Had one night here and suited our needs well. About a half hour walk into the city centre but situated in a pleasant spot close to parkland. Rooms are good, modern and spacious. Onsite restaurant was fine and our stay very comfortable. Good choice in San Jose.

Start with the positives, we liked the location, on the outskirts of town and quiet, and the staff were extremely helpful and courteous. We stayed for four nights and that was three too many. Our room, (126) was dark and dingey, the room lighting inadequate, shower was barely hot enough, insufficient towels, small bathroom, but on the plus side the AC was good and the TV was a flat screen and when it was on it helped to light up the room! The one and only restaurant served a rather poor breakfas... Read more

The hotel staff were really friendly and check-in was smooth. There was a little plunge pool / jacuzzi which was a nice touch. The room and bathroom were both small and quite dated and overall it was very dark.

Tiny room, no outside window, empty mini bar but good bed and restaurant. Also had a bad night with noisy people, the hotel is near the national stadium. A bit too east of center. Good for business night but not for families or tourists. I blame Kuoni for a bad advice...

More of a business hotel with a great restaurant. A bit pricy and also far from downtown. But staff was wonderful. Rooms were very clean. There are a few places you can walk. But the staff was very helpful and kind.

This hotel is on par. They upgraded our room free. Free WiFi; free breakfast which is delicious. Staff is very pleasant. Nikklas restaurant (Greek) is a 30 second walk and has the best cheeseburger EVER.

This is a small hotel close to Sabana Park. I think its a good location if you are driving, but not so much if on foot. Everything was clean and tidy, and I never experienced a lack of English speakers. The first room was smaller than what I expected but when I said something they upgraded me, n/c to a larger room. It is a two story building with a grand staircase, and a freight elevator. My room was upstairs and I rode the elevator to save my knees. There is a very nice restaurant on site,... Read more

We stayed a total of three nights at Rincon del Valle, two when we flew into Costa Rica and one when we flew out. It seems to be a business-class hotel, but we were celebrating our tenth anniversary and we were thrilled. The rooms are quiet and pleasant with everything you expect from a hotel, and the halls have little courtyards woven in that are open to the sky and have trees and shrubs growing in them. It was a pleasant way to ease ourselves into the rainforest adventure we were about to g... Read more

The room itself was fairly spacious and apart from being a bit gloomy due to little natural light ok. What was completely unacceptable was the noise from a party in the hotel restaurant that went down all the corridors and very loud in the room. On a previous night when we didn't have the music problem but at random times we were woken up by some rumbling from equipment outside the room which would come on for approx 5 minutes intervals at random. Don't know what caused it but while it was loud ... Read more

Was only there one night. Only issue was a musty odor in the room but moderate. Decent breakfast. If you get back to the hotel late, the guard at the door will not be in the best of moods. Struggles to open the door as he is half asleep.

Lobby=beautiful, welcome drink=awesome, staff= very nice, restaurant=great food, rooms=smallest room I've stayed in San Jose (5+ hotels)-could barely walk around the bed and once there is luggage-forget it, bathroom=so small you couldn't access the sink without standing by the toilet, closing the door, then stepping around the toilet to get to the sink (bad design), tears in the shower curtains, extremely thin walls, the A/C unit leaked (very close to the electrical outlet where the tv was plugg... The big party they had ruined the night for us. Absolutely terrible music and nothing I could do to drown it out. I complained to the receptionist who took a long time to even hear what I was saying. She said she would get them to turn it down but there was no noticeable difference and it went on quite late. The only positive that I could see about this place is that if you were going to the national stadium it is very close. The other tourist sites in San Jose are a long way off - the traffic ...
