Resort Details

Family run for generations, the Avila Beach Hotel can boast a unique history that covers more than two hundred years. Time seems to stand still there.

Ceiling fans whirl slowly. The air smells sweetly of hibiscus and trinitaria (bougainvillea). Palm trees on the beach seem to wave welcome. Brightly painted fishing boats chug across the azure sea. A full moon chases a warm sun westward. Another perfect day magically evolves into yet another balmy, star-studded night.

The Avila Beach Hotel is an authentic reflection of the island of Curacao. Friendly. Intimate. Understated. Welcoming. It is famous for its quiet, restful tranquility and yet it is only a short distance from bustling historic Willemstad, the capital and energetic center of Curacao.

A true coastal sanctuary, the Avila Beach Hotel features two private beaches separated by the elevated boardwalk leading to the Blues Bar/Restaurant. These are refered to as the `East` and `West` beaches. The East beach faces the direction of the wind, therefore it has a bit more wave action. The West beach is more protected from the wind and offers very calm waters to swim in. Regardless of your choice, both beaches are protected from large waves by offshore breakwaters and the turquoise waters are perfectly safe to swim or snorkel in.

The infinity freshwater pool is located near the Octagon Wing complex and offers a tantalizing alternative to relaxation on the beach.

Regardless of your choice where to spend your day, you will enjoy complimentary chaises and beach towels. Select from a menu of light fare and refreshing beverages available all day from the Pool Bar or Schooner Bar.

Very good welcome desk, friendly people cleaning lady, beach services and restaurants. The food is excellent with limited selection helping to have a very high quality. It is a very convenient location close to the center of interest with the harbor and shops.

If you are looking for long sandy beaches and warm Caribbean blue water you will be disappointed. Unfortunately for us we had a string of rainy days. We were in Curacao for 18 days in January and it rained some every day and clouded over when it wasn't raining. This wasn't the Island's fault but it colored the vacation. The 2 beaches were sandy with a breakwater enclosing them to keep the water calm. There were ample chairs but finding shade was difficult. There were few umbrellas and 5 or... Read more

Hotel is close to the road and a walk into Willemstad is manageable, the overall appearance of the place is a bit worn out ,the rooms are different but nice, the beds just down right suck hard as the floor and no top sheet. The ocean view is good but not the best on the island, even though they claim all rooms have a ocean view, ours was obstructed by palm trees and the octagon museum (which is only open by appointment). Food is average, breakfast is not good, and most of the staff have an attit... Read more

We had a great 5 day stay at Avila! The hotel is great place to hang out and relax. There were two small beaches and a pool only steps away from our room. The room was very quiet and we slept soundly. A special shout out to our bartender Leleith at the Avila Schooner Bar. She made us feel very welcome. I highly recommend the Blues Club. Make a reservation for the live music night. The jazz was amazing (and we've seen a lot of jazz). Also try the restaurants very close by: Fishalicous an... Read more

Avila Beach Hotel is a Beautiful resort...we loved the beach... lagoons....with lots of chairs/loungers, umbrellas, beach boat/restaurant & drinks. Our Room was nice. The Kitchenette consisted of a hot plate, mini fridge & mini kerig type coffee maker. Our room had a view of the courtyard & Museum. Our beds were 2 twin beds that separate. Nice white robes. And small closet to hang clothes. Safe. Little desk area. The Staff was SO warm & friendly and went out of their way to help and inform... Read more

If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation - come here! The hotel is walking distance to downtown, and also some really great restaurants - yet very private. The staff at this hotel is super super friendly and helpful. Special shoutout to Farley, the manager, who personally gave me his cell phone number prior to arriving to answer any questions that I had. Also the food at the hotel is very very good with great prices. The resort is perfectly sized (not one of those huge resorts).... Read more

everything was perfect from room amenities to perfect snorkeling just outside of lagoon' barrier. Pro: big room with kitchenette; A/C is quiet but powerful; they do wash dishes when cleaning the room. the beach with lot of chairs in shadow area and swimming lagoons( and you can swim at night too); great snorkeling on the reef just outside the lagoon( very safe); testy, reasonable priced food in hotel restaurants; good drinks; free shuttle to downtown twice a day, and also you can walk to downtow... Just came back from a 8 day trip to Curacao. We stayed at the Avila Beach Hotel. Exactly like the pictures! Right on the beach. Has 2 lagoons for swimming and snorkeling. We stayed in the La Belle Alliance wing - 4th floor room 409 and had an ocean view from our large balcony. The room has a small refrig. and small stove top, coffee pot and sink. We really loved the large bathroom and walk in shower (doorless) also the bath tub that is located outside of the shower area next to larger cl... Read more

This was our first visit to the Avila, but it will def not be our last. The facility was beautiful, with 2 private tidal swimming lagoons on a very nice beachfront. We only ate dinner there once (the Sat night BBQ buffet), and it was outstanding. Far more than just ribs & baked beans. Grilled fish, shrimp, tenderloin - really delicious. We stayed in the LaBelle Apartments, which were extremely nice and newly renovated. All European, hi-end fixtures, with great balconies. Very... Read more

I didn't stay at the Avila hotel but I did purchase a day pass for the beach and enjoyed a few cocktails The day pass for the beach is cheap and definitely worth it if your hotel doesn't have a beach. It's very nice and relaxing. The hotel staff is friendly and hospitable. I really enjoyed myself that day. The Octagon Museum must be the worst museum in the western hemisphere and I'm only saying that because it never actually seems to be open. I've been to Curacao two times and on my last trip...
