My wife and I spent 3 nights with Podstine and loved every minute! The walk to town made our visit to Hvar more than we expected !! (If you are a runner get excited it is a great work out up to the fortress!!) The rooms are basic & nice, but the views and the privacy make up for anything less than 5 star. We loved Podstine and would recommend it highly ! Very Very Very Clean and the staff is Awesome !!

From the minute I contacted the Podstein hotel and Hvar I knew we were in for a treat. Mina and Lena (I might've spelled their names wrong ) that work the front desk are incredibly nice and helpful. They helped me figure out which ferry to take from split where we could bring our car. They told us a good winery to visit while we stayed at their hotel for two nights. They put us in a room with a balcony along with our friends who were next-door. The breakfast at this hotel was outstanding and t... Read more

One week holiday in Croatia on Hvar in May/June 2016. Best deal I could find was Jet 2 price and most local flight from Leeds/Bradford. Got to hotel after transfer which included Ferry from Split to Stari Grad ,Hvar. Back to hotel, great terraced layout meant reception was on Level 3 . Reception very very helpful and always ready to give advice and help sort any issues . Rooms superior view from Floor 1 good view of ghotel grounds and sea , some rooms may have view obscured by trees (that was m... Read more

We absolutely loved this place. It started on the wrong foot but it was our fault - we figured we'd walk rather than get a cab from the harbour to the hotel, but the path runs out about 100 yards before the hotel so you're left staring at it across the water. Luckily a member of staff came to our rescue, though he was new and got lost. It was quite amusing but made us realise the benefit: that nobody walks through the hotel grounds as it's not en route anywhere, which is a big plus. We recei... Read more

Great small hotel. When we arrived, we were shown to our room which was awesome. Top floor with great views of the azure waters of Hvar. The beds were excellent. WiFi strong and solid. Included breakfast was great. We had a corner room which had great cross-ventilation, so we did not need to use the AirCond. Staff was attentive, friendly, and competent. Most, but not all, spoke good english. Dive center right adjacent to property, this would be a great place to get certified. Beautiful rock beac... Read more

Arriving at the Podstine it looked like a modern villa - quite unassuming. Our room was clean and comfortable without being particularly special. What is so special however is the location of the hotel and its leisure facilities, a well equipped small gym, spa treatment area, restaurant set amongst tress on a terrace, and a lovely area for sunbathing with direct views over the bay and adjacent to the sea. The staff at the hotel couldnt have been more helpful and the place had a lovely relaxing i... Read more

Nestled into the rocky shoreline, a gem of a place which feels like an undiscovered secret. The multiple terraces hold delightful experiences - a welcoming front desk staffed by a knowledgable local; a breakfast buffet to eat on the patio; the pool which feels like you are a guest at a wealthy person's home; the outdoor dining and bar area like a relaxed exclusive club; the rows of padded lounge chairs for sun and snoozing as you listen to the waves; a wooden path over the rocks to dive into the... Small hotel with professional staff. The private beach was very nice and they also had a dive center. At first we got a room with no view but the staff was very helpful so we change room and got excellent view over the ocean. Ask hotel to organize your trip to and from the ferry. They handle everything from tickets to transport for no extra charge.

With cascading stone terraces lined with comfortable lounge chairs overlooking the beautiful Adriatic Sea, this hotel feels like an exclusive villa. The views are divine and overlook a pretty private cove where sail boats come to moor at night, and a narrow bridge walkway between the rocks to the side of the hotel, where boats can drop off guests. We saw one guest arrive this way with luggage and a road bike. The cycling on Hvar is great! While relaxing on the terrace, drinks and lunch are serve... Read more

Hotel Podstine is an indeed heavenly retreat. The hotel is situated in a bit secluded spot, ideal for a family vaccation, but it is also just a 20 minute walk from the city centre. It has a private beach with sunbeds and natural shade from palms and pines that grow on the property. The staff is very friendly, nice and helpful in organising boat trips, taxis and that sort of stuff. And special thanks to Mira who really did everything she could to make our stay special.

If I could I would rate this hotel more than 5, it was totally worthwhile. It has a lovely ambiance that, as someone else pointed out, feels like a private villa. The hotel has its own beach, and there is plenty of space in the sun or in the shadow, giving you enough privacy to relax and enjoy. The outside front space has a lot of realxing areas with comfortable lounge chairs and right next to it two bars with a good selection of refreshing drinks and smoothies. Breakfast buffet was very rich, ... Read more

The hotel is a little bit further away from Hvar town, approximately 15 minutes walk (Definitely get a transfer from the hotel, because walking to the hotel with your suitcase can be a hassle). The standard hotel rooms were different on the pictures from the booking sites, but the service and accommodation make it up for everything. Especially the hotel's private beach was very cool and relaxed.

This was our first trip to Hvar; we were a bit nervous that the hotel and island wouldn't live up to the hype. We were wrong. We could not have chosen a better hotel for our first -- and hopefully, not last -- stay. Our pre-trip interactions with Stipe and Ivana were very helpful. They were patient and answered our questions and helped us choose the perfect room for our stay. The view from the room was worth the upgrade. The staff is friendly and helpful. So we only visited the Terrace but not the hotel rooms Very kind and exclusive welcome from the staff and waiter Terrace is beautiful, with palm trees and see view, food was delicious, served quickly and all at the same time ! Calamari was delicious, meat was ok, and desserts very good and fresh (cheese cake for example) Nice place that we recommend

Love this place, very charming and romatic..... I have to point out that the staff was amazing. They were really kind and helped us with our order. The food was also wonderful. Everything we ordered was fresh and domestic. Podstine really is the best hotel on island of Hvar!

We enjoyed a 3 night stay last month whilst touring Croatia. Slightly out of town the Podstine is an easy 20 minute walk into town although there are steps involved on most routes, and equally easy and safe to walk back afterwards. We would recommend requesting the transfer from the port, we don't think this is well enough publicised by the hotel and we ended up incurring an exorbitant taxi fare from a driver who literally took us for a ride. The hotel rooms are fairly basic, although comfortabl... Read more

First visit to Croatia, and we picked a top spot in Hvar. Going in August meant paying top prices, and even worse with GBP Pound Sterling post Brexit. Everywhere in Europe has become expensive, even the places you may expect were not. Getting to Hvar is a bit of a mission, via the airport in Split which is quite far from the ferry port, then an hour on a catamaran. But that's all part of the adventure. The Hotel Podstine (apparently means face of the cliff or rock face or built into the rock) is... Read more

The hotel is set in a beautiful position, possibly the best in Hvar. The views are gorgeous and there are shady terraces leading down to the sea which are really pretty. Here comes the but! for 400 euros a night, even after Brexit, this is way overpriced. The rooms are adequate but basic and don't look to have been touched since the '80s. The bathroom has a new shower fitting but the shower cubicle and the bathroom itself is very dated. We paid extra for a full sea view but as the trees have... Read more

The best part of the hotel is the location. Right on a private beach (Rock) with excellent swimming and some snorkeling. It's near enough town to walk in for the evening, far enough out to be peaceful if you so desire. The restaurant is good quality (the local cured sausage is a fabulous starter) with plenty of fresh seafood and local wines. The service at the restaurant was excellent. Attentive, friendly without being stuffy. Breakfast is OK, nothing special. Other service at the hotel is medi... Read more

One of the best hotels at the Adriatic coast of Croatia: comfortable, cosy, quiet, clean, close to city centre with great restaurant in a lyric environment. Fairy tale holidays! You have full comfort on the beach, in a lounge close to the beach and good service everywhere. I would only propose richer breakfast in Croatian way - cottage cheese, fruits, home-made jam, domestic cereals.

We just returned from the Hotel Podstine where we had an incredible 4 night stay!. The hotel is outside the old -town and accessed by a beachfront walking path. The hotel grounds are beautiful with terraced levels down to the sea. I cannot say enough good things about the hotel staff particularly Lara, Mira and Ivanka (Ivana). Enjoyed a three day stay in Hvar. Large room with balcony and sea view, lovely terraces for relaxing and sun bathing. Really friendly staff and the shuttle to/from the port was efficient. There's a small pool, spa and gym plus a treatment area where I had a lavender massage. Lunch and evening meals were lovely in a great setting. A restful time after the busy-ness of Split and Dubrovnik.

We had an enjoyable stay at Hotel Postine. It was in a beautiful and quiet location. Staff were very friendly and helpful at reception and the bar, however there was some poor attitudes displayed with some of the male staff at breakfast, which was a bit uncomfortable at times. We weren't the only ones to notice this. Therefore we didn't chose to eat there for dinner but can recommend Dalmatino's in Hvar which had great food and service!

We stayed for 4 nights on our honeymoon in July this. The undoubted highlight of the hotel is its location with a private beach. However, the hotel decor is a bit tired and the restaurant staff could have been more polite. That said, the rates were more reasonable than the hotels closer to Hvar town. Overall we thought the hotel could have been much better with some investment and some TLC, and we didn't think it worthy of 4 stars.

Hvar is simply beautiful. Hotel Podstine is situated in a wonderful position to enjoy a little piece of paradise. We stayed 5 nights last month, September 2016. Our room was upgraded to a balcony and side view of the sea. The room 202 was spacious, with plenty of wardrobe and shelf space, and a refrigerator well stocked with drinks. Second visit to Podstine in 9 years. Hotel lobby and rooms need a renovation. Bathrooms are dated, ants on the floor and staffs attitude thought out the hotel was one of indifference. Could not find a waiter at breakfast. Location is gorgeous and walk to town very pretty and interesting. This could be an amazing hotel with some serious love.
