Rio Perdido is an incredible gorgeous property! Many fun on-site activities such as water tubing, ziplining or just relaxing in spa, rio perdido thermal springs and pools, cocktails and good food. No matter what you are doing, rio perdido staff will make you feel very special because they are attentive and pay close attention to detail. Complementary breakfast is nutritious and delicious starting with fresh fruit juice, fruit salad and homemade mince biscuits!

We just ended an 11 day tour around the Guanacaste area for the first time. Started on the northern coast from Playa Papagayo to Tamarindo, to Nosara, ending at Rio Predido. What a perfect ending to an amazing time in Costa Rica once again. Rio Predido is just off the grid enough to enjoy a peaceful piece of heaven and totally disconnect from the hustle and bustle. This stay was the favorite part of my entire family's vacation. The rooms are so comfortable and located right in the tropical forest. The river located below the room area is a perfect setting for relaxing day and night. There were great trails for hiking, river rafting, and zip lining all onsite. The staff is the friendliest individuals we have come across.

My best friend and I spent 3 days at Rio Perdido last week and had a wonderful time. The rooms are these fantastic little cabins but so chicly designed, not rustic (I do not really do rustic living quarters). We marveled at the attention to detail and how cool the whole design was. The restaurant has absolutely delicious food and everyone there is friendly, helpful, and fun. We loved ziplining with Jonathan and Martinez, they are fabulous! Don't miss that adventure. All of the staff was helpful and friendly. Everyone made sure our stay was a good as it could be. An example was when we were out one night looking for wild life. One of the staff members saw us when he was leaving for the night. He took his own time to walk us back towards the hotel to show an anteater.

My family is very familiar with Costa Rica, so finding a new place with things to do and a good atmosphere isn't simple. Rio Perdido provides novel treehouses with all the conveniences that are in the middle of the trees, which gives a feeling of personal space while being very close to nature. The main lodge has a large dining room with a fantastic open-air view of the valley and low mountains. The food is excellent, and you can try out some unusual cocktails or ask for an old favorite. We went white river tubing, zip line, mountain bike, swam in hot springs feed rivers all in walking distance from our rooms! So easy, so relaxing. The staff was awesome and the food is tasty. We stayed at Rio Perdido for first 3 nights of a 9 night first-time visit to Costa Rica. What a wonderful welcome to an amazing country. I was celebrating my 40th birthday - and they had a "felicidades" sign greeting me upon arrival in our bungalow. We landed in Liberia, rented a car and drove to the property. Once we figured out the how to get into the Bagaces from the highway, the signage to Rio Perdido was plentiful and helpful. We took full advantage of what Rio Perdido had to offer. ... Read more

Rio Perdido is off the beaten path, for sure. The last 4km getting you there are a bumpy dirt road. This place is nestled in the middle of hundreds of acres of rain forest. Once there you are a bit captive. The good news is that it is fabulous, so you won't want to leave! Definitely do the activities (zip lining, hiking, lazy river rafting).

From the moment we walked in to Rio Perdido, we were treated like family. The people, service, food, accommodations, and property were outstanding. Rio Perdido is a combination of relaxation and activity, both of which can be balanced to your own desire and pace. We highly recommend Rio Perdido and would return in a heartbeat.

I can not think of one bad thing to say about this place! Three nonchemical thermal swimming pools, adventure, peaceful hikes, unbelievable service, private rooms, the list goes on and on. You can go all day or do nothing at all. We have also been surrounded by the beautiful, peaceful howler monkeys since we got here. I really don't know how to describe the amazing way the staff treats you....pampered but not stuffy.

My husband and I spent the first portion of our Honeymoon at Rio Perdido and I cannot say more good things about this hotel. The staff went above and beyond, but were not stuffy. Every single one of them were outrageously kind, treated you like family and genuinely seemed to care about the hotel. The thermal swimming pools were glorious. We would go to the pools in the afternoon and there would be 6-8 people, including us, MAX. It was so lovely, especially compared to all inclusive resorts that ... Read more

The staff are unbelievably helpful and personable - from day one, they knew us both by name! We feel we have a bunch of new friends and we are looking forward to seeing all of them again next time. We developed great friendships with Emmanuel, Steven, Mario, Luis, Marlon, Erick, Ana, Jonathan, and Daniel. Their attentiveness and customer service skills were second to none! If you want nature up close and an adventurous experience (as adventurous as you want, but it also doesn't have to be) t... Read more

My wife and I checked out from Rio Perdido yesterday after a 3 night stay. We're active, in our 40s, and love to enjoy new and different experiences. Since leaving, it's been tough for my wife and I to not use A LOT of superlatives when reflecting on our stay. The highlight is the team at Rio Perdido. They are incredibly hospitable, even for Ticos! They bend over backwards to ensure your every need is taken care of. The setting of a very modern, contemporary designed architecture, set in the "d... This place is one of a kind and we will definitely be back. The staff is great and really makes the stay much more pleasant. The surroundings are fantastic, lush rain forest and the sound of the nearby river can be heard from our bungalow. Even monkees hanging from the treetops above. Our favorite was probably the hot springs, we spent hours by the south spring, soaking in the 117 degree mineral water. The activities on site are fun and convenient, we did the zip line and river tubing, I highly ... Read more

My husband and I just spent 3 nights at Rio Perdido - what a special place. To echo what many reviewers said..... don't think about it, just book it. We are in our 40's, active, like adventure but also like to be a pampered a bit, and Rio Perdido nailed that combination for us. The staff is amazing - they make a point of knowing your name and when we left, I actually felt as though we were leaving friends behind. They sincerely want you to have an amazing time. The level of service is excell... Read more

My husband and I started off our Costa Rica honeymoon here and I am so glad we did. The drive from San Jose was scenic, and worth it. Rio Perdido is tucked back down a private dirt road. When you arrive you are welcomed with a warm greeting from a friendly staff. Each bungalow is set apart giving you privacy. Daily we saw Monkeys outside our room and could hear the river below. The resort has its own activities or you can travel out to do others. The activities offered from the resort are... Read more

We stayed two nights on our journey through Costa Rica at this resort. What a beautiful resort. Everything was absolutely fantastic. The views, the hot springs, zip lining, tubing in the canyon...so much in two days. The dinners were some of the best we had. This place has an actual hot spring running through the canyons. It was amazing to sit in the springs and watch the wildlife play in the trees. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip. FANTASTIC!!!!

Simply can't say enough about the hard working, helpful, and enjoyable staff. Consistently went above and beyond to make you feel welcome, relaxed, and safe. Accommodations were clean, spacious, and comfortable. Food was fresh and well prepared, salmon salad and pasta dishes are the way to go, you won't be disappointed. The zip-line (canopy tour) is Top. Notch. The course is diverse, adventurous, beautiful, and the guides are experienced and make you feel safe (and do a great job havin... Read more

We absolutely loved Rio Perdido. It was absolutely stunning. The road is difficult, as are most of the roads to really cool and remote hotels. You will need a small SUV at a minimum to get here. I was pleasantly shocked when we entered. The rooms are little individual cottages perched on the hills that are super modern and chic. They even have hammock chairs on the balconies. They have golf carts that take you from your room to the lodge. The lodge is absolutely beautiful with terraces that have... Read more

I've gone zip-lining a few times before and the course at Rio Perdido is by far my favorite! The course setup is awesome. Instead of just zip-lining from plank to plank, you have to climb ladders built into the rock, swing from one plank to the other, go over the river/canyons -- the views are incredible. The crew made it extremely fun as well! We were fortunate that we were in a smaller group and didn't have any crowds. We ended the experience by going in the hot springs and then washing off i... I can't say enough wonderful things about our time at Rio Perdido. Hector was great and welcoming the moment we arrived. I give much credit to many of the staff who said they had only been learning English for a few months but were very proficient. I would recommend staying at least 4 days minimum so you can truly appreciate all the resort has to offer. My husband and I hiked trail 12 almost every day, but over the course of our stay I think we walked about every part of the16 kilometer trail.... Read more

Certainly not the resort's fault we experienced a hurricane the day after we arrived preventing us from partaking in the tubing and canopy adventure as one platform was ripped away by the water force and downed trees all along the river. However, we did get to explore the beautiful 16km of trails around the property with only some debris and mud. And the hot springs were fantastic the day we arrived but became murky with all the rain from Otto. Grounds are kept immaculate and the area incredib... Read more

Wow! This place! We were impressed from the moment my parents and I stepped out of our car. We were greeted by Mario and Eric with cool washcloths and refreshing drinks. They took care of our luggage and escorted us to the main lodge to relax while they finished the check-in process. LODGING: Each private cabin is located a short walk from the main lodge. If the walk is too long for you, the staff have a golf cart waiting to drive you to and fro. The small details are what separates this pl... Read more
