Really lovely hotel built down the side of a mountain facing Arenal Volcano. Beautiful hotel, really nice people. Lovely pools and hot springs. Nice activities. Loved the views from the hotel, enjoyed being there, but no desire to return. Something just a little off.

My husband and I spent a wonderful 3 days here in September. We spent half of the week on the beach at the Four Seasons and then made the journey up to this beautiful property. In the end, we wished we had spent more time here. We had great luck with the weather at both locations- it was clear and sunny almost everyday. We only had one day that the rain started about 5 pm and went all night. It seemed to be raining buckets, but the next day you would never know there had been a storm. It is qui... Read more

I do not have one complaint about this property. The service is simply outstanding and the property absolutely stunning. Every detail of the property is immaculate. Some may say a little over the top but when you are spoiling yourself, a little bit of "over the top" is fine by me. I should mention the food as well as we ate dinner here each night. The food was delicious and presented so well. They really give you no reason to leave the resort. When we find our way back to Costa Rica again someti... Read more

First class property with plenty to do on property. Friendly staff, with plenty of restaurants, a spa, hot springs on site. Staff is extremely caring and friendly. It has its own area called Club Rio, with a zoo, hot springs, horseback riding and tubing - a great surprise addition. Highly recommended. One draw back - the road into the resort is not paved and takes 15 minutes off the main road, does impact visiting offsite activities. The benefit of its location is an amazing view of the vo... From the moment we arrived - from the opening intro to the hotel, the quality of amenities, facilities and service exceed many other experiences. Rooms are expansive, immaculate, and richly appointed. Staff is well trained and infinitely attentive and gracious. Food in all areas was outstanding. Be prepared for plenty of rain. We planned many excursions but spent a lot of time being wet. No activities were cancelled due to weather - but you׳ll be happier with appropriate rain gear. We went to ... Read more

We bought a two day hot springs package. It was beautiful and very relaxing. The grounds are well kept and the water is definitely hot. Wonderful waterfall to lay under as well. Also visited the restaurant-the food is good but certainly overpriced. The drinks are average overall. We enjoyed our visit overall

We spent 2 nights in the Villa Calatea and it was absolutely stunning! Plenty of room for 5 of us (2 adults and 3 children). The rooms were clean and the views from every window were amazing. The complimentary golf cart and private plunge pool were also a great hit. We ordered room service for breakfast and lunches and ate on the patio overlooking lush gardens. Food was great and reasonably priced for what we got. We spent most of the time in the Perdido Springs area which contained 7 po... Read more

This place is utterly ridiculous and a scam. I am from Los Angeles and go to a spa on Rodeo drive regularly and the prices at the spa here were triple what a spa on RODEO DRIVE cost. Sorry I don't want a $250 mani pedi... I understand it is upscale but it is more expensive than the Waldorf Astoria or The Beverly Hills Hotel. They charge 18 dollars for Casado a dish that costs only 5 bucks in town. It costs 40 dollars to leave the resort because it's 20 dollars charge to be driven to town and bac... Read more

Most beautiful place I have ever stayed!! The rooms were amazing, the hotel was amazing, the grounds were breathtaking, the hot springs were so fun and so beautiful! The service is really that of a 5 star hotel. They catered to any request we had. The food was also very good. The only little things I could even say I didn't like were that every afternoon when the "day pass" people arrived, it got rather crowded. I wish there were areas of the hot springs that were for guests of the hotel only... Read more
