The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was ok: you can choose if you prefer cereal and fruit or the typical breakfast "gallo pinto". The staff was friendly and helpful. Perfect location, near the center and Alfaro bus station.

Great location and staff, very pleasant! I highly recommend it. The room was very clean and we had very good breakfast every morning. Itā??s definitively a hotel you want to visit, if you want to stay in the heart of San Jose.

Chose the Cocoon Hotel because of my travel agent recommendation. If we come back to Costa Rica, we will definitively stay here again. The service was incredible... during our 3 day stay we interact with 3 different front desk people and they could not do more to answer our questions and give fantastic recommendations.

We stayed a couple of days here, and we couldn't think of a better location. This hotel is basically located in the downtown area, walking distance from shops and restaurants. The breakfast was excellent and the room was pleasant and clean. An excellent hotel at a very good price.

First of all let us start of by saying that we have stayed at all types of hotels at different price points, locations, and categories. We have done plenty of budget hotels as this one and have had a great time in them. We are of the belief that a hotel is only to sleep in since you are supposed to be exploring the city all day anyway. All we need is a clean bed, with a clean bathroom and a quiet room. With that said, here are the pros, cons, and recommendations to the hotel if they read this. ... Read more

I stayed 3 nights st the cocoon hotel, I think that it is an average hotel, has some good things and also bad stuff that can actually improve to better serve the customers . 1. There is to much noise coming from the street. 2. Towels where not available when needed. 3. Wi fi is awful, never worked. 4. The front desk lady "Viula" is very unfriendly and careless, she is not willing to help the customer, instead she spends the time sending messages on the phone and on check out time I had to wait ... When we arrived in Costa Rica we stayed at this hotel. Secure location, excellent ac, but the staff hospitality was the best. All the staff was so nice and attentive. Breakfast was very good, and the coffee... excellent! On our way back home, we stayed in another hotel in the city. Good, but not good as this one.

The hospitality was excellent and the the hotel is very clean. The suggestions the clerk gave us about interesting nearby attractions made our short stay in San Jose great. The room nice and breakfast was good. The hotel is also in a good location.

The best service ... I want to thank the staff for their attention & service. I like the hotel's location in San Jose downtown. A confortable place to travel and meet so many things around the city. I was enjoyed the time traveling into Costa Rica, with one of the best prices in San Jose downtown.

We were here our last night in Costa Rica. It was a great experience. The man at the front desk was in the Top 3 list of the nicest people we met in Costa Rica! His English was just perfect (way better than my Spanish), and that was very helpful. The room was very clean and the TV worked perfectly. Dinner was great. My husband and I agreed that we can't recommend this hotel enough!

We stayed here the first day and the night before leaving Costa Rica. The staff was kind and helpful. The rooms were large and clean. We had drinks at the bar and dinner. Food was great and not expensive. Breakfast was included in the room rate ($60) and it was good too. Everything was within walking distance as the hotel is located in the middle of the city of San Jose.

The hotel is lovely with personality and ease located in a very central neighborhood, near to restaurants, shops and museums. Loved the deco and settings! We stayed in a Standard room, and it was clean and chic. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large, with hot water and amenities. The staff was well-mannered and very helpful. This hotel provided a great experience to begin our vacations.

The breakfast was good, eggs, toast, fruit. plantains and either cheese or a meat. the room was big came with one queen bed and one single bed. a safe, tv, and modern bathroom. The street that is located on is not so good as a matter of fact one of the worse of the capital. Is not bad if you are not going out at night, but still you get the stink of the urine of all the homeless that stay close by.

We stayed one night here and I can say that this hotel is perfectly located. We had a spacious room with everything we need in it. The staff was particularly helpful, and honestly we could not expect more, considering that we paid around $ 60.

We've been here only one night because we had to stay in San Jose our first night, on our Costa Rican trip. The location is great... basically downtown, walking distance to the Pre-Colombian Gold Museum. The rooms (we booked 2 standards) were large and also comfortable. Beyond doubt a place to stay when in San Jose.

First of all, I did not end up staying here. I used their wifi and booked at the Radisson, nearby with superb service and rooms for $10 more of what this "hotel" is charging. Rooms are NOTHING like the pictures! I booked this hotel very last minute with spotty wifi access on the side of the rode, before taking the bus ride to San Jose from Quepos. I did not have a chance to thoroughly check reviews and hotel, but I was desperate to book a place for that night. The female receptionist was very k... Read more

Hello to my readers, for me this hotel is perfect for it location, from here you can walk to the main attractions of San Jose, the museums and the national theater are just few blocks from Cocoon Hotel. It is located in an old part of the town so I saw lot of old building that are really interesting. I also enjoy alot the night life of the cities and few steps from here there are many kind of bars visited for locals and foreigners, while I stay here I been in some casinos that are nearby. We visited Costa Rica, and we spent our first night here. Our agent booked a superior room for us and it was very clean. The hotel itself has excellent service, and it's incredibly well located. Breakfast was from the menu, and it was cooked at the moment. Absolutely recommended.

The front desk in the hotel we stayed in Manuel Antonio booked Cocoon hotel for us as we wanted to spend the last night in San Jose.So simple and nice hotel and the reason we rated it 5 stars althought it is only 3 stars is the warm welcome and the nice staff. We payed 55 $ the night including breakfast and that was very good. Now the joke: we found out that the owner of Cocoon is the same one of the hotel we stayed in Manuel Antonio, Shana Hotel, that means it is a cleaver way from the front de... Read more

For a good price, you get a large room, 2 beds, med bathroom w/lrg shower (hot water), WiFi, flat screen TV. Also free breakfast in the morning. I was catching an airplane, so the airport shuttle was a welcome extra, even though there was a $30US fee, which is about the same as a taxi.

We normally stay in cheaper places, but my husband got sick, so we stepped it up a notch and stayed two nights at Cocoon. The bed was comfy, the service was friendly, and everything was clean. But we had a room facing the road, which was a little loud, and we special-ordered chicken soup which cost an outrageous $10. So good, but not super.

Right in the heart of Central Ave with stiores, banks, fast food restaurants, visible homelessness, drugs, dirt and prostitution. Hotel staff was the BEST part of my stay extremely helpful and friendly. Hotel rooms are moldy smelling with little to no natural light. Light bulbs were dim and few outlets. The AC unit was old and noisy so easier to turn off and use the ceiling can which sufficed. Bed was uncomfortable being able to feel the springs in the mattress. Breakfast was ty... Read more

In the heart of san Jose, beautiful white and green coulours. The rate is super and the breakfast is included. Maybe the location for many is not good, but for me it was the best, close to the center, close to many bars and restaurants in night time. For what i payed, i must thank all the staff of Cocoon and the manager for giving me the right even to bring sometimes food from outside. Thank you all.

Very nice people working in this nice hotel in the center of San Jose. We had to stay 4 days in the city to make some buisness and the location was perfect to moove easy without driving or taking a Taxi. We left our car in the hotel parking the hole time. The rate is excellent for our budget and we even had a free breakfast. We recommend cocoon hotel for people with small budget and needs to be in the center of San Jose.
