Directions: Head west out of San Jose towards the international airport on the Inter American Highway. Turn off at the Atenas-Orotina-Jaco-Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio exit. Take a left and follow the road and continue to the town of Orotina. Once you arrive in Orotina follow the signs to Jaco and then drive down the pacific coast to Quepos. Once in Quepos Downtown follow the signs to Manuel Antonio National Park. Follow this one main road four kilometers. You will see the Los Altos billboards along the way. Before the road starts descending on your right you will see Barba Roja Restaurant. Next to this is Los Altos Resort. Turn right to enter. Estimated driving time is under 4 hours. 4x4 vehicles preferred but regular cars should have no problem.

Quepos Downtown

Directions: Quepos Downtown follow the signs to Manuel Antonio National Park. Follow this one main road four kilometers. You will see the Los Altos billboards along the way. Before the road starts descending on your right you will see Barba Roja Restaurant. Next to this is Los Altos Resort. Turn right to enter.

"Our experience was different from many noted, perhaps because we were there over the Dec/Jan holiday time. The staffing was too lean for the number of guests. Pricing was exorbitant for 3 people, especially since the overall experience suggested this relatively new place isn't quite ready for prime time. The beach area down a very long and rocky road is totally undeveloped. No towels, no phone to call the resort, nothing but a few basic lounge chairs. Transportation up and down isn't always available. Be aware that even the walk to the restaurant is steep; the pool is even further down the hill. Breakfasts were skimpy compared to the other 2 resorts we visited in CR on this trip & staff seemed quite overworked. Pool area is nice with a good view but without adequate staffing it became dirty with leaves, empty glasses, wet towels. The friendly staff members just couldn't keep up. Towels are not available at the pool, only at reception. Units are modern & very large, easily sleep 6, with 2 great bathrooms. Pictures on website are accurate. Suggest eating off site. All meals & coffee across the street at Cafe Milagro were delicious & relatively inexpensive. We found La Luna at the Gaia Hotel to be the best of all. Mar Luna is totally casual & had excellent fish. Hotel doesn't always book excursions through the best tour companies so have an idea of what you want before you get there & ask for them by name."

"The condos are beautiful and the view is wonderful! The pool was great and there were lots of monkeys to watch in the trees. Beware of the trail to beach, it was very steep but well worth the walk. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would love to stay there again and again!"

"Lost Altos Hotel in Manuel Antonio was excellent in every way. Excellent place to stay. Suggestions: you don't need a guide at teh Manuel Antonio park, the guides just point out animals you see yourself...., restaurants: we enjoyed Victoria's - great italian, Aqua Azul and Salsa puedes both have solid food and great atmosphere, Ronnies - great food adn great view for sunset......"
