"It is an old hotel and the rooms could definitely use some serious updating. Our safe did not work and we killed three small roaches while we were there. None of this freaked us out since we have seen much worse. However, the location is ideal since you are a skip and a hop over the bridge and to the other side.

Breakfast at the hotel at $15.00 a piece is a rip off. Ate there once and no more. The casino leaves much to be desired and they are installing new machines. The casino at the Renaissance Resort just over the bridge is an amazing casino and the Plaza hotel needs to know that they are losing money when visitors go their instead of staying on the premises and using their casino.

Overall, our visit at the Plaza was comfortable and again, the location is the best!"

"I have to say that I was disappointed in my stay at the Plaza. For such a great location in downtown Williamstad, you would think that it would be a supreme hotel. Was I mistaken. The hotel is in DIRE need of upgrades. The television in the room were old tube television with only a few channels able to be view. The room itself was tidy, however I had to buy mold/mildew remover as the apparent mold and mildew in the bathroom was disturbing my wife. The entire hotel did not provide wash cloths for their guess so we had to go out an buy some. When I asked for ice (no ice machines in the entire hotel) from the front desk the attendant gave me only a few pieces because he said he had little after I just witnessed him give some local people an entire bucket full.

Unfortunately I stayed here during the new king inauguration, so the entire square was jammed packed with people. It was impossible to drive. The food was entirely over priced and after midnight there is no place around to get food if you didn't have a vehicle. The staff was unfriendly and if you were not a local it was obvious in their treatment. Fortunately my wife is from Aruba, so she spoke the language and was able to get items I wouldn't be able to.

I also had made arrangement to have a shuttle pick me up at the hotel to return me to the airport and they never showed up. The front desk was clueless and I had to pay $40 for a 15 minute taxi ride.

I love Curacao, but my stay at the Plaza hotel in conjunction with the celebration that was occurring made it not so pleasurable."
