I loved staying at Le Cameleon. The location is great, across the road from the beach and walking distance to good dining options and the Jaguar Rescue Centre. The rooms get 10/10 from me; I loved the clean white of everything - so cool and relaxing. The splashes of colour were fun and being surprised by the alternating colour schemes around the hotel kept us guessing! The kids loved opening the door to see what colour their room was each day! The pool is fantastic and surrounded by lush gardens... Read more

My husband and I just recently stay here for 2 nights for our anniversary and we had a blast. The Hotel it is one of the best places around. The rooms are very pretty and very clean too, air conditioning, good mattresses, clean bathroom and shower ect. The breakfast is included and it is a very good food. The staff it is the best of all, everyone always is smiling at you and willing to help you out on anything or everything. Jessy was our waitress in the breakfast area for those 2 days and she i... We booked this hotel on the spot as we decided to skip part of out trip. Basically we searched for most comfortable and nice hotel with air conditioner that was not crazy expensive, and Hameleon just fit the bill precisely! It is not cheap, but it delivers everything you need to enjoy the comfort. White color dominates the design, which is nice and stylish. Color spots change daily (cameleon :) The restaurant is relatively big and well placed in the jungle close to a water pond so it is not that... Read more

Went for the first time to this hotel. The people at front desk and at the restaurant and the beach are very nice. The room is very clean, nice bed, and a flat tv. The pool is not very big but is clean and there is also a jacuzzi. The food is really good. Not in front of the beach, but just across the street and they have a beach club where you can spend the day with food and beverages from the hotel.

Great stay at this cleanly decorated little gem in PV. Nestled tightly into the lush jungle that surrounds it, it's hard to tell where the property ends and where nature begins. Greeted by the sound of so many species of bird in the morning, it was a pleasure to spend a few minutes on balcony before heading down for breakfast. We saw our first toucans in over a year being in CR on that balcony. The hotel is across the street from the beach, but the restaurant is directly on the beach and the bre... Read more

This is by far the best option for a luxury hotel in the area. LOCATION: Away from the touristy downtown area, in a preferably quiet location. GROUNDS: Modern, yet natural with a small boutique feel. There are also sloths in the trees for those who enjoy animals. (Me.) AMENITIES: The pool is lovely, plays chill appropriate music. Rooms are clean and comfortable with powerful A/C and have flat screen tv's. FOOD: Breakfast is good here, and eating while hearing and watching waves crash on th... Read more

My title says it all. If you want comfort and complete relaxation while in Puerto Viejo, this is the place to be at. It's kids friendly, and at the same time, full privacy is well kept there. We will re-visit it for sure!

This hotel has limited service and the service is a little slow. The facilities needs urgent update as almost 10 years have past and there isn't a major uplift. Still, the only and best choice in all Southern Caribbean and right besides La Pecora Nera, for sure will be back...

The hotel staff was extremely educated, helpful and professional, no complains at all, we arrived late night and they were waiting for us. Although it was raining almost all the time, the staff provided umbrellas for each room and the stay was very relaxing, the balcony was beautiful, we loved sleeping with the open balcony to hear the rain falling on the trees, rooms are beautiful and have everything you need. Perhaps the only thing I would improve is the restaurant, live music would be a good... Read more

While on a beautiful trip to Costa Rica, we made a last minute booking to celebrate my birthday "in style." While the hotel toots its luxurious horn, the best thing going for it are its crisp white rooms. The staff is poorly trained, from dress code to guest management, they don't have a clue! From dishes sitting around in the public areas for hours to missing table essentials at breakfast (waiting ten minutes for sugar until you have to go find it for yourself) there is NO CHANCE IN HELL WIT... Great Boutique Hotel, excellent service, the facilities well designed with the forest. You can not see the facilities easily as they are well camouflaged with the vegetation and forest. Music at the swimming pool, great rooms, cleans and spacious.

I don't know where to start- I loved this hotel, in fact it was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. The staff is exceptional Amaris, Jorge, Gerardo, Dewayne, Ana, Sonya (I'm sure I am forgetting names- please forgive me). Initially, I had booking issues, Amaris and Jorge were wonderful to assist me. Even though we only stayed for 3 nights, I felt like I was leaving friends at Le Cameleon. In fact, we loved Le Cameleon and Puerto Viejo so much, we plan to return this December with the res... Read more

This is a very nice hotel with beautiful grounds. Staff were very nice and helpful: Ray, Jocelyn, Walter, the staff at breakfast & the beach club (I am sorry I have forgotten their names) were all wonderful. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful with fresh fruit, juice, coffee and a menu to order from. The room was big & AC worked very well. The Beach club across the street was very clean. It had lounges chairs, restrooms, a bar, food and staff came to take your order & bring your drinks at... Read more

Very nice, very clean rooms. Great location right across from Cocles beach. It is a bit out of town so figure on a taxi to get here and back if you don't have a car. The restaurant was quiet but had good food. I would stay here again.

Stayed here for one night with my boyfriend. I've stayed at several smaller and cheaper hotels in this area but we wanted one night of luxury and were very pleased with what we got. The rooms were nice and clean, with a cute little private balcony. The pool area and all of the grounds of the hotel were stunning. We enjoyed the bar by the beach. The breakfast was delicious. Overall seems like the closes to a luxury resort you can find on the Caribbean side of the country.

The hotel is one of the most confortable in Puerto Viejo. Is one of the few with full air conditioning and swimming pool. The rooms are modern and change decorations daily. The pool area is small but nice. The food and service are good, but for me the massage was the winner. Daniela gave me a deep tisue massage. She was great!

We have just returned from an 11-day stay at Le Cameleon and loved it. The hotel is about 3 km from Puerto Viejo and you can walk into town in about half an hour (although I wouldn't recommend it at night because the road is quite dark and it can be hard to see where you are going) or hire a bike and cycle, but it only costs $6 in a taxi if that all seems like too much effort. The grounds are beautiful with a fabulous variety of tropical plants that merge into the forest behind it. The pool ... Read more

La Cameleon is amazing, in every way. The pool is spectacular and the private beach is an oasis for all who come here. I loved the classy and fun decor choices and found it adorable with then the rooms change color scheme. This hotel is a bit outside of Puerta Viejo, which we liked because it was quiet after hours, but that means there aren't a lot of options for dinner. PRO TIP: Explore the other dinner options but you can't beat the breakfast here!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon at the end of September. The property itself is very nice and I especially loved the private beach area. The breakfast in the morning was great but as other people had mentioned in their reviews the fly and bee/wasp issue made it almost unbearable at times to enjoy I actually got stung twice during our stay at breakfast. The food was delicious however we even enjoyed dinner in our room one evening which was one of the best meals of our trip. The w... Read more

We stayed here for 6 nights. As previously mentioned there was a storm which cut the electricity off. We arrived in the storm and got to our room just as the power went off. The poor chap on reception didn't know what to do with us. We sat in our room for nearly 2 hours with a couple of torches. Wandered to the restaurant, they were trying to carry on in candlelight. Great small hotel, easy to find! I booked this for 4 nights and the price came with a great breakfast - made to order. You had your choice from the menu, and the food was really fantastic. The best breakfast I ever had in Costa Rica. The room was just right, not too large, or too small. Best of all it was very clean! Recommend getting a room on the second floor. Le Cameleon fits seamlessly with its surroundings: rainforest and the cool, laidback vibe that exists in this area of Costa Rica. The staff are friendly, helpful and happy to assist with your rotten Spanish (all the staff we met speak English)! Cabs are booked no bother; you don't have to book for dinner; lovely bar/lunch area on the beach which is just across the road. The hotel room was clean. The picture on the internet looked much better than what the hotel really was. Although it was clean, there were some minor maintenance issues which are very apparent in an all white room. The grout was not clean, some of the tiles were cracked and mainly, the beach furniture was horrible. I realize that the weather plays a large part of the wear and tear of the furniture however, it does not look well maintained at all. The wait staff was amazing and the food w... Read more

This is a wonderful little corner of the Caribbean Coast. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the hotel is perfectly located on the coast and metres from the beach. The hotel grounds especially the rooms are somewhat scrappy and tired.
