit tricky to interpret) This is certainly not a 5-star hotel but a decent and central stay if you are capable of walking 5-10 minutes.

First the good things, room was huge and immaculate and cleaned on a daily basis. The breakfast was lovely and tasted great. Now the bad points, the bar is a tray of drinks, the free all day pastries did not happen and on our second day the staff where preparing to have their lunch in the main breakfast room.Although the attention to detail just was not there,if you want a good B&B then this place is worth a try.We paid £260 for 2 nights so not too cheap either.

This is a charming little hotel about six blocks from Nyhavn. The included breakfast was quite good, though the dining room was pretty crowded in the morning and our party of five had to split up. The rooms were basic but clean; the staff was helpful and gracious. Our only complaint was about the beds. My husband and I have some back issues and we both were aching and stiff for the next two days. Our teens fared better but also mentioned not being comfortable during the night.

The location of the Christian IV is not too bad fir some of Copenhagen's interesting sights but the hotel itself is in need of some investment and care.
