lovely place to stay the views are to die for, we also did the three island boat trip and that was value for money, plenty of wine on board if you need it.we had a meal in the knobo restaurant as it was my birthday and the manager from asterea came in with a rose for me, very nice touch I was also presented with a cake.so a lovely night once again. but I must say if you want really good food then visit the lantern restaurant, great staff, great food. we were half board but after visiting the lan... The hotel us about 30mins by taxi to Dubrovnik. The hotel does shuttle buses on a regular basis. The food is not the best I have had but acceptable. The room is clean and functional with a balcony. Some friends have a suite which they say is wonderful. It is very peaceful in the local area and a good 30min walk into Mlini if you are a slow walker like me. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I wish my Croat was as good as their English. They do not provide towels for the sun lounger... Read more

Our first impression as we looked round the hotel and grounds was 'What a lovely hotel!' and that was our final view. A spacious modern hotel - enormous foyer - the biggest hotel indoor pool I've ever seen - set in lovely wooded grounds stretching down to the sea (pebbley beach). Two outdoor pools, and a path leading thru' the trees to hotel bars and restaurant, then on to other bars etc and sandy beaches. The rooms are all you need , ditto the food - not haute cuisine, but a wide choice. Very g... Read more

The hotel is a typical example of a 3 star establishment. Outwardly, everything looks fine. The reception area was welcoming and efficiently run. The bedroom was all you would expect, clean and tidy. Everything worked, including the hairdryer and the TV. The bar area was ok, but when it got busy you may have to wait to be served. Really, what does let the place down is the restaurant. The food in my opinion is not good enough. Leftover vegetables from the evening before should not be served up i... Read more

Stated at Hotel Astarea for one week September 2015 and found the whole experience thoroughly satisfactory. The hotel itself was very well located, quite big and with lots of facilities which belied its star rating. It was spotlessly clean. Food was plentiful and palatable. There was a bus service from the hotel to Cavtat and Dubrovnic and it was possible to book it for the appropriate time. I did, however, find the bus drivers to be pretty surly and not always punctual. Overall I enjoy... Read more

We haven't been to Croatia before so didn't know what to expect. The hotel is set at the far end of the village of Mlini (the village isn't that big down by the coast). Really nicely positioned no roads passing through. Lovely swimming pool and plenty of beds. The hotel is quite large and spreads out into the grounds. We had a room in a separate building to the main hotel which was fine, great view of the sea from the balcony. The only downside was a lot of steps and/or stairs if you're no... Read more

Recently returned from an enjoyable stay at this hotel .Well located for boat trips and evening strolls. Rooms fairly basic but a balcony to sit on . The restaurant was very busy and although plenty of choice for food it was not very hot. The outside part to eat was closed a lot of the time which was a shame . We ate out a few times and there are plenty of nice reasonably priced restaurants in the vicinity.Pool area lovely with beautiful views out to sea.

Stayed here in a party of 9 in June 2016 for a week. Fabulous location with pool and terrace and you can just walk 100 yards to the shingle beach; I swam in the sea twice daily - and I am not a hardy soul. Swim shoes are essential due to to the shingle and possibility of sea anemones. Friends snorkelled around the rocks. Good variety of food, the buffet bars are replenished regularly so if some items are short, you just need to wait. Plenty of fresh fish options but also meat dishes. Fresh fruit... Read more

Room basic in annexe but with excellent aircon Hotel, all amenities you could want but let itself down with weedy areas but staff very good Not happy having to wait for 2hours to get into room until 2pm after being up since 3.30 am Pool area excellent as is the location, but had to do the sun bed shuffle every day to fight for a sun bed to beat guess who.

We were a party of six who stayed in June. The hotel is in a lovely location easy access to all the other touristy places but without the constant huddle and bustle. We checked in slightly before 2pm which wasn't an issue and were given three rooms next to each other. The rooms we were given were not identical. Two were really small with beds jammed next to the walls and no room to really move, the third was a lot bigger included more storage space and a fridge which I think all rooms should hav... This was our second stay at the Astarea Hotel - and not disappointed. My wife has a gluten allergy and gluten-free bread was available at breakfast and superb gluten-free cakes at dinner. Top marks to the kitchen staff for the helpful guidance as to what was safe for her to eat. This hotel is certainly one we shall return to again!

Thank you Astarea for making our Croatian holiday one of our most memorable. The weather was superb , the sea, clear and warm and our trips breathtaking . Our room was in the annexe and was great , the view of the Adriatic sea and bay was postcard material. Our room was on the top floor and could only be reached by stairs as this part of the hotel has no lift, we found this to be no problem but anyone elderly or suffering with walking problems may need to look to the main hotel for accommodation.... We arrived at the hotel just after 1300 hours, but check in is not till 1400 hours. The transfer from the hotel only took 25 min, and that was including drop offs at other hotels! First room was on floor 5, lovely views over the sea, but after the first night, the air conditioning was not working correctly and had to get moved to a room on the ground floor, view not as good but st least the ac worked! Rooms are basic, but practical. Could do with some upgrading, but the bathrooms are lovely, wit... Read more

We stayed in the annex which was a short walk away from the main hotel building. The room had a beautiful view of the sea from our balcony (see picture) and although the room was a bit dated in decor, this wasn't an issue. Would have been good to have a fridge and kettle in the room. AC was welcome and didn't keep you awake at night. Great pool area with lots of beds although these did get snapped up quickly. There was only one day out of 7 that we couldn't get one though. Went on the beach ins... Read more

Mlini is a lovely place to stay, very relaxing yet so close to Dubrovnik too. Really enjoyed our stay here, though no fridge in room was disappointing but the lovely bar staff did provide ice if you requested it (very grateful for that). The rooms were fine, decent size, AC, good balcony and great bathroom. Breakfast was very busy but the staff were excellent at putting out fresh food. Pool area was fab but gets very busy very early. Beach area lovely, with an awesome, reasonable beach bar. They... Read more

The hotel was well placed with amazing views and friendly staff. It would have been nice to have had a kettle or a fridge in the room but as it was a little basic but still nice and tidy room. Overall really enjoyed the stay and Mlini too. Dubrovnik was the highlight and the shuttle service from the hotel was well priced.

We are currently staying on the ground floor of the annexe and I have to admit before we came I was worried after previous reviews but when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised. Yes the rooms and surroundings are not as plush as the main hotel ( which is next door not far away as other reviewers said) but The room is fine, clean, refurbished bathroom, comfy bed, television and dressing table etc but the view is great! FULL sea view and it was cheaper to stay here than the main building. The n... Read more

We had a fabtastic stay at the hotel Astarea in July. The weather was in the mid-30's C all week, so the AC in the hotel and bedrooms was very welcome. We stayed half-board. The food was good, as buffet style, although quite samey. Drinks not included, but not that expensive. Bottle of wine £13, beer about £2.50. Lunch out cost us £20 for 3. Frustrated that guests put towels down by outside pool each day, but we always found room by indoor pool balcony or on the pebble beach. Beach within wa... Read more

Great hotel and we were concerned because my husband has difficulty walking and having read other reviews we thought we would be snookered. As long as you are in the main hotel, there are lifts and everywhere has accessible ramps in the main building and down to the pool and restaurants, the whole way along the coast to Sebreno! A lovely walk with plenty of places to sit down or have a coffee, ice cream or a drink.. I've given 4 stars as the breakfast although given plenty of choice had pretty a... Read more

Stayed in the annexe for 10 days in July. The annexe is 3 star and does need updating though I am sure it is in their plan . That said, it is kept very clean, housekeeping were very efficient and friendly. We did have a couple of minor complaints about the room and they were sorted out straight away without fuss. The rest of the hotel is more modern and the grounds pretty, and well maintained. It was very hot so the A/C was a must and just about coped. Hopefully when they do update the annexe th... Read more

The Astarea Apartments are very bright, modern, and comfortable, it would have been good if the apartment had a kettle. Mlini is a lovely place to stay, but we had to walk a good half an hour to get to the local supermarket, as we were self catering, it would be very useful to have a mini market on site. one particular man who worked at the piano bar in the evenings, was lacking customer service, very rude, very ignorant, possibly in need of an assistant, but no excuse for his manner.
