We loved this hotel. We stayed in Villa Palma, which is one of three (including Villa Sol) that are closest to the restaurant and reception. Our villa was completely private, with a refreshing plunge pool, a great hammock and an incredible view. Our breakfast was included each day and we though it was very good. The Huevos Rancheros were our favorite, plus the delicious fresh fruit variety and the excellent service of Junior and David. We only enjoyed one dinner at the hotel. The pork was go... Read more

My husband and I had the absolute most WONDERFUL time ever!!!! Jamie and Maria were great and were always there to help us with the excursions, car rentals, etc. Andres, David, Junior- these guys were the sweetest gentlemen and were there to assist us whenever we needed it!!!! Emilio- another sweetheart! And he made the yummiest breakfasts and lunches. EVERYTHING was so delicious!!! For breakfast we recommend the gallo pinto, the french toast and the pancakes with strawberries!! For lunch we ... Read more

We LOVED Casa Chameleon!!! The staff was amazing. The villa was beautiful and private. We would absolutely return Mal Pais and stay at this incredibly lovely spot to relax and unwind from the stresses of life.

Casa Chameleon is a captivating boutique hotel in the hills above Santa Teresa. I could praise the features of the hotel on and on. But I want to highlight the wonderful staff and unrivaled dining experience. Junior, Andres, Ignacio, David, Maria and Julia are so spirited and truly make you feel like valued friends. Dining-wise, if you want endless options and the mediocrity that often comes with it, this is not the place for you. However, those willing to trust their experience to a talen... Read more

The last time we visited Casa Chameleon we knew that we had to come back for our honeymoon. We had an amazing time on our honeymoon and all centered around the wonderful folks at Casa Chameleon who made our trip so memorable. The rooms and room service are beautiful, the pictures speak for themselves. The staff was not only super nice but also went above and beyond to make every day special. David, Junior and Andreas were very courteous and gave us the scoop on the local area, things to do, and ... Read more

We loved every minute of our stay in MalPais at the Casa Chameleon. We received a warm welcome from Jamie and Junior. Our Villa was everything that we hoped it would be. A large comfy bed, plunge pool, and the Bluetooth speaker along with the refreshment center were nice additions. We enjoyed a lovely couples massage in our villa during our stay. It was well done, professional, and worth every cent! We ate in the restaurant four nights and the meals were spectacular. Chef Jose Luis was an abso... Read more

The hotel staff at Casa Chameleon made our trip to Santa Teresa for our honeymoon unforgettable. Junior, Andres and David were more than willing to make recommendations to allow you to experience the area like you could not have without a local's expertise. Maria and Julie were also fantastic in helping us make arrangements and handling any administrative items throughout our stay.

Overall, we had a good time in Mal Pais and at Casa Chameleon. The staff was friendly, food/drinks were great, and the room/hotel grounds were amazing. However, the trip was not without many bumps in the road due to lack of planning ahead on Casa Chameleon's part. 1. Upon arrival there was no taxi driver with a sign to signal that they were picking us up and we had to ask many drivers if they worked for Casa Chameleon in order to find a ride. 2. The ATV was not available for us to use on Fr... Read more

We were most excited about this hotel on our 10-day trip, and I really wish I were giving this 5 stars. The hotel is in an amazing location with incredible views and the rooms are lovely. If we had stayed away from the restaurant I might add a star, but we didn't. The staff was very nice but disorganized (new staff) so expect to confirm your own activities. The $60 pre fix menu is pricey for Costa Rica, and in a country with exceptional cuisine the food was downright bad. There are two options:... Read more

We stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed it more than we initially expected to! During our first couple of hours here we were a bit apprehensive, given we had just come from a lovely place in another part of the peninsula, that there was no phone in the room in case we needed anything (this is still an issue I think that the management should address as at around $500 per day for a minimum five nights at the time of our booking they can surely afford such basics), that the staff appeared a bit fl...
