We stayed 4 nights in 4 lovely suites. the hotel is ancient but well kept, and like I stated in the title, GREAT LOCATION. but there is a big ON THE OTHER HAND: we came to this hotel, paid quite a bit as it was a 5 star hotel, and expected to get that. but to our surprise the hotel was in the middle of renovations that take place from 8 in the morning until 8 at night! unbearable. more so, some of the room we blocked by the construction and needed to walk over 10 minutes just to get out of t... Great central location, quiet street despite being close to the old square. Friendly staff on the desk, although one or two serving breakfast were rather surly. Good big room with free safe, dressing gowns, spotless. Typical big breakfast buffet. Shame no lounge area. Internal renovations, but not intrusive. Altogether, pretty good.

We stayed in the Iron Gates for one night before attending a wedding in the country. We arrived very late due to our flight being delayed and amazingly got upgraded to one of the amazing two floor suites. They are HUGE! The ceiling artwork and the bathrooms are lovely. We heard absolutely no noise even though saw a few complaints of building work noise we never experienced this. The breakfast is great and they catered to my gluten free diet which was really lovely. I like quirky places and this is one. It has a prime location on a tiny cobblestone street. We had room 214 above the entrance and it was great. It's a funky layout inside in a fun way. You can walk to the old town square easily. There are eating places galore. The price is good for what you get.

In the hart of old town, no cars near by. 5star hotel but little bit scuffed up. Rooms needs small fixes, nothing big but many small ones. Front desk lady very helpful, breakfast staff would need school of service and customerservice. Breakfast has 3 cold cuts, 2-3 cheese, eggs in one form - others can be ordered. Some warm foods. Fruits and jogurt. Juice, coffee and tea. Some sweets. Just ok breakfast in down stears. Bed is comfortable, pillows were basic. Wood floor was big plus for alle... Read more

We really enjoyed this almost hidden hotel located steps away from the Passage into Old Town. It was once 3 buildings now joined so was full of little connecting corridors and patios. The rooms are large with big beams painted in the old Czech Folk Designs. The staff was eager to help you plan your dinners or activities and had lots of recommendations. It was nice and quiet and the breakfast included with the room price was fine. We would definitely go back.

Some guests may find this hotel old-fashioned and in need of revamping, but we thought if matches the environment. The old, study furniture, the narrow hallway, and the frescoes put you in the right mood to enjoy the city. Rooms are spacious, as are the bathrooms, plenty of storage space, quick service, and, best of all, absolute silence right next to the Old Town Square. It's our choice for our next visit.

The Hotel is being extensively refurbished but they did not tell us until we arrived. No lights on the stairs, dust and rubble everywhere and workmen starting around 6.30 even on Sunday. Pity as Prague is fantastic but hotel spoilt it. Real pity that I was not warned in advance as I could have booked an alternative hotel.

I stayed two nights in the hotel and was given a free upgrade to junior suite. Despite the huge room, comfortable bed and good WiFi connection, the hotel itself was marred with problems. Firstly, the housekeeping did a terrible job at cleaning the shower area. There was tiny shards of broken glass in the shower area! At first when I entered the hotel, I was shocked. It did not look like a five star hotel. The receptionist took some time to get us the room as there is a lot of paper work which they do. For each member in the family, they prepared papers to sign. Not seen this in any hotel. But when we went to the junior suite room, it was excellent. Upgrading us from junior suite to executive suite also didn't hurt :) But seriously, this is an Art Deco hotel right in the heart of Prague. No complains for the hotel. It was only amazing. I was not expecting the HIGH prices for all normal things. Water was extremely expensive in Prague! 4 or 5 euro for 1 liter of water! The second floor suite was spacious with two rooms and a large bathroom. The room was clean and received clean towels daily. Breakfast was included with a choice of hot or cold buffet, one could also order omelettes. Location, location was the best only a two minute walk to the main square. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. My wife got ill and they assisted me in arranging a visit to the doctors. I would book same hotel if we went back to Prague.

Located just 2 mins from the old town square and 5 mins from Charles bridge makes the location of this hotel perfect. The building is beautifully old, our suite was very spacious and well equipped. Staff were very helpful, breakfast was excellent. Faultless - we would definitely recommend it and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

This hotel is an absolute gem right in the heart of Prague's city centre. The concierge (Patrick) was the most perfect host - attentive, knowledgable and so very helpful, nothing was too much trouble for this guy! Hotel rooms clean and spacious with a bathroom to die for! We only had breakfast at the hotel but food was varied and plentiful and 'all you can eat' - really sets you up for a day exploring this magical city.

What a location hidden away from the main square, just a few second away this tranquil location was perfect. The room was large and everything was comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar the perfect spot for a night cap and breakfast generous in the range. I will be staying again next time I am in beautiful Prague. As a side note the hotel is opposite a fantastic little restaurant if you want to spoil yourself with some genuine authentic Czech cuisine and culture the ... Read more

Literally steps from Prague's Old Town Square, it is tucked in and on a quieter cobbled street. For those taking a taxi from airport, please note, taxi's are unable to drop off/pick up at door front, so if you have large suitcases, be prepared to walk about a block from drop off area. If you need help, you can always call for porter to meet you. Our flight from North America landed late (close to midnight) so it was quiet when we checked-in. The hotel decor is majestic and makes you feel like yo... Read more

We found the Iron Gate to be very well located for our needs: close to the Old City, the Jewish Quarter, the Charles Bridge, and public transportation. The hotel isn't a cookie cutter hotel or a branch of a big US chain. It's tucked away on a small street, a renovated building with old wooden beams, lovely iron work, and chandeliers that evoke the elegance of an era long gone. The rooms very very large and extremely comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful about directing us to sights, tra... Read more

A 30 min taxi drive from the airport takes you to The Iron Gate in the heart of old Prague. The street is virtually traffic free, and the Old Town Square is just a minute's walk away. We stayed in one of the suites, and were impressed by the space and how well they had managed to reconcile the preservation of 17th century features with modern luxury. Comfortable, refined and quiet, this hotel is a real gem and I can't wait to return. It is also remarkably good value for money.
