"Loved the San Jose Marriott hotel, food, staff, and spa treatment (Spa therapist, Georginna was absolutely wonderful, kind, and professional); Gregorey (waiter) and chefs were eexcellent and out-going. Book-It.com however not as helpful... We tried for over 10 days to have our agent return our phone messages with no luck. We called her 2 weeks before the change request deadline (7-21-12) to add more days for our stay but were unable to reach her or anyone else!!! We called the 1/866 toll free number and waited over an hour (2 to 3 times) without success in arranging an extended stay in CR. However, due to CRs rain, we are now glad the stay was somewhat short. Book-it.com failed to tell us the best time to go to CR was from late December to mid-April due to the rain!!! All in all we did have an adventurious time. "

"I would like to qualify my ratings for this hotel. My husband and I stay 99% of the time in a Marriott hotel, as their standards are high and their customer satisfaction is very important to them. First of all, I have severe allergies to dust, mold & mildew and in humid climates it is a huge problem. The first room had mold and my allergies to polyester/acrylic fabric is a huge problem and their bedding was a mix of cotton/poly. I could not sleep due to asthma (mold) and the bedding burning my skin. I had requested all cotton bedding when we booked the hotel along with foam pillows. They took care of the foam pillows, however, not the bedding. They somehow could not locate all cotton bedding, so we used 3 cotton thermal blankets for bed sheets (not too comfortable). Then, 36 hours after arriving, I became very ill with sore throat and then chills & fever. Ultimately, making calls (over $200. USD for 2 phone calls to our travel insurance company) to halt our vacation after having the hotel 'on call' doctor come to our room and diagnose acute bronchitis. I tried to heal myself for 2 days, but I was not successful. As you can see, our 50th Anniversary celebration was not possible, we ended up traveling on our special day back home. I still have a lingering issue with coughing and raspy throat. I would like to add that the Costa Rican people and most of the staff in the hotel were extremely nice to and went out of their way to help. We enjoyed the food because Costa Rican food is all organic the restaurant in the Marriott had excellent food, I would recommend that they add more options to their menu."
